Uuno Turhapuro in the country- remembering the man and people around him
Petey-105 November 2009
Uuno Turhapuro, what a character. This man in a string vest has a rich wife and a father-in-law who hates him.He tries to avoid work but yet he finds himself in all sorts of jobs. This time he gets to do work in a countryside.Uuno's father-in-law, Vuoristoneuvos Tuura has decided to move to a countryside with his wife and daughter, Elisabeth, and they wouldn't tell Uuno. But when Tuura is enjoying the silence of the countryside, sitting in his rocking chair, in steps Uuno.He has gotten an assignment with Härski Hartikainen and Sörsselssön to measure the new road, that would go through the mansion Tuura has bought.A lot of stuff takes place, that includes a minister, spy called Greta and Uuno's father Hugo who makes moonshine.Uuno Turhapuro Muuttaa Maalle (1986) is the 11th movie of the Uuno franchise. It's the 4th most successful movie of the series. They even made a computer game to Commodore-64 of this movie. The film is produced by Spede Pasanen and directed by Ere Kokkonen. Those two masterminds are both gone now.Spede died in 2001 and Ere died a little over year ago at the age of 70.Also many of the cast members are deceased. We just recently heard sad news that Marita Nordberg, who played Vuoristoneuvoksetar Reetta Tuura in these movies, died last Friday (Oct 30) at the age of 80.What a marvelous actress and talent we lost in her! And then another sad news reached us, when we heard that the beloved actor Jyrki Kovaleff has lost his battle to prostate cancer at the age of 55.It happened two days ago, on Tuesday. He was in many of these movies playing various characters. In this one he portrays Pankinjohtaja. The great late Tapio Hämäläinen was remembered as the grumpy Vuoristoneuvos Tuura.Marjatta Raita, who played his daughter and Uuno's forgiving wife left this Earth way too soon two years ago.Olavi Ahonen, a great comedian that he was, gives a memorable performance as Uuno's father.Juhani Kumpulainen and Mirjam Himberg, who were married and known from many of these movies, play Kauppias Rentukka and Heiveröinen.Jukka Sipilä, who passed away five years ago, plays Pienviljelysneuvos. The man who played Uuno Turhapuro, Vesa-Matti Loiri, is still among us.He's not in the best shape of his life, but he does do music a lot.Simo Salminen (Sörsselssön) resides at a sheltered accommodation these days.Helge Herala and his wife Marja Korhonen, who play Opettaja and his Mrs. are still in a good shape in this picture.Today these two share a sheltered accommodation and enjoy their retirement years the best they can.Elli Castrén portrays Unelma Säleikko with her unforgettable style.Johanna Raunio, Miss Finland 1974, plays Greta.Risto Aaltonen plays Psykiatri.Yrjö Parjanne, a man from some Uunos of the 80's, and who turned 80 last month, plays Liikenneministeri.Aapo Vilhunen, also a familiar face from these movies, plays Etsivä.Rita Polster plays Sörsselssönska.Tarja Siimes is a secretary.Aarre Karén plays Konduktööri.There is also a certain politician, liked it or not, called Paavo Väyrynen doing Runeberg's poem "Maaherra".Olli Ahvenlahti portrays his funny character Puppe.Main actor's daughter, Jenni Loiri plays Jeremias Turhapuro.Saija Hakola is there playing a customer. And so is Kiti Kokkonen (Ere's daughter). The movie has lots of scenes that make you laugh. In one of them we see Uuno plowing his daddy's potato field. He plows on the road when the plow gets caught to a car.The movie shows a couple of inventions by Spede, "herätyskello" and "keittokone".This movie is a fine way to take trip back in time and remember all those people who knew Uuno Turhapuro.
