- Husband and wife are shown sleeping together twice with sex implied but only bare-chested male nudity. His marital infidelity is implied. She then is infected by a venereal disease from him as a result, and she severs sexual relations with him.
- Married woman and her lover are shown during mid-sexual intercourse, man on top of the woman, when he tells her she cannot move and she responds she finds it excruciating. Nudity includes hairy-chested male and glimpse of her bare breasts.
- There are African women shown bare-breasted, more than once, non sexual. No African men are shown nude beyond bare chests.
- Married woman and single man are implied to have sex in several scenes: once at night on safari in her tent, and several times in her bedroom at home, without nudity. Once they are seen to passionately kiss and undress each other. This love affair began after she and her husband had informally separated.
Violence & Gore

- Birds are shot from the sky. A woman shoots one where it is shown getting shot.
- People protect themselves from animals with guns and, on another occasion, bullwhips.
- There is a scuffle that is quickly broken up.
- A boy is shown with a very bad sore on his leg.

- Wine is a regular part of meals. Champagne is served at a wedding. Whiskey and brandy are used for relaxation. On a couple of occasions, people are clearly drunk. Some of the characters smoke cigarettes.
