The ‘90s were the decade of The Simpsons, sorry Seinfeld. The family was introduced in 1987 through a series of short clips in between skits on Fox’s The Tracey Ullman Show, overstayed their welcome and were spun off. The series debuted on Dec. 17, 1989 with a holiday special, “Simpsons Roasting on An Open Fire,” before hopping on the rotisserie of regular rotation on Jan. 14, 1990 with “Bart the Genius,” directed by David Silverman, and written by Jon Vitti.
The half-hour animated series was created by Matt Groening, who came up with it as a last-second pitch to foil his own plan to animate his comic strip Life in Hell. The Simpsons was produced by TV legend James L. Brooks, who drove The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Taxi, and Sam Simon, who wrote for Taxi and Cheers.
The voice talent continued over from the shorts. Dan Castellaneta performed the voices of Homer Simpson,...

Chicago – The Michigan Rattlers are a group of uncompromising folk-rock musicians who have captured the hearts of audiences everywhere with their timeless sound, rich, deep vocals, and memorable nostalgic performances. The band is composed of lifelong friends and deep-north natives Graham Young (guitar), Adam Reed (bass), Christian Wilder (piano), and Tony Audia (drums).
Their distinctive songwriting ability and soulful performances make the Michigan Rattlers stand out from the crowd, and their heavy-hearted folk-rock sound is infused with an aching dose of Midwestern vibes. Their debut full-length album, “Evergreen,” showcases the band’s solid songwriting chops and instrumental skills, especially in the song “No Depression.” But it’s the live shows that truly define the band’s identity, as they continue to tour relentlessly, bringing their honest songwriting and high-energy rock n’ roll to audiences all over the country.

With the Academy Awards just a month away, it’s the perfect time to look at fun facts, trivia and tidbits for both this year and historically.
John Williams, who just turned 91, reaped his 53rd Oscar nomination for scoring Steven Spielberg’s movie memoir “The Fabelmans.” Three of his five Oscar wins are for Spielberg films. His first Oscar nomination was for Best Music for 1967’s “Valley of the Dolls” and his first win was for Best Music (scoring adaptation and original song score) for 1971’s “Fiddler on the Roof.” And what was the first film he scored? The long-forgotten 1958 Aip release 1958 “Daddy-o.”
In terms of nominations, Williams is second only to Walt Disney. During his 40-plus year film career, he received 26 Oscar — 22 of those were competitive — and a staggering 59 bids. At the 5th Oscars, he won an honorary Oscar for creating Mickey Mouse, while winning the Academy Award for...

In a first-time first-person account of her life and career, legendary singer, actress, director and producer Barbra Streisand will publish her memoir, My Name is Barbra, on November 7, 2023 via Penguin Random House imprint Viking. The Penguin Group made it official on Tuesday, calling the tome “engrossing and delightful.” There have been dozens of books written about the now 80-year-old artist, but this will be the first to tell her story in her own words.
And by account, it’s a lot of words. Pre-order listings have it clocking in at 1,040 pages. Fitting for a woman whose groundbreaking career has spanned six decades and included two Oscars, five Emmys, 10 Grammys, 11 Golden Globes and a Tony as well as countless other awards.
Streisand is among the handful of Egot winners and has one of the most recognizable voices in the history of popular music. She has been nominated for a Grammy 46 times.

Music’s biggest night is officially here! The 2023 Grammy Awards are set to reward some of the most popular artists of the last year with a golden gramophone for their contributions to radio, streaming, soundtracks, TikToks and more!

See the complete list of this year’s winners below:
Record of the Year
“Don’t Shut Me Down” — Abba
“Easy On Me” — Adele
“Break My Soul” — Beyoncé
“Good Morning Gorgeous” — Mary J. Blige

Other performers are also cleaning up with exciting wins. The 2023 Grammy nominee pool was stacked with heavy-hitting artists. On Nov. 15, the Recording Academy revealed the 2023 nominations across all 91 categories, some of which were presented by past Grammy winners like Olivia Rodrigo, John Legend, and Machine Gun Kelly.

“A Star Is Born” is no stranger to the Golden Globe Awards. While the 1937 original pre-dated the 76-year-old awards show, the subsequent two versions collected hardware from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The 1954 remake won acting honors for Judy Garland and James Mason; the picture did not win Best Comedy/Musical Film, which went to “Carmen Jones,” but nominees were not announced that year. The 1976 film, starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, swept the Globes, going 5-for-5. Will Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga‘s version be as successful?
The 1976 “Star” took home Best Comedy/Musical Film, acting awards for Streisand and Kristofferson, Best Original Score and Best Original Song for “Evergreen.” Of course, the biggest difference between the previous two remakes’ Globes runs and the latest “Star” is that the latter is competing as a drama, which has been approved by the HFPA. “A Star Is Born” likely would’ve...
