As of 2006 this one is considered to be the all-time most successful TV series in Spain, with an estimated peak audience of 20 million viewers when it was first aired (a 38 million inhabitants country by then), so far it has been re-run 11 times in different Spanish TV channels and sold by TVE to many other countries (which is quite uncommon). Besides its 25th Anniversary edition DVD package has been one of the most successful in the Spanish video market in 2006.
The name of the town where the action of the series takes place is never mentioned; it is Nerja.
Nowadays there's a street in Nerja named after each one of the main characters/members of the cast of the series (e.g. María Garralón "Julia", Miguel Joven "Tito").
All the kids have proper Christian names except Tito and Piraña, the same goes for all the adults in the series except Chanquete and his fellow colleague sailor "Patachula", these characters are always called by their nicknames and their real names are never mentioned throughout the Series.
Present day (2006) Miguel Ángel Valero "Piraña" has a doctorate in Telecommunications Engineering and is a lecturer at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
