Bill Mumy, who played "Jackie Chester", the boy with the gun in the original "Bang! you're Dead" episode, has a part as "Supermarket Clerk" in the "Bang! You're Dead!" segment of this reboot.
In the original Man from the South (1960) Steve McQueen played the Gambler and his wife Neile Adams played the girl he meets at the bar. For this remake Steven Bauer was cast as the Gambler and the part of the girl went to Melanie Griffith who was also married to Bauer at the time.
Tippi Hedren and Kim Novak both made cameos in the segment "Man From the South" since both actresses worked with Alfred Hitchcock. Tippi Hedren is also the mother of Melanie Griffith who starred the segment.
In a 2020 interview on the 60MW Podcast, Steve De Jarnatt spoke about his experience making "Man from the South": "That was my first professional job, after doing Tarzana (1978) and turning down about 30 features to direct. And it was the 4th episode in a 4-part TV movie that turned into a tv series. And I was the student filmmaker and the other 3 directors had gone over schedule so there was a lot of pressure on me. But I pulled it off. I was very prepared. I had Paul Chadwick storyboard it and I did the stills, you know, to block the thing."
