Real science fiction

I only saw this today. I probably would have thought it sensationalistic if I'd seen it when it first came out. It's about a couple asked to be the first parents to have a truly in vitro baby. Such a concept would probably have seemed unthinkable when the movie was first shown. Today it seems like a very thoughtful film that considers scientific developments just around the corner. This is really the best kind of sf. It's very thoughtfully done and makes the viewer think about the issues that might be involved. And yet it manages to have quite a bit of suspense. I recommend it highly for viewers who appreciated real sf as opposed to space westerns.

A movie of scientific studies!

This movie came out when all the genetics testing and test tube babies were being experimented with. This movie experiments with the same concept. A baby being born outside the mother's body, in a laboratory. IMO, I enjoyed the movie. I'm a sucker for baby movies and this one touched me. At the time it was made, the concept seemed highly unlikely, or very farfetched, but now, it seems more babies are entering the world due to science and technology everyday. A must see, IMO. :)
