Sex & Nudity

  • There is a mild strip club scene. Women are shown dancing in bikinis, but no nudity aside from that. The scene does not last very long. They are shown in the corner of the room so they cannot be seen completely. No nudity aside from that. After the scene transitions from the club, a call girl tries to seduce and have intercourse with a man who is in a trance-like state.
  • Some sexual references.
  • A man's penis is shown around an hour into the movie but it is from far away
  • A man and a woman have sex, but no nudity is shown. The scene lasts only for a couple of seconds.
  • A mans genitals and buttocks are shown while he is running naked.
  • Near the beginning, some men are seen showering completely nude, their genitals are obscured but we see his buttocks.
  • A man gets drunk and begins to streak. He strips to his underwear, then takes off his underwear. He is seen running from far.

  • A man survives a bullet to the head. Lots of blood pours from the wound. Quite bloody.
  • There is a very unexpected scene where many people are graphically shot. One is shot in the head with a graphic wound. The others are shot in the chest with graphic wounds.
  • A man falls off a helicopter and lands in rocky water. He is pulled out of the water and his legs are shown very graphically injured. A very graphic wounds is shown with part of his bone being shown and his leg is ripped open. Very graphic and bloody.
  • Dead bodies are shown in a pile. Very graphic and bloody.
  • A man is shot in the head graphically. Blood spurts and pours and over his shirt and face. A man holds his head. Blood gets all over his hands. Extremely graphic and bloody.
  • Scenes of intense Vietnam combat, with explosions and gunshot wounds. Quite graphic sequences.
  • A deer is shot and is killed. No gore is seen however the deer can be seen collapsing and struggling to breathe as it dies.

Profanity

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Includes intense scenes of brutal war violence and torture.
  • The subject matter is pretty depressing, as the film deals with the psychological effects of war and doesn't shy away from showing the audience the realities of war. This film may depress some viewers as a result of its realistic subject matter.
  • The film, as a whole, is very intense, particularly enhanced by its gritty realism.
  • Many scenes from it may trigger PTSD for such veterans.
  • The infamous Russian Roulette scene is said to be the most frightening non-horror movie scene in cinema history
  • The entire movie is extremely intense, with multiple scenes of emotional deaths and situations.

Violence & Gore

  • Near the end of the movie, a character under the influence of drugs shoots himself in the head. Blood spurts out and another character breaks down and tries to put pressure on it to keep the character alive a little longer. Very emotional and intense scene.
  • American P.O.W.s captured in Vietnam. very intense scenes of violence and a dangerous card game where loser has to play Russian rioulette
  • A scene in which an extremely intense and emotional game of Russian Roulette is played where we see graphic blood spurts and blood pouring out of a head wound. One of the captured soldiers being forced to play the game grabs a gun and he and another captive shoot and kill everyone in the room.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Implied use of drugs. Specifically to the character of Nick who in the climatic Russian Roulette scene is shown to be catatonic. There are also needle marks on his arm.
