I liked this movie
mjs104526 December 2006
Yes, this film is not a work of art, it is, after all, Danielle Steel. But it is highly entertaining. It's reminiscent of the old WWII love stories, a bit shallow but still intriguing nonetheless. Lovely, happily married woman meets dynamic, handsome man with slutty wife - he can't get out of the marriage because he loves his young son, she won't get out of her marriage because she loves her husband. Cheryl Ladd and Lee Horseley make a wonderful romantic couple, and Jane Seymour is positively perfect as the awful, drunken spouse. Add the drama of life in high society, the war, an ugly divorce, etc., you get the recipe for a relaxing night in front of the television with a very large bowl of popcorn! I've watched it over and over again; I really would like to see it released in DVD. I'd buy if for myself, for my mother, for my adult daughters ...................

Jane Seymour is terrific
phd_travel24 March 2019
This is one fine miniseries. The story is sweeping and manages to mix WW2 drama and passionate romance both at sea and on land. The music is gorgeous by Michel Legrand and the costumes are too.

Jane Seymour really steals the show with a terrific performance as the naughty woman. Cheryl Ladd is wonderful too. Christopher Plummer has a jarring French accent.

They don't make them like this anymore.

A nice, "FEEL GOOD" mini-series!

Crossings is an enjoyable mini-series! Yes, it is very Danielle Steel'ish, but that is what makes it so fun. You know that the good guy is going to get the girl.....and you really enjoy watching them overcome the obstacles along the way. Jane Seymour shines as a ....what's that word that rhymes with witch.....let's say she shines as an over-pampered socialite! Cheryl Ladd's performance was also good and Lee Horsley is always nice to look at!

This also was a good adaptation of the book!

World War II romance set in Europe and USA

Warning: Spoilers
I loved this movie and have it on tape so I can watch it again and again. Lee Horsley is a hunk and handsome enough to make a great leading man. He has that laid back southern boy charm, that is perfect in this role. The chemistry between Lee and his leading lady is palpable, you can feel the sexual tension.

Jane Seymour is good at playing a b***h. She is so exotically beautiful that she compels you to watch her, and then when she grabs your attention, her acting talent doesn't disappoint.

Cheryl Ladd is also beautiful, but is more of a classic beauty. Hitchcock would have loved her cool blond looks and sweet smile.

The casting of the two women as the bad girl (dark) and good girl (blond) is like something out of a fairy tale, but works well.

The story is told against the backdrop of WWII in the European theater and the crossings on the Atlantic Ocean from Europe to the U.S. It isn't just one story, but several and gives the viewer and enjoyable four hours.

Alot like the book.
pinkychuklebrain29 March 2001
The storyline is basically the same as the book, except for what revolves around Robert DeVilliers. He was never a character in the book. I thought it was a pretty good movie, but way too long. Although, it was quite interesting seeing Kelsey Grammer in this one.

Overly long for the material
Charles-438 May 1999
This series has about two hours of story stretched out to near five hours. Characters are very shallow. After seeing them for one minute one can usually predict how they will act for the remainder of the story. The story itself is rather predictable.
