David's survival in The Lost Boys comics was always intended to set up a sequel, as he was meant to return for revenge against the heroes. The disappointing sequels to The Lost Boys led to the release of comic books that brought back David as the central antagonist, giving fans a proper follow-up. Despite his apparent demise in the movie, David's determination to live on and seek vengeance further is explored in the comic series, hinting at a future battle.
Surprisingly, David, the main vampire antagonist played by Kiefer Sutherland in 1987's The Lost Boys, actually managed to survive the events of the film. The deaths of the vampires in this cult-classic appear to be permanent; however, one vampire takes the "Never die" aspect of the movie's tagline literally. David's determination to survive against all odds isn't surprising. After all, he was never going to go down without a fight,...

Last month, it was announced that Patrick Wilson, who has starred in the likes of three Conjuring movies and three Insidious movies (one of which he directed), is producing a stage musical adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys (watch it Here). Now that project is taking a big step forward, as Deadline has learned that there’s going to be an industry presentation of the show next month, with Frozen‘s Caissie Levy, Dear Evan Hansen‘s Nathan Levy, and & Juliet‘s Lorna Courtney having been cast in major roles. This private presentation is scheduled to be held on February 23rd – and even though only industry insiders will get to watch it, that’s enough to inspire the people behind the show to release a teaser trailer for what they’re calling The Lost Boys: A New Musical. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

There’s nothing so freaky about “Freaky Tales,” Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s sci-fi omnibus ode to ‘80s cinema nostalgia that takes the definition of “derivative,” packages a bunch of retro cinematic references smugly into winky “you get it, right?” pastiche, and stretches it to its furthest possible event horizon.
The problem with structuring your film around four interlocking chapters, each with its own segueing title card, is if you’re not down with the first, you’ll be counting down the passage of time groaningly until the next. Last time they were behind the camera, Boden and Fleck had decamped their indie roots, including the lovely “Half Nelson” and “Sugar” — films powered by real characters — for the irresistible Faust’s bargain of directing 2019’s “Captain Marvel.” It seems they have not stripped themselves of the MCU’s cheeky, self-reflexive DNA, here writing and directing a film that thinks...

Back in the days of Blockbuster and local video rental stores, there was always that one rack — the one packed with horror flicks with gory-looking covers that scared Eighties and Nineties kids witless. Now, that same vibe has come to Shudder in the form of Josh Forbes’ Destroy All Neighbors, starring none other than Eighties hero Alex Winter.
Winter, star of 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1987’s The Lost Boys, has mostly been in his writer-director era for the past few decades — save for a recent appearance as Bill S.

The Lost Boys was released in an era before vampire movies were once again in vogue; while it wasn’t a huge box office hit, it did serve to reignite interest in the genre, paving the way for many of the vampire films that followed. The film, directed by Joel Schumacher, was highly acclaimed for its casting, as it assembled an all-star team of 1987’s top young talent, including Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Jami Gertz, Alex Winter, and Kiefer Sutherland. With the film now recognized as a cult classic, Speaking at a Steel City Con panel, Sutherland said he knew it was an interesting movie, but had no idea that it would have such staying power. Actor Patrick Wilson is on board to produce a stage musical version of 80s cult film The Lost Boys. More details here:
If all you’ve ever wanted was a musical about some very attractive vampires, you’re in luck. Joel Schumacher’s 1987 cult film The Lost Boys is heading to the stage, with added songs!
Aquaman star Patrick Wilson will be producing alongside James Carpinello and Marcus Chait, as reported by Deadline. Wilson took a stab at directing this year, helming the fourth Insidious sequel, Insidious: The Red Door. While also reprising his role as Josh Lambert in the long-running horror franchise, Wilson also teamed up with Ghost to deliver a cover of the song “Stay” which played over the end credits.
The original The Lost Boys, which also spawned two sequels, followed brothers who moved to a new town, just to find out it’s the prime spot for some vampires.

Patrick Wilson is no stranger to the horror genre, having starred in the likes of three Conjuring movies and three Insidious movies (one of which he directed), among other things – but I never would have predicted that his name would be attached to a stage musical adaptation of Joel Schumacher’s 1987 vampire classic The Lost Boys (watch it Here). Especially not as a producer. But producing a The Lost Boys stage musical is exactly what Wilson is doing, according to Deadline.
Wilson and fellow producers James Carpinello and Marcus Chait are teaming up with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writer/executive producer David Hornsby, Parade director Michael Arden, and the pop rock band The Rescues to make this stage musical happen, through a special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures. Hornsby will be writing the book with Broadway actor Chris Hoch, while The Rescues provide the music and Ethan Popp...

We’ve all got that friend. The one who convinces us to push our boundaries or take that crazy risk, even though we have a hunch we’ll probably get hurt. They’re exciting, they’re cool, maybe even supportive, but they tend to lead us down the road to trouble, only to duck out when the consequences roll around. Film has a long history of these toxic troublemakers. Looking back, the Horror/Thriller genre was practically built on the backs of these smiling devils, who lure us in with their fun-loving wiles, then lead us off the side of a cliff.

The heat is back on in this episode of Revisited, as we follow up our last outing with Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop with the inevitable sequel. Part one proved to be such a mammoth hit that not only helped send Eddie Murphy’s career into the stratosphere but it guaranteed that part two wouldn’t be too far away.
If you take a look back at the 1980s, which is something we love to do here at JoBlo, there are many franchises that started in the era and still have longevity or an influence in modern Hollywood. However, when you have a movie as popular as Beverly Hills Cop, that doesn’t necessarily mean that a sequel will match the quality of the first, and it’s been a problem that Hollywood has faced over the years. Just how, exactly, do you keep your inbuilt audience happy while...

Max will be losing a significant number of beloved movies and TV shows in December, including a handful of Christmas favorites. Titles like Elf, The Master, Happy Feet, A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story, The Polar Express, Fred Claus, Scream (1 through 3), Misery, Spotlight, and dozens more are included on the list. While content removals are a regular part of the streaming landscape, the move comes at a time when Warner Bros. Discovery has placed an increased focus on Max's profitability.
Max is set to lose dozens of movies and TV shows in December, according to a dispiriting new post. Although not the most popular streaming service, Max (formerly HBO Max) has remained a key competitor in the space for a number of years now, boasting a strong library of HBO shows and beloved Warner Bros. films, among many other titles.

Roger Corman's 1960 feature films "House of Usher" was the first film in a long series of Edgar Allan Poe-based movies at American International Pictures. From 1960 to 1964, Corman directed eight Poe films, with all but one of them starring Vincent Price. After "House of Usher," Corman made "The Pit and the Pendulum," "The Premature Burial," the anthology film "Tales of Terror," "The Raven," "The Haunted Palace," "The Masque of the Red Death," and "The Tomb of Ligeia." Technically, 1963's "The Haunted Palace" isn't a Poe movie. It was named after Poe's 1893 poem but was in fact based on the 1927 short novel "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" by H.P. Lovecraft. Poe, it seems, was a bigger marquee name than Lovecraft, so the latter author's story was merely folded into Corman's short-lived but well-remembered Poe subgenre.

Horror movies are the perfect films to watch during Halloween, making it the holiday of choice for many of them. Now, the slasher movie Thanksgiving (itself based on a humorous fake trailer from the movie Grindhouse) is set to give moviegoers a heaping helping of horror on another day of the year. While it's certainly a change of pace, it's not the only explicitly holiday-themed scary movie.
Christmas is another popular time to spread holiday fear, with some movies decking the halls with bowels of victims. Conversely, one fearsome movie explores the concept of a particularly bad birthday through the lens of another "holiday" movie. Add in a European pagan celebration for the changing of seasons, and it's clear that Thanksgiving will have some seasonal competition from discerning moviegoers.

Singer and Lost Boys star Corey Feldman opened up about his new life as a rock star and performing for large crowds in his new uInterview.
Feldman explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers about how he is finishing up his Love ReTours tours this month, which began last year.
“It was a great successful tour, we kept adding legs because it was successful, and it kind of kept growing in its success and its numbers and whatever,” Feldman said. “We just kept kind of getting bigger and better venues and, you know, kind of building as we went.”
He recalled how he was shocked at how big of an audience had gathered for his performance at Riot Fest in Chicago recently.
“I’ve done shows bigger than that with my band Truth Movement,” he said. “We did a show on the Santa Cruz boardwalk one year where I was told they had 60,000 people.

Sofia Exarchou’s “Animal” won the Golden Alexander at the 64th Thessaloniki Film Festival on Sunday, marking the first time in 30 years that a Greek film took home the top honors at the country’s longest-running film event.
Exarchou’s sophomore feature, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, was praised by Variety’s Jessica Kiang as “a poignant portrait of life amid the sequins and the seediness of a Greek resort.” The film follows a group of entertainers at an all-inclusive island resort preparing for the busy tourist season who are forced to wrestle with the dark reality that the show must go on as the sultry Mediterranean nights turn violent.
Lead actor Dimitra Vlagopoulou, who won the acting award at the prestigious Swiss fest for what Kiang called a “riveting” performance, also shared the award for best actress in Thessaloniki. The awards were handed out by a jury comprised of producer Diana Elbaum,...

The Lost Boys quotes made being undead cool and sexy, with memorable lines from both the good guys and the evil vampires. Edgar Frog has the best one-liners, using his knowledge of vampires from comic books to deliver witty and clever quotes. The dialogue from The Lost Boys added a young adult slant to vampire movies, making them colorful and trendy.
The Lost Boys quotes remain something that fans of the cult classic vampire movie still repeat to this day. This 80s hit made being undead not just scary but also cool and sexy long before Twilight made the genre a young adult favorite. Directed by Joel Schumacher, The Lost Boys made vampire movies colorful and added a young adult slant to the entire genre. However, it wasn't just the bright color palette and the trendy music, but the dialogue from the good guys and the evil vampires that made everything seem cooler than dangerous.
