Catering directly to my interests, the Criterion Channel’s January lineup boasts two of my favorite things: James Gray and cats. In the former case it’s his first five features (itself a terrible reminder he only released five movies in 20 years); the latter shows felines the respect they deserve, from Kuroneko to The Long Goodbye, Tourneur’s Cat People and Mick Garris’ Sleepwalkers. Meanwhile, Ava Gardner, Bertrand Tavernier, Isabel Sandoval, Ken Russell, Juleen Compton, George Harrison’s HandMade Films, and the Sundance Film Festival get retrospectives.
Restorations of Soviet sci-fi trip Ikarie Xb 1, The Unknown, and The Music of Regret stream, as does the recent Plan 75. January’s Criterion Editions are Inside Llewyn Davis, Farewell Amor, The Incredible Shrinking Man, and (most intriguingly) the long-out-of-print The Man Who Fell to Earth, Blu-rays of which go for hundreds of dollars.
See the lineup below and learn more here.

Unit Eleven looks fifteen years into the future and sees a world in which, for reasons we’re not told, crime in the UK has risen out of control. To the point where it doesn’t just bring down the government in power, it’s brought down all government. The military has deserted, leading to the evacuation of most of the population. Gangs control what’s left.
As if that’s not bad enough, somebody has broken into a laboratory and stolen a bio-weapon known as Unit Eleven. The government wants it back bad enough to offer a bounty for it. Wire (Theo Cane Garvey), Yayo (Ieuan Parry), Siren (Helen Andrzejowska) and their crew need cash and quick, finding it will solve that problem. They...

Welcome to Adventures in B-Movie Land, the monthly column where I take a look at some of the strangest, cheapest and worst films ever made ... and explore why you have to see them. Look for new entries on the second Tuesday of every month.
The Motion Picture:
'Warriors of the Wasteland' (1982), directed by Enzo G. Castellari
Also Known As...
'The New Barbarians' and 'Metropolis 2000.'
Featuring the Talented...
Giancarlo "Timothy Brent" Prete, Fred "The Hammer" Williamson, George Eastman and Anna Kanakis.
What Is It?
An post-apocalyptic biker movie starring a bunch of dubbed Italians and pro football player turned B-movie legend Fred Williamson. Imagine 'The Road Warrior' with less class, less intelligence, more unintentional comedy, more shoulder pads and a final message that may be one of the most hilariously offensive things committed to celluloid.

A special thanks to this week’s guest columnist: Brian Solomon
I’d like to thank Missy Yearian and Will Melton for inviting me to take part in The Hump Day Threesome here in Fused Film’s Unhinged—and as the first guest contributor, no less. I’d like to, but I’m afraid that what I have to contribute might be construed not as thanks, but instead as some passive-aggressive form of contempt.
Because on this day, in response to their invitation, I’m introducing them, and you perchance, to some pretty bad movies. Not just any bad movies, mind you, but a trio of movies from the Mediterranean–the veritable Fertile Crescent of crap cinema if ever there was one. So strap in and join me in my gondola of god-awfulness as I take you on a romantic journey through the bacteria-ridden waters of high schlock.

Ok, so two weeks into the new column, and I’ve already taken two days off. I’m putting the blame on covering Cruefest (and not my own 16 hour sleepfest I was on). But I would never skip a weekly contest, so here goes.
Today’s photo comes from a little post-apocalyptic gem known as Warriors Of The Wasteland. It stars B-Movie King Fred Williamson fighting against the eradication of the human race. The film takes place in the year 2019, so start stocking up on canned goods now.
This week’s winner will receive a three pack of DVDs from Tartan Asia Extreme Marebito, Bloody Ties, Ab-Normal Beauty.
One runner up will receive Ab-Normal Beauty also from Tartan Asia Extreme.
Send all entries to fangodave@yahoo.com . Do Not Put Them In The Comments Section Of This Page!!!!!!!!
