Sex & Nudity

  • Man performs CPR on a woman and must open her shirt to use defibrillator. Her breasts are shown.
  • Around the 2:27:00 mark, a man in the lower left corner of the screen suddenly pulls another man's shorts down, revealing his buttocks. The man pulls his shorts back up within 2 seconds. But it's a distracting moment, in what is intended to be a serious scene.
  • some kissing scenes

Violence & Gore

  • In the beginning a submarine crashes and everyone drowns, although this is not explicitly shown.
  • Pressure causes a small underwater vehicle to implode with a man inside. Not graphic.
  • The film depicts a brutal fight between three men. One has a gun and knife, the other a large pipe. The man with the knife receives a bloody gash on his temple, and the man with the pipe a bloody scrape on his forehead. At one point one man tries to strangle the other, but fails. There is some hand-to-hand combat before he escapes.
  • Divers go into a ship filled with several dead bodies floating around in the water. We see a crab crawl out of one of their mouths. The divers recoil at this horrific sight, but are reminded that they were forewarned to expect this.
  • DC: the NTI's show Bud two different videos; one of nuclear weapons exploding, and the second of short news clips that depict real and disturbing violent scenes.
  • A man slices his arm with a large knife.
  • A hurricane causes destruction to a submarine. Several men are trapped inside a room and drown.
  • A man is trapped under a metal door during the hurricane, but he survives.
  • Two mini-subs have a battle, crashing into each other. Half of a man's face is covered in blood during this scene.

Profanity

  • 1 use of "fuck" and 25 uses of "shit", a few of "son of a bitch", "ass", "goddamn", "hell", "Damn", "Jesus", and one use of each - "prick", "Jesus Christ", "dick", "pussy" (used as insult)".

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A man freaks out while under water and goes into a coma.
  • A man is trapped under a metal door during the hurricane, but he survives.
  • The whole film has a very intense atmosphere added to it.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Female character's shirt is ripped off when shocking her with a defibrillator briefly exposing her chest in a very intense scene, not sexual in any way.

Violence & Gore

  • Lindsey intentionally drowns herself to save Bud in the hope she will be resuscitated in time. The team perform CPR and use shock panels. She survives.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • This film features many scenes involving the claustrophobic conditions involved in undersea diving and submarines. In the opening, we watch as a submarine filled with navy men gets flooded and sinks. In one of the film's most intense scenes, a woman decides to let herself "die" of drowning hoping that she will later be revived. In another scene a man gets killed when his submarine implodes due to water pressure. The NTI are quite frightening at times. The giant tidal waves may be scary to some people. Pretty much the entire film is intense and claustrophobic.
