The story was loosely inspired by a reallife "pigs versus freaks" baseball game in 1970, a story discussed at the time in TIME Magazine.
Filmed in 1980, but not broadcast until 1984.
The game announcer was played by Tom Harmon, who in real life was a college football player at the University of Michigan and won the Heisman Trophy as the best player in college football in 1941.
Originally scheduled to premiere on NBC on Tuesday, November 11, 1980 but was ultimately preempted by "Smokey and the Bandit".
