Stefanie Powers goes down Joan Crawford/"Sudden Fear" territory as a publishing company owner in New York who is seduced by a younger man (Hunt Blick), marries him and discovers that he has a life that she is completely unaware of. This leads to the revelation that she has been betrayed by her not so loyal assistant (Deborah Farentino) and that Block and Farentino are in cahoots against her, just like Crawford's younger husband and the conniving Gloria Grahame. Once the strong but vulnerable Powers realizes the truth, she decides to take matters into her own hands.
With her hair dyed blonde, Powers looks closer to Donna Mills than Jessica Hart, and in spite of how dumb her character is in being taken in by the obviously unhinged Block, you can't help but root her her. Farentino, so glamorous as the leading lady of the soap, "Capitol" , is made to look rather plain, but that serves the purpose of disguising her evil nature. Veteran actors Lloyd Bridges and Polly Bergen have good supporting parts. Great Manhattan location footage (especially of Central Park) is a lot of fun. I spite of a ton of plot holes, this is a fun movie of the week that doesn't waste your time or tax your brain, so it's basically unchallenging nonsense.
