Viewers have spotted a delightful Harrison Ford / Indiana Jones Easter egg in Solo: A Star Wars Story. It's a fitting tribute to Harrison Ford's iconic portrayal of both Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Although the Indiana Jones franchise is over, Han Solo's story could yet continue.
Star Wars fans have spotted an absolutely delightful Indiana Jones Easter egg in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Alden Ehrenreich joined the cast of Solo: A Star Wars Story as the young Han Solo, a decision that proved to be a little controversial; Lucasfilm blamed the recasting of Harrison Ford's Han Solo for the movie's poor box office performance. But that doesn't mean Solo didn't have plenty of nods to the original actor, and viewers have just spotted another.

Ewan McGregor hints at returning to Star Wars beyond the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, leaving the door open for more stories with the iconic character. Star Wars actors like McGregor and Christensen have shown that returns are always possible, even after initially ruling out further appearances. Despite McGregor's indication that Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 may not happen, viewers can look forward to potential future projects with the beloved Jedi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Ewan McGregor indicated in a recent interview that, although Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 isn't likely, he may be returning to Star Wars. Ewan McGregor took up the Obi-Wan Kenobi mantle in the prequel trilogy, following Alec Guinness' portrayal of the character in the original trilogy. Although the prequels were initially criticized, they are now considered some of Star Wars' best movies. George Lucas and Lucasfilm's Star Wars universe has spawned many iconic stories and characters since its debut, which includes some noteworthy voice-acted performances. While the franchise is understandably best known as a live-action world, voiceover work brings another exciting layer to this IP's imaginative characters.
Animated TV shows like The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels certainly carry the bulk of these standout performances, but even the live-action productions depend on compelling voice acting to some extent. From modern fan-favorite successes like Ashley Eckstein's original take on Ahsoka Tano to the timeless work of James Earl Jones as Darth Vader, Star Wars has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to talented voice actors.

Jango Fett's clone army wasn't the first - a clone idea was first introduced in The Empire Strikes Back. Leigh Brackett originally wrote Lando Calrissian as a clone in the franchise, but it was never made canon. Boba Fett's backstory now reflects the original idea for Lando, showing a new take on cloning in Star Wars.
Jango Fett is famous for providing the original DNA for the clone army, but Star Wars has revealed that the first clone could have appeared in The Empire Strikes Back. In Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, audiences were introduced to Jango and the clone army. This was significant because, other than a throwaway line about the Clone Wars in A New Hope, no known clones were shown in the original trilogy. However, this wasn't always supposed to be the case.

The Star Wars franchise is recognized as one of the most iconic and culturally significant film series ever produced. It has not only achieved mainstream success but has also attained a unique and unparalleled status in the realm of media. With that said, Jake Gyllenhaal’s first meeting with Heath Ledger ended in disappointment for one sad reason.

Fans widely agree that the original Star Wars trilogy—comprising A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi—stands out as the highlight within the entire saga. Its enduring impact is evident, as it continues to shape and inspire various forms of entertainment across all mediums to this day.

Characters are at the heart of Star Wars, from Luke Skywalker to Captain Rex, showing humanity in galactic struggles. Grogu's development in The Mandalorian season 3 is an example of the hopeful journeys these beloved characters take. Meaningful character transformations, like Kallus in Rebels, show the power of connection and redemption in the Star Wars universe.
While Star Wars may be best known for introducing things like lightsabers and the Force to the world, at the heart of the franchise lies meaningful characters that almost everyone can relate to. From the moment Luke Skywalker appeared onscreen in A New Hope, audiences were supposed to identify with him and his journey to becoming a Jedi. The franchise has grown over more than 40 years and is still finding ways to bring meaningful characters and character arcs to audiences' screens.

George Lucas' "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope" is a structurally immaculate screenplay. You simply can't tell a sweeping intergalactic adventure -- or, really, any kind of story -- more thrillingly or efficiently. Beat for beat, it's considered the blockbuster narrative gold standard for a reason.
If, however, you're looking for a fantasy epic with dialogue that bounds off the page, might I recommend "Star Wars: Episode V -- The Empire Strikes Back"?
There is a certain genius to the specificity of Lucas' dialogue in the first movie. Characters drop references to Tosche Station, the Kessel Run, and the binary language of moisture vaporators like they're a part of everyday speech -- and fans have seen this movie so many times that these references are now a part of their everyday speech.
Still, years before "Star Wars" changed the film industry, these were treacherously awkward words and phrases that,...

The Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show added greatly to A New Hope, enhancing the legacy of the first Star Wars movie. From changes in Obi-Wan's character to his relationships with other characters, many of the seeds for A New Hope were planted in the show. Iconic events such as Obi-Wan's tragic death now carry more meaning because of the Disney+ TV show.
When the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series was released on Disney+ in 2022, it added a great deal to the story that Star Wars was telling about Obi-Wan's character. Not only did it expand on this story, but it retroactively added to the story that A New Hope was telling back at the dawn of the franchise. This has not only changed the movie for the better in small but noticeable ways, but the character as well.
This is not the first time that Obi-Wan's life has been expanded upon in canon.

Regardless of whether it's an action flick or a horror movie, sacrifices will always elevate the dramatic charge of a story. There's no better way to illustrate a character's redemption than with their willingness to give their life to save others. However, sacrifices aren't always related to brave causes: quite often, they are more about a character coming to terms with their own mortality rather than a touching decision to save other people's lives.
In A Quiet Place, Lee Abbott yells at the top of his lungs to prevent creatures that hunt by sound from preying on his family. In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, T-800, a cyborg, gives his life so humanity can continue to fight for the right causes. These are all unforgettable sacrifices in movies, but there are plenty of underrated choices that stand out as the most impactful moments of these stories.

If you like lifting heavy things, Beyblades and crying while laughing, you’ll absolutely love Bilmuri. The band, which is the brainchild of Johnny Franck (formerly of Attack Attack!), has music that is second only to their presence on social media and their fan base known as the incredible “Muri Naysh.” As you might imagine for someone with such a creative approach to art, Franck is heavily inspired by anime. However, the creative spark he gets from the medium is unique, stemming less from the specific content and more from the overall “packaging” of each episode. Hear from the man himself below to learn more about how the craftsmanship of anime broadened his musical horizons. Johnny, how are you? How's everything going? Franck: I'm doing great. We just got out of the studio like 30 minutes ago. That’s my favorite place to be in the world. We've been writing for about two years straight now.

A theory about Baby Yoda suggests a potentially heartbreaking destiny for him ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Grogu’s surprising introduction in The Mandalorian, commonly known as Baby Yoda, took fans by storm. His mysterious origins and significance have continued to intrigue Star Wars enthusiasts throughout the show’s two seasons. As viewers explore Grogu’s backstory further, they speculate about his role in both the series’ storyline and the broader Star Wars universe. A fan theory from Reddit suggests that Grogu, also known as “The Child,” is part of a longstanding cycle where a child grows up to save the Chosen One from falling into darkness.
Speculation arises from the saviour cycle theory, suggesting that Ahsoka Tano could have trained Grogu to eventually mentor a new Chosen One in a later phase of the Star Wars timeline, especially considering her appearance in The Mandalorian’s second season. This theory implies that...

Recent Ghostbusters films lack the comedic roots that made the original so beloved, leading to an identity crisis in the franchise. The legacy-sequel trend fails to fully capture the essence of Ghostbusters, with newer films alienating fans of the original comedy. New films, like Afterlife and Frozen Empire, focus more on action, neglecting the humor that made the 1984 classic enduring.
If there's something strange in your neighborhood, you know who to call — Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is now playing in theaters. And while the 1984 original remains a classic and a perfect blend of horror, comedy, and action, Ghostbusters has had a much more mixed track record as a franchise, as the creative teams responsible for all its follow-ups never seem to have had a full grasp on the genre blend. Nonetheless, 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife gave the franchise by far its biggest box office return since the original, and thus, Frozen Empire...

Star Wars revolutionized CGI in filmmaking, setting a new standard for epic storytelling. Despite benefits, CGI can overshadow storytelling and detract from the emotional impact of the narrative. A return to practical effects and fewer projects could reinvigorate Star Wars by focusing on quality over quantity.
The Star Wars franchise was conceived as a grand epic, inspired in part by movie serials of the 1930s which delivered their stories a chapter at a time over the course of many weeks. Creator George Lucas famously began his saga in the middle with Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, in part because he couldn't fit the whole story into the confines of one movie. It was the only way to get his vision on screen, and right up until its release, it seemed unlikely that it would continue beyond the first film. Times have changed and four decades later, Star...

Deleted dialogue from A New Hope would have deepened Anakin Skywalker's tragedy in Star Wars lore. Garven Dreis, who knew Anakin Skywalker, met Vader's lethal wrath during the Battle of Yavin. Legends material reveals Dreis flew alongside Anakin during the Battle of Virujansi, idolizing his piloting skills.
The very first Star Wars movie – now known as A New Hope – mentions the Clone Wars, but one additional reference to the war would have made the story of Anakin Skywalker far more tragic, had it not been deleted. The Clone Wars are first mentioned by Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, as the latter explains the true background of Anakin Skywalker. The Star Wars prequel trilogy and non-movie materials from the canon and Legends continuities would go on to depict this pivotal moment in galactic history in detail.

Luke Skywalker is a powerful Jedi with a wide range of Force powers, inherited from his father, Anakin Skywalker. From telekinesis to Force sense, Luke's Force abilities showcase his deep connection to the Force in both canon and Legends. Luke's unique powers like Force projection and fold space set him apart as one of the most skilled Jedi in the Star Wars universe.
Star Wars has many powerful Jedi, but few can match Luke Skywalker - and here are all the Force powers Luke has demonstrated in Legends and canon. The son of the Chosen One, Luke Skywalker inherited all Anakin Skywalker's potential. Princess Leia's leadership in the Rebellion inspired others to fight against the Empire. Leia remained resolute even after facing unimaginable loss, proving herself as the true hero in the galaxy far, far away. While Luke Skywalker may have been the original hero, Princess Leia showed time and time again why she was truly the last hope for the Rebellion.
Star Wars A New Hope seemingly presented Luke Skywalker as the galaxy’s last hope, but his sister, Leia Organa, arguably did far more to bring down the Empire than he did. Mark Hamill’s Luke made for a great main character in the original trilogy; he went from being a lowly moisture farmer to the galaxy’s savior in just a few days. Over the years, various Star Wars stories, from books to video games, have depicted different versions of how the Death Star plans were stolen. The Star Wars Expanded Universe was declared non-canon, allowing filmmakers the freedom to reshape the narrative in Star Wars movies. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story established a definitive version of the Rebels stealing the Death Star plans in canon, simplifying the complex history.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story expanded upon the opening crawl of the original Star Wars movie by retconning how the Death Star plans were stolen. While A New Hope outlined the premise for how the Rebels acquired the plans, the original Star Wars Expanded Universe of books, comics, and video games offered a more detailed account, adding specific characters and locations. However, things became complicated as multiple Star Wars stories told different versions of how the Death Star plans were stolen,...

There are plenty of iconic characters, vehicles, weapons, and more from "Star Wars" that fans have latched onto over the years. But since the loyal followers of a galaxy far, far away can be a weird bunch, even going so far as to remaster the original cuts of the movies themselves, they also become obsessed with a lot of small details in the sci-fi universe.
Case in point, blue milk is well known among "Star Wars" fans, despite only making a brief appearance at Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's kitchen table in "A New Hope," while Luke Skywalker pines about being stuck on Tatooine. The blue milk, which was agonizing to create for production, is so famous that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Disney World actually have it available to buy, along with the green milk that older Luke Skywalker disturbingly sips down in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Credit: Bfa / Twentieth Century Fox// Alamy Stock Photo In hindsight, it seems almost crazy to think that the Star Wars team could have been expecting anything less than a blockbuster box office performance. But, then again, back in 1977, they also didn’t realize that they were changing cinema forever. Writer/director George Lucas felt like he’d made a good film, and he hoped for the best, but — at the time, at least — he had no idea whether the public would have an appetite for the kind of science fiction epic he’d created. And, Lucas admitted, he was a little bit shocked when the original movie (now retitled Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope) quickly became a phenomenon. George Lucas' Star Wars films drew inspiration from many sci-fi classics, including Frank Herbert's Dune novels. On several occasions, Herbert appeared critical of Star Wars for borrowing from Dune, leading to accusations of plagiarism. The connection between Star Wars and Dune has only gottten more complicated when comparing the massive Star Wars franchise and the newer Dune movies.
Dune: Part Two has renewed interest in the seminal science fiction novels by Frank Herbert. But they also invoke another sci-fi classic: Star Wars, whose original trilogy takes a good deal of inspiration from Dune and its follow-ups. The fact wasn't lost on Herbert, who sparred with comparisons to the Star Wars trilogy during the last few years of his life. He wasn't shy about his opinions, though he could occasionally be cryptic with them. It's clear that the trilogy's riff on his content bothered him to the point where he...

This article contains spoilers for "Battlestar Galactica."
15 years ago, on March 20, 2009, "Battlestar Galactica" concluded its run with the series finale "Daybreak," and man, what a frakkin' good show that was. A reboot of a short-lived 1970s series, "Battlestar Galactica" follows a starship fleet searching for the fabled planet Earth after humanity's home, the 12 Colonies of Man, are destroyed by their robotic creations, the Cylon. I was a little too young to watch "Galactica" weekly on its first airing, but thanks to the magic of Netflix, I downed the whole thing the summer before I entered high school.
It was the first show of that length that I watched from beginning to end. I love "Star Trek," but I'll always appreciate "Battlestar" for going further than even the Final Frontier dared push. "Battlestar" co-creator Ronald D. Moore got his start in TV writing on "Star Trek" and set out to make...

Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte series will explore an unexplored area of the Star Wars universe. The Disney+ show is very different from the other Star Wars projects and is even set 100 years before the events of The Prequel Trilogy. Interestingly, Headland intentionally hired a writer in the room who was not a Star Wars fan to have different perspectives on the show.

We finally have our first look at The Acolyte, the new Star Wars series set to hit Disney+ this summer. Created by showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), the show is set before any of the Skywalker Saga movies and is a murder mystery, a first for this franchise. As you’ll see from the trailer and this breakdown, the series is a lot darker than any of the other shows that Disney has produced so far. It makes a bit of sense since this series happens to be all about the Sith…

The Acolyte, Star Wars' next TV show, is breaking George Lucas' odd rule against Wookiee Jedi. Master Kelnacca is the first live-action Wookiee Jedi in Star Wars canon, following in the footsteps of Star Wars animation. The Mandalorian's story connects past and future of Star Wars universe, hinting at Snoke and Palpatine's origins. Season 3 starts strong with Din Djarin's mission and introduces clone army based on Moff Gideon's genetic template. Dr. Pershing's cloning research leads to creation of Snoke, with ties to Palpatine's futile efforts for immortality.
Ever since old Ben Kenobi mentioned "the clone wars" in Star Wars: A New Hope, this is a universe whose stories are told out of order. So, it should come as no surprise that The Mandalorian wouldn't just link to the characters of this universe's past but also point towards its future. Specifically, Din Djarin and Grogu's story inevitably leads to the galaxy's future, as shown in the sequel trilogy of films. While the series has hinted and teased at this, The Mandalorian has drawn a distinct line from its story to the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke of the First Order.

Actor Tim Russ humorously explains Star Wars in a video, highlighting the playful rivalry between Star Trek and Star Wars. J.J. Abrams has directed two movies in both the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises, exemplifying the links between the two. Gene Roddenberry and George Lucas shared a mutual admiration, showing the positive impact of the friendly rivalry between the two sci-fi franchises.
An old clip of Star Trek: Voyager's Tim Russ hilariously explaining Star Wars to the uninitiated has resurfaced on social media. Star Trek and Star Wars have always had a friendly rivalry, riffed upon by comedians for decades. The comically exaggerated rivalry is likely rooted in Star Wars and Star Trek being the biggest science fiction franchises. However, there's an affectionate back and forth between both franchises, exemplified by the many connections between them.

The opening scene of Star Wars: A New Hope with the Star Destroyer remains an unbeatable, breathtaking cinematic moment to this day. The original trilogy, including A New Hope, has not aged and continues to be beloved, surpassing newer Star Wars content in many ways. Recent Star Wars projects often pay homage to the original trilogy, reflecting the unmatched impact of scenes like the iconic Star Destroyer entrance.
Star Wars has featured many excellent scenes over the years, but it has yet to top one moment in A New Hope, and it likely never will. When Star Wars, since known as A New Hope, was released in 1977, it was something completely new. While space travel and the genre of science fiction of course had an established history, what George Lucas was creating with world-building in terms of the story and with sound and visual effects in the movie itself was unprecedented.

Leia Organa's iconic outfit in Star Wars was inspired by Lady Guinevere from Arthurian legend. Leia also paralleled Guinevere's story with her capture in A New Hope, though she changed the timeless legend significantly. Leia's character may have been inspired by Guinevere, but the changes she made to the historic story helped make Leia such an iconic and influential character.
George Lucas drew inspiration from many different sources for Star Wars, but the idea for Leia Organa's timeless outfit, as well as several elements of her character introduced in A New Hope, made her an icon of the entire franchise. Leia had several stunning outfits throughout Star Wars, but perhaps her most recognizable was the one she wore throughout A New Hope. That outfit helped turn her into one of the best characters in A New Hope, and it owes a lot to a forgotten inspiration.

Heed my warning: never ask a "Star Wars" animation fan if you should watch shows like "The Clone Wars" and "Star Wars Rebels" unless you're prepared to get your ear talked off. For all of the franchise's high points in live-action, something about animation just fits a galaxy far, far away smoother than Lando Calrissian playing a game of Sabacc. Animated "Star Wars" projects are able to go weirder and wilder, bringing bizarre non-humans to life in a convincing way that's hard to translate into the real world. It's why I'm relieved that "Rebels" co-creator and current Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni has so far allowed the Bendu to remain purely in the animated realm.
The Bendu, for those who are not familiar, looks a little like a cross between a buffalo, a rock monolith, and Gimli from "The Lord of the Rings." This enigmatic, giant entity -- who's...

Christopher Walken can currently be seen as the Emperor of the Known Universe in "Dune: Part Two," but once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, the quirky actor had a chance to appear in another huge sci-fi epic. As Walken himself recently told Vanity Fair, he auditioned for the role of Han Solo in the first "Star Wars" film, aka "Star Wars: A New Hope." Of course, Walken didn't get the part — and it's hard to imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford playing the loveable rogue.
To hear Walken tell it, he auditioned for the part along with a wealth of other actors, so it's not clear how close he came to actually landing the role of Han Solo. In other words, lots of people were being considered for the film, and Walken was just one name of many on a list of auditioning actors. But interestingly enough,...

On the 25th Anniversary of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace earned accolades and respect it didn't get upon release. Before The Phantom Menace, Return of the Jedi was considered the "bad" Star Wars film, mostly by older fans, but that changed. Fan attitudes about both films changed with time, which begs the question about Star Wars movies getting better with age.
A quarter century ago, fans of the galaxy far, far away were finally taken back to the universe that captured their imaginations as children. Similarly, the children of the day had their own epic saga of Jedi and Sith to look forward to. On the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace it's worth examining whether the controversial film from George Lucas has gotten better with age.

Ahsoka Tano was a comparatively late addition to the Star Wars universe, but she quickly became a fan favorite. After her defining stint in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, she has gone on to play a significant role in galactic events, including the prelude to the Galactic Civil War in Star Wars: Rebels. She was even active in the efforts to rebuild the Republic in her own self-titled TV series. In the process, she's grown into one of the saga's most indispensable characters, and her clear moral compass serves as a constant source of hope whenever she appears.
Considering her longevity, Ahsoka's absence during the Galactic Civil War itself is a notable one. Ahsoka is one of the last benevolent Force users to remember the days of the old Republic, even as the new one built in the wake of the Empire begins to make fatal mistakes of its own.

Warning! This post contains Spoilers for Star Wars: Thrawn- Alliances #2
Darth Vader once used his cape as a strategic defense against attackers in the Star Wars canon, surprising both his and Grand Admiral Thrawn's attackers with its effectiveness. Other Sith Lords could potentially similarly use their own capes for practical protection and escape. Vader's cape serves as more than just a fashion statement beyond this impressive Star Wars feat, providing him with blaster-resistant protection as its made from a special armor-weave fabric.
Darth Vader has proven in the Star Wars galaxy that the average Sith Lord has a secret weapon beyond the dark side of the Force. As seen in the comic book adaptation of the novel Thrawn Alliances, Lord Vader is on a mission set before the events of A New Hope, having been paired with Grand Admiral Thrawn by the Emperor himself. To that end, Darth Vader...

It's also no secret that George Lucas loved Kurosawa films and used Hidden Fortress to inspire the plot of Star Wars: A New Hope.

When Star Wars: The Clone Wars first introduced Anakin Skywalker's padawan learner, fans were intrigued about this character and certain about how her story would end. She wasn't in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, so they expected her to die or disappear before the events of that film. What Ahsoka Tano fans didn't expect, however, was for her to leave the Jedi Order before the war's end.
