Sex & Nudity

  • Aside from relatively mild insults and references, there's pretty much no sex or nudity at all.
  • An old man showers but no nudity is shown.
  • Occasional sexual remarks and insults are made. One character says to her husband "You're no good in bed!".

Violence & Gore

  • A character grows tons of alien fungus on his body. Not gory, just gross looking.
  • The zombie in the "Father's Day" segment has a very grotesque design, with maggots crawling around it, and writhing decaying flesh.
  • A character shoots himself. It is not bloody or gory, but it may be upsetting.
  • Two zombies that appear in the "Something to Tide you Over" segment have very gruesome appearances. They have wrinkly blue skin, demonic faces, and seaweed covering them.
  • A man is shown cleaning up bloodstains off the floor from the crate monster's rampage.
  • Two characters are buried in the sand up to their heads. When the tide comes in, it drowns them both. One of them is shown on a recording, and another is shown onscreen. Both of their deaths are very drawn out and disturbing.
  • Whenever the lighting turns red and blue, it is a warning that something scary or violent is going to happen.
  • An old man is killed when he is hit over the head with an ashtray. Some blood is shown.
  • A man dies when a voodoo doll of himself is stabbed several times. No blood.
  • A woman's neck is snapped. Later on, the same woman's decapitated head is used as a cake. It has frosting covering it, and candles put into its head.
  • An old woman is strangled to death by a zombie.
  • Several characters are killed by an ape-like monster. One man is pulled into a crate, and we hear crunching noises, screaming, and blood oozing out of it. Another man is slashed by its claws, and then has his neck ripped open with lots of blood splattering all over the place, and cartoonish zig-zag bite marks are shown. Another woman is pulled away and eaten offscreen.
  • Two zombie-like creatures are repeatedly shot with a pistol and black slime oozes from their wounds.
  • A man is killed when he falls into a hole, and a gravestone crushes his head. No blood.
  • A character fantasizes about killing his obnoxious wife. First he imagines shooting her in the head with blood spewing, and everyone applauds him. Then, he imagines strangling her with a tie. Both visions are played in a darkly comedic way.
  • Although the violence in Creepshow is graphic, it is so over the top and cartoony it's more darkly hilarious than scary.
  • A man is killed by tons of cockroaches that crawl all over him, into his mouth, and burst out of his chest.

Profanity

  • 1 use of the c word in the work print and some additional f words that are only heard in the work print.
  • Around 8 uses of "fuck", and infrequent use of milder profanities like "shit", "asshole" and "bitch".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There is some smoking and drinking featured throughout the film. A man drinks beer. A few characters smoke cigarettes. An unsympathetic character is shown to be driving under the influence of alcohol. A man gets somewhat drunk on a bottle of wine and goes off to find another bottle. A character pours his friend a shot of whiskey to calm his nerves.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • When the crate beast rampages, it is pretty intense and is the most graphic segment of the film.
  • When the crate monster (Fluffy) first appears, he pops out of the crate and roars menacingly, before killing his first victim.
  • The film is normally pretty goofy in nature, but some scenes are pretty scary.
  • The crate beast (who ironically is named Fluffy) has a scary design.
  • There is a pretty effective jumpscare in the "Father's Day" segment.
  • The entire movie is meant to feel like a 1950s horror comic. Wacky lighting, goofy sound effects, and even animation appear in the film. Some viewers may find the surreal atmosphere unsettling.
  • The thousands of cockroaches in the segment "They're Creeping Up on You" may gross out some viewers.
  • A man locks two zombies out of his bedroom, thinking he's safe. However, when he turns around, the zombies appear standing right in front of him as a loud sound effect plays. It's a pretty well done jumpscare.
  • The scene in which two characters are drowned in a very drawn out sequence in the "Something to Tide You Over" segment is very disturbing, and a great contrast with the rest of the film's black comedy tone.
  • The witch that appears at the beginning of the film outside a child's bedroom window is pretty scary looking.
  • Most of the effects in the film are done practically, and look pretty convincing, even for today's standards.
  • Scary and jumpy scenes throughout the movie.
