In the world of cinema, where innovation reigns supreme, producer Prerna Arora and director Suresh Krissna are set to challenge Indian cinema norms with ‘Hero Heeroine.’ Known for groundbreaking projects like ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Padman,’ Arora promises fresh narratives. “Hero Heeroine” is a love saga exploring the dynamics between reel and real.
However, it was during a recent coffee rendezvous in Chennai that Prerna Arora and Suresh Krissna stumbled upon a revelation that would change the course of their project. Why confine the narrative to Hindi in a city steeped in the rich tapestry of Telugu cinema? Just as Tamil, Malayalam, or Bengali talents contribute to the magic of Hindi cinema, the film showcases a diverse cast and crew from different corners of the country, converging in Hyderabad to create something truly extraordinary.
“This is more than just a film; it’s a cultural phenomenon,” says Prerna Arora.

Suppose I stay close to a cinema and plan to take the family out for a movie over the weekend, what do I do? The obvious thing for me to do is to walk to the theatre to book the tickets or I can do so on my way home from work. Sounds easy and simple. Also logical. That is how it worked all along. Not anymore. It is not so simple now. Booking cinema tickets for the family outing in advance brings back nostalgia.
The entire family had to watch a movie. And, no, tickets for the family were not booked based on what critics said. Not many families used to subscribe to a newspaper in those days, let alone follow film reviews!
A family shortlisted a film by what the neighbours, colleagues at office and friends said about a film. Word of mouth, you see, was what mattered!

2013, the extra special year marking the centenary of Hindi Cinema is almost coming at an end.
To celebrate, BollySpice briefly explores the theatrical roots of Bollywood, expanding on the contribution of William Shakespeare, the famous playwright who has continuously intrigued the Indian film industry since the beginning of the Hindi film industry.
We explore selected Bollywood “Romeo and Juliet” interpretations and how they disturbingly reflect South Asian cultural issues related to “love”.
Theatrical Beginnings
When “sound” arrived into the world of Hindi cinema in 1931, it threatened the existence of the Parsi Theatre – a popular culture of performing arts that formed the foundation for what we now call “Bollywood”.
Not only had theatre formed an important foundation, but continues to be reflected through Bollywood – through more ways than one.

Mumbai, July 8: Thanks to the problems like fatness, bad skin and stammering, debutant actor Tanuj Virwani, who will soon be seen in "Luv U Soniyo", never thought about getting into acting. He nurtured the dream of becoming a scriptwriter or a director.
Tanuj is "Ek Duuje Ke Liye" fame actress Rati Agnihotri's son.
"I never wanted to get into acting. I was fat, had bad skin and braces. I also used to stammer," said the newcomer Saturday at the music launch of the film here.
"I always wanted to be behind the camera, may be as a scriptwriter or a director," he added.
But one fine day he changed his mind and decided.

Mumbai, July 1: Tanuj Virwani says the plot of his debut film "Love U Soniyo" is akin to his mother Rati Agnihotri's 1981 blockbuster "Ek Duuje Ke Liye" -- both films revolve around lovers who belong to different regions.
"Ek Duuje Ke Liye" saw Rati as a North Indian girl who falls in love with a Tamil guy, played by Kamal Haasan. Director Joe Rajan's "Love U Soniyo" revolves around Mark, a Catholic, and Punjabi girl Soniyo, played by former Miss India Neha Hinge, and how they are brought together by fate only to be drawn apart.
Tanuj said: "Yes, quite a coincidence. It wasn't planned and funnily enough we didn't even realise it until midway through the shoot."
"One night after pack up, Joe and I were sitting in.

Chennai, Jan 31: After many members from Indian film industry expressed their solidarity, Bollywood actor Salman Khan also opposed the ban on "Vishwaroopam" in Tamil Nadu and requested his and Kamal Haasan's fans to lend support to the film-maker.
"Hope each and every fan of his (Kamal Haasan) supports him like I am doing and want all my fans to fully support him. Bhool gaye kya 'Ek Duuje Ke Liye' (Have you forgotten 'Ek Duuje Ke Liye')," Salman tweeted Thursday.
The 47-year-old added that the decision to watch a film lies with the people who buy tickets, not anyone else.
"Dekho yaar (Look buddy), it is a movie and there are only two kinds of movies - good or bad. Hit and flop. And (the) only people who (should).

He admits women-centric films are his forte but Madhur Bhandarkar doesn't want to stick to one genre. After a comedy, the filmmaker now wants to direct an intense love story. 'I am a great admirer of Raj Khosla and Vijay Anand. Can you believe the same director who made 'Guide' also made 'Jewel Thief'. I'd like to be known for all genres,' said Bhandarkar. 'I want to make an intense love story like 'Ek Duuje Ke Liye'. I also want to make a thriller like 'Teesri Manzil'. But, yes, hard-hitting women-centric cinema is my forte,' added Bhandarkar, who has ventured into comedy with 'Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji'. His impressive oeuvre of women-centric films include critically acclaimed movies like 'Chandni Bar', 'Page 3' and 'Satta'. Excerpts from an interview: Q: You've hopped genres with 'Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji'?...

Download image as wallpaper Saif Ali Khan is all set to play his first biographical character in Siddharth Anand's 2 States. The role of the Punjabi 'boy' Krish who will marry his Tamilian sweetheart Ananya but only with the consent of the two sets of parents is essentially the story of Bhagat's own courtship and marriage in real life. Saif is expected to spend time with Chetan Bhagat to understand his character and get into Krish's mind. In real life too, Saif is all set to get into a cross-cultural marriage. 2 States is quite a learning curve for the Nawab. Bhagat would like to exercise a more close vigil over the casting of the protagonists than he did in his novel's other movie adaptations like Hello (One Night At The Call Centre) and 3 Idiots (5 Point Someone). In both these cases Bhagat had no say. And he liked it that way.

The bigger the budget... the bigger the names... the bigger the hype, hoopla and razzmatazz... the bigger the expectations from the film. Kites has some of the biggest names in the business - Rakesh Roshan, Anurag Basu and Hrithik Roshan, to name a few - and the film, therefore, carries this gargantuan responsibility on its shoulders. It has to soar higher than the hits delivered by this trio. Anything less will just not do!
The million dollar question is, does Kites fly high? Let me hit the nail on the head: The film has some terrific moments and of course, Hrithik Roshan's star power to cast a spell, but it has plenty of low moments. In fact, Kites could've been a cult film, but its writing relies too heavily on clichés and formulaic stuff and that, frankly, throws a spanner.
