The cast of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” includes no shortage of famous faces, including two Oscar nominees and two full-on Oscar winners. But anyone paying close attention while watching this weekend’s box office winner might have noticed a number of other familiar faces. In fact, director Jon Watts has packed nearly every small supporting role he could with a niche comedian or former child star on the verge of adulthood.

This summer, the Forces Of Destiny miniseries will show vignettes from around the Star Wars universe, focusing on the “everyday heroism” of female characters like Leia, Jyn, and Rey.

With E3 wrapped up, it’s given us a chance to look back at the show’s big reveals and previews. Like every year, gamers were treated to a wealth of new trailers to feast their eyes on, but some were certainly more impressive than others. Come inside as I break down the coolest trailers from E3 2017!
The best part (for me personally anyway) of any E3, is the sheer amount of new game trailers we get to see. Trailers are our window into the game world, offering up our first looks at what’s to come, or new things to look forward to. They’re specifically designed to generate/build hype and some are more effective than others.
As I have done in years past, I’m here to talk about some of the best trailers E3 gave gamers this year. There was plenty to choose from (and yes, I’m including trailers launched in the week or so before the event that were created for the show), so I made my picks off of the hype factor, the cool factor, and overall presentation.
God of War
The new God of War reboot kicked off Sony's press conference last year and blew people away. This time around, we got another look at Kratos' Nordic adventure with a swanky new gameplay trailer, that also gives us some hints/clues towards the story. We know his son and that relationship is an integral part to the story, but this trailer finally gave us some insight to that. While we will still have to wait until next year to play it, at least we got a release window and footage to showcase how the development team really wants to make God of War special again.
Anthem
We got our first glimpse at Anthem this year and I'm already excited to get my hands on it. Sure, I know it's basically Bioware's version of Destiny, but I'm 100% okay and on board with it. If they can bring their brand of storytelling to that Mmo/shooter format, I'm definitely eager to see more. Bioware always does a stellar job crafting engaging, epic feeling trailers, and Anthem's reveal was no different.
Star Wars: Battlefront II
I've made no secret about my disappointment in the first Star Wars Battlefront game and it's lack of story content. EA made it crystal clear they heard the complaints from fans in that regard and are committed to providing a great single-player experience along with the multiplayer for Star Wars: Battlefront II. While we saw a story trailer previously, the new E3 trailer mixed in more of the multiplayer elements, showing off the Prequel content and some exciting hero battles. All in all, the trailer left me feeling like issues had been properly addressed and I'm eager to see how it plays when it launches.
The Evil Within 2
Everyone knows I'm not a huge horror fan (movies or games), mostly because I'm a big chicken. I'm sure the neighborhood heard my echoing screams when I was playing Alien Isolation when it released...So it may seem odd that I've picked The Evil Within 2 to sit on my top trailers list. Despite the fact that I'll likely not play it, there's no denying how effective this reveal trailer is. It hits all the right notes, striking a solid balance between gory horror, and full-on suspense. It's enticing to fans of the original and newcomers alike.
Skull & Bones
Perhaps I'm just a sucker for Pirate related video games (I'm unreasonably excited for Sea of Thieves), but the announcement trailer for Ubisoft's Skull & Bones really caught my attention. The cinematic reveal showed off a swashbuckling endeavor, where you can take to the high seas and live out your wildest Pirate dreams. Coupled with the excellent gameplay demo afterwards and it's hard to deny the hype for this game.
Dragon Ball FighterZ
Bandai Namco's latest Dragon Ball Z related video game made it's debut at E3, and takes the franchise back to its more traditional roots. Unlike the latest Xenoverse games, story isn't the big focus, and FighterZ looks to play out like a more traditional 2D fighting game...and it looks so gorgeous. The art style feels like it's pulled straight out of the beloved anime with all the over the top action fans have come to expect. While it was a quick announcement trailer it was enough to get fans excited.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
One of the most impressive indie games for the Xbox One was Ori and the Blind Forest. The art style is stunning and brougth together solid gameplay and an engaging story. As such, it was great to see a trailer for the sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Beyond the excitement of a sequel, the trailer is just well crafted and beautiful to watch...I mean, how in the Hell does a trailer make me get all choked up?!
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Ubisoft closed out their press conference this year with a surprise, a cinematic trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2. The long gestating sequel has been the source of much frustration over the years with a constant "will they, won't they" back and forth. Despite rumors about it making an appearance at just about every E3 for the last several years...it finally happened. Moreso, it's ridiculously good looking, with sleek animation and characters that already feel interesting. Even if you haven't been among the fans anxiously awaiting the game, the trailer surely caught your attention.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
The new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 gave us a much better look at the upcoming game and the new cast of characters/environment we'll be traversing. Where the first trailer gave us a quick glimpse at the big RPG, the new E3 trailer introduces the story, confirming the game won't return us to the Bionis or Mechonis, but forging it's own path in a similar style. Either way, it was a great look at the characters and villains.
Horizon: Zero Dawn - The Frozen Wilds
Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long to get our first look at story Dlc for Horizon: Zero Dawn. The action open-world action game is among the best games I've played this year (and the past decade), and after sinking a ridiculous amount of hours into it, I'm still eager for more. The Frozen Wilds returns gamers to that world, with Aloy back for more in a new locale, with new robot beasts to take on. Sign me the Hell up!
There are some notable omissions, but I purposefully chose to leave off videos shown during the event that played out more as gameplay demos than actual trailers, which means Insomianc’s Spider-Man and Days Gone were left out even though they were insanely cool. These are the game trailers that had me the most excited during the event, which ones did you enjoy the most from E3?

The doors to the La Convention Center have officially closed and another E3 has been put in the books. As we reflect on what was one of the most intriguing E3’s in recent memory, we honor the games that got us excited, that made us say “wow” with our Cinelinx Best of E3 Award! Last year You picked The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as our inaugural winner. Who will win it in Year 2? See below and cast your vote!
Strange Brigade
“Strange Brigade is a four player co-op or single player action, puzzle, and hoard game. In a way, it reminds me of a less-narrative-based Uncharted game. Definitely a blast to play.” - Eric
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
Speaking of Uncharted, it looks like Naughty Dog has done it again with The Lost Legacy. They managed to make to side-characters and make them the stars in their own incredible adventure.

Bringing the curtain down on Sony’s admittedly brief E3 presser this evening was Insomniac’s Spider-Man, which debuted its first gameplay trailer and a surprise cameo from Miles Morales. At almost nine minutes in length, it’s an extensive preview of the studio’s licensed title, one that will no doubt stoke the embers of excitement ahead of that newly-announced 2018 launch window.
It now joins the growing list of PS4 exclusives to fall within the same nebulous release corridor (see: Detroit: Become Human, God of War, the Shadow of the Colossus Remaster), so it’s small wonder why fans are beginning to feel a little anxious. One look at the calendar tells us that, barring Gran Turismo Sport and Level-5’s Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, Sony has been left facing another fall window that is relatively sparse on the exclusives front. Third-party content partnerships with Call of...

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - In what world could I not start with this one? Anyone who knows me or has read my work knows how much of a Zelda fanboy I am. However, you don’t even have to be a fanboy to appreciate the gravity of Breath of the Wild. It’s the first true open-world Zelda game, Windwaker was to an extent but not to the level of Breath of the Wild.

If you were excited about Spider-Man getting a new game, then you might also be excited to hear that more studios are working on more games.
In an interview with Polygon Marvel's Jay Ong, Vice President of games, there are more titles coming.
"When I joined Marvel two years ago, I came in with a mandate to usher in a new era for Marvel Games."
"Is [Spider-Man] a signal of things to come? Oh, yes. Absolutely. And we can’t wait to tell the world about it."
There is no confirmation, but this could be why Activision had been losing licenses to Marvel characters over recent years. It seems as though Spider-Man and Wolverine have also ended, and Activision has removed almost all Marvel character based games from their website.
This means licenses can land elsewhere if another studio would like to make the games. Where exactly? Well Jay Ong confirmed that Telltale, Sony, and WB are all confirmed studios to be working on something, but that's not all. He said there are deals elswhere that he can't announce just yet, but we can hear more later this year.
It's safe to say that Marvel titles really haven't been great in a long while. It's been some time since the X-Men Destiny and Ultimate Alliance. This is why Marvel is being selective of partners and licenses, insuring a quality standard, and hopefully their own Batmah Arkham title will arise. Could Spider-Man from Insomniac be that game?
"The question is, 'How we can get there?' The thing we landed on is to be really selective with who we partner with. Extremely selective. Right now I would say that out of every 10 opportunities we look at, we maybe do one."
Ong went on to state that the Activision formula of tying games to movie releases will not be a focus. The upcoming Spider-Man title has nothing to do with the upcoming film release, Homecoming. However if the releases hit around the same time, it's great, but not part of the building process. They want each game to be awesome.
This is fantastic news because we can see where these franchises go. I'm also happy that Marvel is licensing per product instead of throwing the entire Marvel license under one belt.

I recently had the opportunity to speak with the man behind many of the voices I grew up listening to in the mornings, after school and even on the weekends. Peter Cullen is known throughout the world not only as the voice of the wise and heroic leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, in the 1980s The Transformers cartoon series, but he was also the voice of various other robots including Ironhide, Slugslinger, Streetwise, Wingspan and Nightstick. He reprised the voices of Optimus and Ironhide in the 1986 ?The Transformers: The Movie? film. We’re here in the final stretch of the “Saturday Night Live” season, with just three consecutive episodes separating us and wild speculation about the fortieth season of the program. I have a few thoughts on what to look for over these three weeks, but the promos this week suggest “SNL” might have an extremely fun and game host in Garfield. He has cameo’d in the past when real-life girlfriend Emma Stone has hosted (look for her to return the favor tonight), but this is his first chance to show the comedic touches he brings to Peter Parker in a sketch-comedy setting. Along for the ride is musical guest Coldplay, who ironically last appeared on “SNL” when Stone hosted. Maybe Spider-Man will fight them as two-thirds of The Sinister Six. Not an Extremely sinister six, I’d grant you. But hey, what do I know? As always, I’ll be liveblogging,...

Those looking to get their hands on 2013′s Deadpool will have to act fast, as the comic book title was recently removed from Steam, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. Marvel’s very own ‘Merc with a Mouth’ is not the only character to see his game removed, as various Spider-Man and X-Men titles have also been pulled from the digital platforms.
While Activision and Marvel have both remained quiet about the move, it’s likely that the issue revolves around a licensing agreement between the two studios. Nonetheless, the complete list of affected titles is as follows: Deadpool, Spider-Man: Edge Of Time, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Spider-Man: Friend Or Foe, Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows, X-Men: Destiny, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: The Official Game. All of these Activision-published titles can still be found on retailer shelves for the time being, though.

These past few months have been pretty superior for Spider-Man. For those of you who aren't up speed, writer Dan Slott has placed the mind of Doctor Otto Octavius—a.k.a. Doctor Octopus—into Peter Parker's body within the pages of Marvel's "Superior Spider-Man.". Now, as if that weren't exciting enough, Slott will be re-introducing a fan-favorite futuristic character: Miguel O'Hara, a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099.
Making his big comeback in issue #17 of "Superior Spider-Man," Miguel O'Hara had another brush with fame following "Spider-Man 2099's" cancellation way back in 1996. Following the end of Fox's successful—and long-running—"Spider-Man" cartoon, they looked to 2099 for inspiration.

“I can’t believe I agreed to this,” Bruce muttered, as he locked the front door of Wayne Manor.
“Hey, Bats!” a cheerful voice exclaimed from behind. Bruce turned.
“Peter,” he grumbled at the young man standing in the driveway. “I told you not to call me that when I’m out of the suit.”
“Sorry, Bats! Forgot,” Peter Parker replied merrily.
Bruce groaned inwardly. Here we go again, he thought. “Peter, what are you doing here?” he asked.
“I came to keep you company on the drive!” said Peter. “Plus, you know… Alfred thought if I didn’t, you might not come.”
“So… you came all the way out here just to turn around and go right back?” Bruce said wryly, walking to the car.

As someone who likes Spider-Man toys, I’m a little picky when it comes to my action figures. I’m a film toy purest, so I’m more likely to buy toys that look like props and characters in the movie rather than the multiple variants of a character. “This Iron Man has a electric shield that spins! This Iron Man has blue underwater armor!” I really don’t care, I’d like to have Iron Man on my desk and I’d like it to just look like Iron Man.
Seems like a bunch of you are like me, or so thinks Hasbro, who was super sad that the box office success of ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ didn’t translate to success in toy sales.
How to fix that with a franchise that was based on selling toys in the first place? The same way they fixed it in the cartoons: More robots.

Over the years, superhero games have proven to be a hit or miss sub-genre, with many suffering from the licensed game curse. That is, a lack of development time mixed with poor quality control. Add-in the time sensitive deadlines that tend to cripple movie tie-ins and you have a video game cocktail which began its doomed life in a broken glass.
Although there have been many unfortunate occurrences where our favourite comic book heroes have failed to impress in interactive space, some titles have been much more offensive to the geek population than others. Stay tuned as we count down the five most disappointing superhero video games in recent memory.
5) Spider-Man: Edge of Time
After Beenox knocked one out of the proverbial park with 2010′s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, it seemed as if the Quebec-based developer really understood what it takes to create a good game based on the human arachnid.

This is the first ever documented Spider-Man fan film, and the first (unofficial) live action appearance of Spider-Man from way back in 1969. This was produced by Donald F. Glut, who at the time was writing for Warren Magazines (Creepy and Eerie) and would later go on to write Captain America, The Invaders, Conan, and Kull for Marvel, and what he may still best be known for, writing the novelization for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
This was Don’s last amateur film (he had produced many other fan films before this) before moving on to write for classic cartoons like Transformers and Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.

Always take all rumors with a grain of salt, but thinkmcflythink.com is reporting that Zack Snyder will be borrowing from J.J. Abrams 2002 Superman script, Flyby, by having Superman/Kal-El sent to Earth to fulfill a prophecy. The following information is from thinkmcflythink.com Rumblings we hear is another vital Flyby component is being used; the revelation Supes/Clark/Kal is a lost Kryptonian prince prophesied to save the world. Is it as radical as the big stink being made about changes to Spider-Man's origins in The Amazing Spider-Man as leaked by Badass Digest? It's out there, and lazy, let's be honest throwing in the tired "Chosen One" or "Destiny" cliché. But considering how far Flyby originally deviated, it was the least egregious material Abrams cooked up (God forbid they used Supes dying and visiting his father in Kryptonian Heaven!) Some of you might instantly cry "Bullshit!" with claims...

Shallow. That’s one way to describe X-Men: Destiny. It’s a game that you want to love. Conceptually, it sets itself apart from mutant adventures of the past. Instead of fighting as one of Marvel’s legendary cache of mutants, you get to build one up from scratch. However, the monotonous gameplay screams lazy design. The lackluster AI feels ripped out of the world of 8-bit gaming (16-bit would be a stretch). It plays out more like a game adapted from a movie property rather than a standalone title – the latter of which is something you would hope for after Activision’s 2010 Marvel title Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Unfortunately, Beenox isn’t the developer on this one. If it weren’t for the rich roster of guest-mutey appearances in X-Men: Destiny and a comic book inspired story arc, there would be little enjoyment at all to be found in this game.

Chicago – Imagine this — an X-Men game in which you don’t play a known member of the legendary team. Want to rage with Wolverine’s claws, shoot beams with Cyclops’ eyes, or rain chaos with Storm? Well, you’ll have to go back to the last “Marvel Ultimate Alliance” game to do so because they’re not playable here. And while the creative direction could have resulted in something fresh, every element of this game makes it feel like an afterthought, like you’re not playing recognizable names because they shouldn’t be that involved in a mess of a game like this one.
Video Game Rating: 2.0/5.0
I should make clear that I’m not opposed to superhero games that take creative risks and making an X-Men game in which you don’t play one of the Many household names within the most legendary team of mutants in comic history was definitely a risk.

Perhaps it is elitist of me to feel badly for kids these days and the quality of television programming available to them, but I don't mind being thought a snob. I am the older sister to much younger siblings (my youngest sister, Noa, was born the day after I went to prom), so I've been privy to experience everything from the best: Arthur and Spongebob Squarepants; to the worst: Pretty much everything else.
My sister is old enough to know better now, but i've got two young nieces to worry about and a whole world of pop culture to introduce them to. Thankfully, someone in power must've had a child, seen the abysmal choices and decided to do something about it. As of yesterday, I am so happy to say, I can share the greatness of Jem and The Holograms (and those hot bitches The Misfits) with a whole new generation.

Following up 2010’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions release, Activision is stepping up in 2011 with another potential comic inspired hit that isn’t tied to a movie release. X-Men: Destiny, scheduled for release later this month, steps away from the typical archetype for X-Men games. Instead of playing with your typical cache of known characters (because you know you’d pick Wolverine because of the healing factor), gamers are given a choice of three mutants: Aimi, Adrian and Grant. Much like an RPG the game allows you grow your mutant from a relatively blank slate. After picking your character, you will be able to grow him/her within three classes of power: Density, Shadow and Electric. Each character can then grow to be totally unique from another player’s X-genes as gamers spend Xp to power up offensive, defensive and utility abilities. In regards to the story, the game is vaguely...

This year has seen a ton of comics-to-feature-film releases, and the video game market is not different. However, the trend to games doesn’t always yield positive results, as many are done as quick cash-ins to support the film releases (“Thor“, “Green Lantern: Rise Of The Manhunters“). However, every so often, a tie-in turns into a gem (the latest “Captain America: Super Solider” game was a pleasant surprise), but when they work best is when they are using original material to tell the story. There are three titles coming out later this year that gamers and comic fans alike should be looking forward to. Below, you’ll find the most recent trailers for “Batman: Arkham City“, “Spider-Man: Edge of Time” and “X-Men: Destiny“, all due out in the next coming months.

Just in time for New York Comic Con this week, Activision has named their next X-Men video game, and it's going to be called "X-Men: Destiny." Though a few mutants are expected to show up in next year's "Marvel vs. Capcom 3," they've largely taken a backseat to Spider-Man, Thor and Iron Man since "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "Ultimate Alliance 2" came out.
Comic book writer Mike Carey will handle the story for "Destiny," according to a press release today. The announcement states that players will take on the roles of "new mutant recruits," which may mean young, freshman versions of existing characters or new X-Men concepts altogether (though the last time Marvel tried that whole new character concepts for games thing in "Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects," it didn't turn out so hot).
The game's limited description doesn't say anything about the X-universe character Destiny who's previously been associated with...

Aronosfky and Weisz Prep Jackie O. Project: Darren Aronofsky and his fiance Rachel Weisz are prepping to work together once again on Jackie. The film was written by first time screenwriter Noah Oppenheim and centers on Jackie Kennedy Onassis (Weisz) over the course of the four days following her husband, President John F. Kennedy's assassination and his burial, showing Jackie O. at both her most vulnerable and her most graceful. Aronofsky will direct and produce the picture along with his producing partner Scott Franklin and their Protozoa Pictures film company. Aronofsky just finished with Black Swan starring Natalie Portman and is an off-and-on-again candidate to potentially debut at Cannes in May. [EW]
