Sex & Nudity

  • A man kisses a woman. She then returns the kiss.

Violence & Gore

  • A basketball game features some rough challenges. During an argument about one of them, a player pokes a coach in the chest with his finger. An opponent punches him in the face. This leads to a scuffle before player and coach are ejected. The crowd throw various items on to the court in anger.
  • In another match a punch is thrown leading to a brawl that spills over off the court. A player is shoved into a glass trophy case which breaks. He is assisted from the court bleeding from his shoulder. We discover that he received eight stitches.
  • A man fires a weapon in the air as a warning when a visitor arrives at his place.
  • We are told that the coach received a lifetime ban for physically assaulting one of his own players in a previous team. He later talks about feeling his fist hit the kid's jaw.
  • The coach grabs and shakes a man and sticks his head under the water in an attempt to sober him up.
  • A reference to David slaying Goliath with a stone.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • One of the main characters is an alcoholic and that is clearly depicted. He staggers onto the basketball court under the influence of alcohol. He is often unkempt in appearance. He offers a visitor "a snort" when he arrives. The visitor declines but he proceeds to drink directly from the bottle himself. The coach offers him a job but only on the condition that he can't smell any alcohol on his breath at games and practice. "You can't drink in front of these boys." He admits to not feeling real good when sobering up. He later relapses badly in public.
  • When the coach disagrees with a referee's call he asks him if he's drinking.
  • When the coach first meets the townspeople several of them are smoking, one a cigarette, one a cigar, another a pipe, and the room is smoky.
