Although the upcoming Jean Grey solo series has been the talk of the town for some time now, it hasn’t been until recently that we got a look inside the debut issue. Well, there was last week’s ResurrXion Spotlight Sampler (I’d say that was worth every penny if it hadn’t been a free book), but thankfully, Marvel didn’t wait too long afterward to release a more substantial preview.
Despite the interiors provided being unlettered, I hope we can all agree that Victor Ibanez did a phenomenal job, as did the others that lent cover art. And although having a slew of variants to choose from is certainly nothing new, True Believers may have a more difficult time than usual selecting which they want to bring home because each are so beautiful and vibrant.

These parents can't set aside their drama for one night. They ruin everything. Why can't they just get along?
Polly's baby shower on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 8 was supposed to be her night to celebrate. After what happened to Jason, I had high hopes. She deserved a better night.
I loved that "Chapter Eight: The Outsiders" focused on the theme of family drama. We got a taste of it on Riverdale Season 1 Episode 5, but this came out in full force. And it wasn't simply a Cooper vs. Blossom battle; the Lodges, Joneses and Andrews joined in the fighting too.
Alice Cooper and Penelope Blossom hate each other!
I know it. You know it. We're feasting on the perfection that is their heated rivalry. (Does that make me sound evil?)
Cheryl: Oh Polly, come stay with us at Thorn Hill!
Penelope: Cheryl's invitation is...genuine. Thorn Hill's gates will always be open to you.

Rita Hayworth in 3-D, in a hot story that was acceptable for 1925 and 1932, but too racy for repressed 1953. I'm off to a Ghostbusters (2016) screening and these questions and a desire to hear your answers suddenly struck me:
1. Which male heavy movie would you most love to see rethunk with a female heavy cast?
2. If you had a vote for Best Original Song in 1984 which of the hit single nominees would you have gone for? (They were all huge hits)
"Against All Odds" (Against All Odds)
"Footloose" (Footloose)
"Ghostbusters" (Ghostbusters)
"I Just Called To Say I Love You" (The Woman in Red)
"Let's Hear It For the Boy" (Footloose)
...or would you have chucked out the nominees altogether to have "I Can Dream About You" (Streets of Fire) "The Heat is On" (Beverly Hills Cop) "Love Came For Me" (Splash), "Together Again" (The Muppets Take Manhattan), "Almost Paradise" (Footloose), "The Never Ending Story" (The Never Ending Story), "Together in Electric Dreams" (Electric Dreams), or maybe five songs from Purple Rain...

Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey has passed away at age 67.
The guitarist had been battling "intestinal issues" for months prior to his passing, and his health troubles prompted the Eagles to bow out of plans to accept their Kennedy Center Honor in December.
At the time of the November announcement, the group's spokesman, Larry Solters, simply revealed Frey needed "major surgery" and required a lengthy period of time to recover.
Frey eventually passed away from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis and pneumonia.
The rocker was a founding member of the Eagles and co-wrote many of the band's hits, including Take It Easy, Lyin' Eyes, and Hotel California.
He also enjoyed a successful solo career after the group's split in 1980, and hit the top of the charts around the world in 1984 with his song The Heat is On from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack. He also ventured into acting, landing a recurring...

"Jurassic World" (Universal) led the way to may be the highest total domestic three-day weekend ever in theaters--and even adjusting for ticket prices-- it's close to the biggest ever in total attendance (approaching 30 million tickets sold). The dinosaurs led the way, but the rest of the pack also showed some strength. No question: "Jurassic World" (Universal) is huge and historic, it's close to 50% better than high-end expectations of its performance. But coming after a muted early summer box office -- hardly a disaster, but not as strong as advance predictions -- for certain titles, with the right timing and all cylinders firing, there's still s shot for a single film to capture massive attention and draw close to 20 million paying customers over a weekend. The heat is on in theaters. The estimated $204,600,000 gross in raw numbers is second-best ever ("The Avengers" is best at $207 million), but also second best when adjusted for inflation,...

Jurassic World recently premiered to overwhelming praise in Paris, and anticipation for the prehistoric franchise update is tremendously high. With the film opening this Friday, Universal has dropped a brooding final trailer for the blockbuster fourquel, as well as a slew of new photos depicting the movie’s human and CGI casts.
An unfortunate result of the studio’s gargantuan marketing effort for the tentpole is that a ton of major plot points have already been given away, so if you want to avoid any further spoilers for the pic, you may be well-advised to skip the trailer and images.
That said, the final preview for Jurassic World is a surprisingly somber and dark affair, reminding us of just how terrifying dinosaurs on the loose can be. Humans (including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Omar Sy, Vincent D’Onofrio and Irrfan Khan) are just no match for the prehistoric creatures,...

One of our most anticipated movies of this fall is without a doubt Gone Girl, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Se7en director David Fincher’s adaptation of the twisty and twisted bestselling thriller by Gillian Flynn. The first trailer for the film was dark and lovely, set to the gossamer sounds of Elvis Costello’s “She,” and the four posters that recently made their way online definitely piqued our interest. Now the second trailer has arrived, clearly marking Gone Girl as the event film of the fall, if not indeed the year.

Swedish group Abba is one of the biggest selling music acts in history, and even though they haven’t recorded together in over thirty years, their music still thrives, thanks to a continued presence in pop culture (including a Broadway show and film devoted to their music).
On a personal level, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad (Frida) were the Bizarro World version of Fleetwood Mac, as they experienced the unraveling of the Agnetha/Bjorn and Benny/Frida marriages during the group’s peak.
Bjorn and Benny were the music masterminds, but it was the presence of Frida and Agnetha that gave Abba their signature look and sound. Today is Agnetha’s 64th birthday, so let’s count down their greatest songs … not just the biggest hits, but some underrated gems, and a few solo songs from the ladies.

This is another edition of Short Starts, where we present a weekly short film(s) from the start of a filmmaker or actor’s career. When people talk of the best modern actor/director duos, they tend to leave out Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. Maybe it’s because unlike 12 Years a Slave (the latest Fassbender/McQueen), Inside Llewyn Davis (the latest Goodman/Coens) and The Wolf of Wall Street (the latest DiCaprio/Scorsese) Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues won’t be winning any major awards this year. But the latest from Ferrell/McKay is scoring high marks from critics and audiences. And since their first feature collaboration, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy, they’ve consistently delivered the comedy goods. Look at the funniest of Ferrell’s movies over the past decade and you’ll see they’re primarily McKay’s. And you won’t even find any movies directed by McKay not starring his...

Listen, we're still reeling from the awesomeness of the last "Man of Steel" trailer. Now there's another one, one that somehow builds on the film's already tremendous momentum. And here are six must-see moments from the action packed. trailer.
You are not alone
"I have journeyed across an ocean of stars to greet you," says General Zod (Michael Shannon) in the trailer's opening. But his greeting isn't exactly friendly. The new trailer expands on the message Zod gave back in a previous TV spot, as he gives Earth an ultimatum: either give Kal-El up within 24 hours or he'll bust out the...

With the resounding success of the page-to-stage-to-screen adaptation of Les Miserables in movie theaters this week - having already grossed more than 100 million since its Christmas Day debut, the biggest ever opening in movie musical history - the eyes of many entertainment enthusiasts are on mega-producer Cameron Mackintosh for what he will do next as a follow-up, as the box office receipts begin to pile up. More than a merely spurious notion, his next project seems to be set in stone should Les Miz journey on to mega-hit movie musical status and it very well might - according to Mackintosh in a recent promotional interview, if the film version of Les Miz actually breaks the half-billion mark he will indeed proceed to produce a film adaptation of another BoublilSchonberg hit mega-musical from the 1980s that he originally presented to the world - the Vietnam-set, Madame Butterfly-inspired Miss Saigon. While...

The heat is on for our ten remaining teams on cycle 21 of The Amazing Race. After losing Rob & Shela in Shanghai, the clue reveals that the duos will next be headed to Surabaya, Indonesia, to the Alun Alun Stadium for their next clue. Abbie & Ryan will get a bit of a head start the next morning as the winners of the first leg. Not that the head start matters much when the first thing on tap is a flight - most everyone gets to the airport at the same time. At the airport, Rob & Kelley think they're onto something when they book a flight that goes to Surabaya via Hong Kong. However, everyone else manages to get a direct flight to Jakarta, without the four-hour layover that the Hong Kong flight has. Rob & Kelley think that maybe they're in the lead because of their choice, but they can't really be...

Our blue Mondays are almost over: "Castle" returns in less than three weeks!
We've seen the premiere, and can promise you this: "After the Storm" is one of "Castle's" most satisfying (inside the bedroom and out) episodes, and it sets the stage for a thrilling season (inside the bedroom and out).
Here's just a hint of what you can look forward to:
The Heat Is On: Don't expect any morning-after regrets between Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic). As we saw in the recent promo for Season 5, the pair are positively glowing. And both enthusiastically agree that their night of passion was no one-time (or, four-time!) fling. As they get busy making up for lost time, you can count on their transition from colleagues to lovers to be perfectly natural (unlike many fizzled TV pairings) and absolutely adorable.
Our Little Secret: One of the most entertaining aspects...

Alright ladies, let's get down to the nitty gritty with this one. This week's episode of Girls "Leave Me Alone" didn't just cover the traditional territory of Hannah being an idiot/ Adam being strange, but went a bit deeper and darker into the super rich topic of women vs. women, girls vs. girls.
First we met Hannah's "nemesis" who recently had a book published, based on a recent tragedy of her boyfriend committing suicide. The whole thing goes over well in the trivial book-celebrity world, but Hannah can't help but feel a mixture of resentment, jealousy and disgust. She should be the writer, not some hack who wants to be "so skinny people think I have a disease." Hannah felt superior in her pessimism, when in reality it was just a fear of succeeding in such a way, so-called "selling out."
Then we had the meeting between Jessa and her old boss Katherine.

The heat is on Miley Cyrus again, this time for what some of her fans (and haters) believe is an anti-Christian tweet the pop star posted March 1.
"Beautiful," Cyrus wrote, accompanying a photo of theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss with a quote of his on the origins of matter, which read: "You are all stardust. You couldn't be here if stars hadn't exploded, because the elements (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, all the things that matter for evolution) weren't created at the beginning of time. They were created in stars. So forget Jesus. Stars died so you can live."
From all of that, followers latched onto two words: forget Jesus.
Some of the responses included, "So are you no longer a Christian? Forget Jesus??? Seriously? What has happened to you out there in the famous world? What????" and "You seriously believe that crap? It's so ridiculously stupid. Go to hell."
This comes on...

It’s the Top Chef Texas Finale, entitled “Finale,” because it is actually, seriously the very last episode of Top Chef Season 9 – no more snowy nonsense, no more Last Chance Redemption Island Of Temptation The Benefactor All-Stars, it’s just Sarah Grueneberg and Paul Qui competing to see who is the better chef: Paul, or Paul and also Bravo made a giant mistake. Sarah kicks things off by declaring “This is the goal I’ve had this entire competition.” She is Locked In. That is also the goal of literally everyone who has ever gone on Top Chef or any competition show. No one’s ever been like, “My goal is to make some friends, cook other peoples’ food, then get eliminated in Week 3 cooking a risotto that represents Daniel Boone’s courage then release a sex tape.” Tom explains that for the final challenge, each chef will design...

When we were younger, my sister and I seized on any excuse for singing, dancing and generally being a bit theatrical. We made up dance routines in the lounge to The Heat is on in Saigon from Miss Saigon, only vaguely aware that it is a song about marines buying prostitutes. As such, musicals and 60s girl groups (who were forever playing in my mother's car) were a regular feature of my childhood aural experience, and they remain a firm part of my adult one.
So, since it married the two so perfectly, I was completely captivated the first time I saw Little Shop of Horrors. I don't remember how old I was,...

We know that this is not an easy decision to make, which is why we are here to help! Next up is Britney’s video for "Womanizer." The video faces off against "3" in the first round and was the first single off Brit’s Circus album. Top Chef Preseason keeps rolling along with Top Chef: Texas Episode 2, entitled “The Heat Is On” (or “The H Is O”, if you’re in a rush, which we are because we have 9 trillion chefs to eliminate before we can start the competition. Literally 9 trillion! They hired the earth’s population many times over this year through advanced cloning techniques, and it’s still surprisingly nonengaging to watch.) Our colleague Noah Garfinkel (aka “Noah Garfinkle” in randomly angry comments) summed up our early-season boredom pretty accurately, saying that the only genuinely gripping aspect of Top Chef comes once you’re familiar with the contestants and are rooting for or against certain ones, and the Texas Twist is merely extending the portion of the show before it becomes engaging. Which makes sense. On the other hand, EMTattoos: This week, we’ll finish up Round Negative One when the third of...

I record all of the shows so that I can re-watch our dance (and the whole program) after every live broadcast - and I am always amazed at the phenomenal job this team does every single week!
