About eight months ago, we heard that Natasha Henstridge of the first two Species movies and John Carpenter’s Ghosts of Mars, among other credits, had signed on to star in Cinderella’s Revenge, which gives the classic fairy tale a horror twist. Last week, it was announced that the film is set to receive a theatrical release on April 26th, courtesy of Iconic Events. Now a trailer has arrived online to offer a glimpse of what this film has in store for us when it reaches the big screen, and you can check it out in the embed above.
This theatrical release is part of an exclusive deal with Regal, with Quiver Distribution handling all other rights in North America.

The film was in production in the UK at the time, with Andy Edwards (Zombie Spring Breakers) directing for Sobini Films. Cinderella’s Revenge has since made its way through post-production, and now The Wrap reports that it’s set to receive a theatrical release on April 26th, courtesy of Iconic Events. Based on the novel by Anthony Burgess, Stanley Kubrick's 1971 film "A Clockwork Orange" is set in the not-too-distant future when roving British teenage gangs have mutated into bizarre, ultra-violent, morals-free hedonists who commit crimes to their hearts' content. The protagonist is Alex DeLarge (Malcolm McDowell) a 15-year-old punk who drinks drug-laced milk before taking to the street with his gang of droogs to savagely and gleefully beat and assault anyone who passes into their field of vision. Alex is eventually arrested and put into prison where the government subjects him to bizarre new rehabilitation techniques in an attempt to turn his mind away from violence.
Throughout, Alex is depicted as clearly beyond redemption. He has no compassion and will never have compassion. When he reads about Jesus Christ being crucified, he imagines himself to be the Roman soldier whipping him. The government's brainwashing techniques only instill in him a...

I’m a big fan of horror movies, comic books and pro-wrestling, and I’m not alone. There’s a cross-over there. A friend of mine in the Us also has those same loves, and he’s been busy putting his passion to work, creating a brand new comic book, working on numerous weekly podcasts and, in the past, releasing horror novellas and shorts. Richard Ewell resides in Tennessee and this independent writer and podcaster has been on a real tear of late, hosting live pro-wrestling shows, delivering top-notch podcast content on a weekly basis and releasing, along with artist Jason Wulf, Nerdy Laser & The Fighting Preceptors, a mini-comic that saw the launch of a new universe mixing pro-wrestling with 1980s cartoons. I had a chance to sit down and talk with Richard about his work, his passions in life and the future plans he has. Here it is…

Stars: Bradley Gregg, Traci Lind, Malcolm McDowell, Pam Grier, John P. Ryan, Stacy Keach, Patrick Kilpatrick | Written by C. Courtney Joyner | Directed by Mark L. Lester
Ever wondered what Mark L. Lester did after Commando? Well, he directed a terrible John Candy comedy called Armed and Dangerous. But then he made this bizarre mashup of Escape from New York, The Warriors and Robocop. It’s not as good as it sounds, but like Arnie’s finest 84 minutes, it’s a barrel of stupid fun – and it’s another Vestron “classic” wrenched from the archives and given a remaster we never expected.
In 1999, youth gang culture is so prevalent that all major conurbations have become “free fire zones”, meaning there is no police presence. They’re essentially lawless. The result is that all the youngsters in 1999 wear S&M leather and wield automatic weaponry. It’s not clear where they get all the ammo and bazookas.

Coming to blu-ray in early 2018 will be Class of 1999, which was originally released in 1990 and designed to be an unofficial sci-fi sequel to 1982’s Class of 1984, which itself received a special edition blu-ray in 2015. Confused yet? In 1982, writer-director Mark L. Lester made Class of 1984, a slightly futuristic action […]

With both The Hatton Garden Job in UK cinemas now, and We Still Steal the Old Way available on DVD from today, I thought i’d take a look at my favourite Top Five Heist/Crime Caper Movies… In order (for a change) they are:
5) In Security
In Security tells the story of best friends Kevin and Bruce, who are co-owners of a failing home security company in a town with no crime. As a last ditch effort to drum up some business, they start robbing the neighbors to instill fear and create a need for their services but bullets fly when they unwittingly rob the wrong guy – a suburban drug lord with a penchant for kitchen gadgets.
It’s fair to say I love a good goofball crime caper, but In Security however has much more than being just a “crime caper” going for it. For one it stars one of my favourite actors,...

Well, I hope you guys have been saving your pennies, because there are a lot of great horror and sci-fi titles coming home on March 14th. Scream Factory is giving Firestarter the Collector’s Edition treatment this week, and both Drive-In Massacre and The Skull are being resurrected in HD as well.
If you missed them during their theatrical runs late last year, both The Love Witch and Paul Verhoeven’s award-winning thriller Elle are getting Blu-ray / DVD releases this Tuesday, and Demon Seed is making its way to Blu-ray as well (which I highly recommend watching if you haven't).
Other notable home entertainment titles for March 14th include Passengers, Z Nation Season 3, Johnny Frank Garrett’s Last Word, Stray Bullets, and The Man Who Could Cheat Death.

Robots have been a staple on the big screen for many decades, showing up as far back as Fritz Lang’s 1927 classic Metropolis and as recently as Alex Garland’s 2015 film Ex Machina. With numerous depictions of robots have come numerous ideas of what they look like, what they’re capable of, whether they’re good or evil, and other such concerns.
Now vimeo user Mennomail has made a mashup of the various robotic representations on the big screen over the years. The video is set to both Fractals by Monea Music and Ich Will by Rammstein, and highlights both the similarities and differences in how robots have been depicted by various filmmakers. Mennomail also released a list of films from which scenes appear, which is as follows:
Films used (in alphabetical order)
1. Automata (2014)
2. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
3. Artificial Intelligence: AI (2001)

Time will tell if Class of 1999’s vision of robot teachers will come to pass, but director Mark Lester was, quite sadly, right on the money with its spiritual predecessor. 1982’s Class of 1984 feature metal detectors at the entrance of the school, something that didn’t actually occur until the ‘90s if my Google searches…

When someone says they're "surviving high school," it can usually be considered an exaggeration, but when it comes to the teachers and students of Lincoln High, there's a literal truth in the phrase. Sinister students stalk the school's halls and don't hesitate to teach their own warped lessons to teachers after the bell rings in Mark L. Lester's Class of 1984. Scream Factory is releasing the early ’80s thriller in a Collector's Edition Blu-ray on April 14th, and we've been provided with two copies to give away to a couple of lucky Daily Dead readers.
"Synopsis: The teachers at Lincoln High have a very dangerous problem… their students!
Andrew Norris (Perry King, Lipstick, Mandingo), an idealistic and naive music teacher, has moved into a new community with his pregnant wife, Diane (Merrie Lynn Ross, General Hospital), only to find his new job is an academic abyss. Appalled by the crime-infested school,...

Detention doesn't solve problems in Class of 1984. The atrocious actions of the unruly students call for a far more intense form of discipline that Mr. Norris is pushed to dish out in the early ’80s thriller from Mark L. Lester. Soon, you can experience Class of 1984’s extracurricular revenge like never before, as Scream Factory's Collector's Edition Blu-ray of the film comes out on April 14th. Ahead of its release, we have the trailer and two clips from the Blu-ray, giving us a look at a young Michael J. Fox and a gun-wielding Roddy McDowall.

The arrival of WolfCop inspires us to take a look back at horror cinema's most unpredictable janitors, doctors, dentists and more...
Can we necessarily trust the dentist who stands over us with a tiny drill in his hand? Isn't the guy who's come round to install our cable television service just a bit too friendly for comfort? And the cop outside in his squad car - isn't he just a little bit, I don't know, hairy?
Some of cinema's darkest, most unpredictable and downright interesting characters often have the most mundane jobs, from teachers to photo developers and taxi drivers to school janitors. It's characters like these we're saluting here - some of them villainous, others strangely likeable despite their dark activities, while others are simply misunderstood.

This week on the show, Jeff (@Jeff_FOTD), Jesse (@DestroySuperman), and James (@DrJimmyTerror) dig deeper into the infamous Lionsgate Horror 8-Pack and continue the unofficial “Bargain Bin Madness” series (because there’s nothing really worth watching in theaters).
The guys shoot the shit about what’s been going on, and talk about the impending 4-year anniversary of the podcast and what’s in store for the rest of 2014. For the featured reviews, they get in touch with their inner Chud and review one of the most infamous “sequels” to ever hit theaters, Chud II: Bud The Chud, and talk about how they wish Stacey Keach was their high school teacher while they review Mark Lester’s Class Of 1999 (easily confused with Class Of 1984).
As always, there’s plenty of ridiculousness and tangents about everything from genre films to the Inner Earth Theory…

In Hollywood, there’s always a battle for attention. The legends and icons are forced to fend off the pretty young things that pop up every year. But sometimes, a generation of starlets and studs are more than just pretty faces — they are the new Hollywood. They transform into talented, award-winning actors who take over both the big and small screen. They include the likes of Jonah Hill, Carey Mulligan, Emma Watson and Shailene Woodley, all of who have been featured in Vanity Fair’s Young Hollywood series.

Every day now as I arrive back at Northwood train station from my day job, it sits there staring me in the face. Big, blue, empty and sad, the shell of Blockbuster Video whose bones have been picked clean by bargain hunters over the last month and whose dead carcass now sits there as an eyesore on the high street, waiting to become a major chain opticians in January. Situated right next door to another locally owned smaller opticians, ironic really considering what Blockbuster did to the locally owned video stores I grew up with.
The signs were there for years really, the end was coming fast and was in the air even before the big financial crash of 2008. The year 1991 is the focus for our latest underappreciated films list, which includes dramas, thrillers, and a smattering of horror...
Ah, 1991. The year Robert Patrick ran after cars in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, and Kevin Costner grew a spectacular mullet for Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves. But outside the top ten blockbuster list, there lies an entire world of other, less celebrated films to discover.
Some of the movies on this list have been included because they were overlooked in theatres, while others have been added because they were unfairly dismissed by critics. One or two others were modest successes, but (whisper it) we decided to include them anyway because we really, really like them.
So here, for your delectation, is our pick of 25 underappreciated films from 1991.
25. Deceived
You think Goldie Hawn, you tend to think comedy, or her Oscar-nominated turn in Private Benjamin.

From dramas to action and everything in between, here's our pick of 20 underrated films from 1990...
Think back to the big films of 1990, and you'll probably immediately come up with things like Ghost, the year's top-grossing film, or maybe Home Alone, which made a star out of the young Macaulay Culkin.
If you're into sci-fi or action, you might pluck Total Recall, Back To The Future Part III or even Die Hard 2 out of your memory banks. But what about all those movies that didn't make it into the year's top 10 ranking films? As ever, there's a huge number of duds and forgettable flops, but there were plenty of films that were wrongly overlooked, too.

That's where this list comes in, which aims to shed a bit of light on 20 films that were either unfairly overlooked by audiences at the time, or have faded rapidly from general discussions about cinema.

Move over, Dinoshark! Here’s comes the new king of prehistoric sea monsters: Poseidon Rex - a humongous, hungry oceanic T-Rex with an appetite for swimmers, boaters, tourists, treasure hunters, and former “Charmed” supporting actors.
From Syfy super scribe Rafael Jordan and Mark L. Lester, the director of Firestarter, Commando, Showdown in Little Tokyo, and Class of 1999, comes the new aquatic monster movie Poseidon Rex!
Synopsis:
A small, secluded island in the Caribbean suddenly finds itself terrorized by a deadly predator from the planet's distant past when deep sea divers accidentally awaken an ancient evil. Jackson Slate and his team of underwater cave explorers unearth much more than long-lost Mayan treasure while plumbing the depths of a world famous blue hole. They disturb a creature that's been hibernating for over 100,000 years -- Poseidon Rex -- a rampaging behemoth of death and destruction not only at sea but also on land.

Welcome to the seventh episode of our new video podcast hosted by ex-Inside Xbox presenter Dan Maher. Each week the guys at Homework ask people to suggest one game that they should play, one film they they should watch and one challenge to attempt…
We’re subscribers to the Terminator school of robotic evolution theory, which is to say that we’re pretty certain one day they will develop sufficient self-awareness to turn on their creators and rule over what remains of our planet while those humans that remain form small pockets of resistance. Also: time travel! None of this has anything to do with our robot-themed episode of Homework, which guest stars Outside Xbox’s Mike Channel and Cornelius & Toots co-creator Simon Chong, and features an incredible clash of cardboard titans.
Game: Binary Domain (Suggested by Chris Taylor): 04:23
Film: Class of 1999 (Suggested by Mike Harrison): 12:35
Challenge: Robot Fight!

Whether you're heading back to school or suffering that annual bout of chem class flashbacks, you know what September means for the young of the world: Nine months of homework, student body drama and teachers that infect their students with parasitic aliens bent on world domination.
Just kidding. We're reasonably sure that only happens in the movies.
Our anxiety dreams are always reignited in August — so as you kids get your back-to-school shopping out of the way and sharpen your pencils (pencils? Remember pencils? Sharpish yellow things with magical scribbling properties?), we'll reflect on nine movie academies that will make you grateful for even the crappiest real-life high school.

How many of you are graduates of the class of 1999? Was your school also under martial law lockdown and your teachers actually military-grade cyborgs reprogrammed for academic professorships? Was “Come the Day” played at your graduation ceremony?
If Roger Ebert put on a film festival for overlooked b-movies, Mark L. Lester’s Class of 1999 would have to be included in the inaugural line-up. Coming out in 1990 during a time in which inspirational movies about the trials and tribulations of inner city school teachers dealing with troubled urban youths (or in the case of The Principal, Jim Belushi doing a ridiculous Walking Tall riff as the badass white high school principal beating up minority drug dealers with a baseball bat), Class of 1999 put a sci-fi thriller spin on the genre by setting things in the dystopian future of 1999 (that year really didn’t turn out so bad in hindsight...

It’s hard to make a movie everyone can enjoy. Being all things to all people only ends up diffuse. But with yesterday’s announcement that Nick Cassavetes will direct Cali, Kristen Stewart lovers and Kristen Stewart haters can finally huddle together for a film both will enjoy.
Cali, you see, features Stewart as the victim of a snuff film. That’s right, Twilight haters. You now have a reason to put down your hard-earned lucre on a movie starring Bella. She makes a snuff film.
Does that sound harsh? If so, you need to open your eyes. There’s a war going on, out here in the trenches of the internet, between Twilight fanatics and fanatical anti-Twilight cadres.
But, at last, with this self-described “vehicle” for Kristen Stewart, Cali presents us with a workable peace plan.
There is so much more to like about this film. I’m a...

The latest in the American Pie series reflects a degeneration into misogyny interspersed by tedium. Don't waste your time
My guilty pleasure is pie. But not just any pie. American Pie. As a late 1990s pre-teen, I found myself drawn into the film's suburban hi-jinks among a group of four straight white dudes, each hoping to shed their virginity before graduation. By coincidence, each of the boys loses their V-card on prom night with varying degrees of romance and hilarity. Subsequent films in the series followed the boys during the summer after their first year at college (American Pie 2) and preparing for the nuptials of pie-humping Jim and band geek Michelle (American Wedding), with a slew of direct-to-dvd titles in between, each with new casts of youngsters capitalising on the successful American Pie franchise.

Review in a Hurry: Jim, Michelle, and the rest of the Class of 1999 return to their hometown for their 13-year high school reunion. As evidenced by Stifler's receding hairline, they've all gotten a little older, but the humor in American Reunion is still late-'90s raunch. Which, for the American Pie series, is exactly what it should be, right? Still, some of this pie feels stale. The Bigger Picture: Though the original American Pie hasn't aged as well as other teen comedies (The Breakfast Club, Clueless), our affection for Pie's characters makes the latest work. Jason Biggs' Jim is still a very good everyman. Alyson Hannigan and series favorite Sean Williams Scott fall back into their roles...

The American Pie gang hasn't been together since 2003's American Wedding when Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) decided to tie the knot, but American Reunion has reassembled the entire cast of the first movie for, as the title implies, a high school reunion. While everyone has either wives, kids or careers, previous trailers have shown that once the East Great Falls Class of 1999 get back together, they'll learn that they still haven't figured out the whole "growing-up" thing.
The latest footage comes from an international trailer, which, while providing new footage, also reveals that the UK has titled the movie American Pie: Reunion, just in case anyone didn't realize it was a part of the American Pie franchise. Biggs and Seann William Scott (Stifler) appear as themselves to introduce the clip and, if the movie is anything like their introductory joke, the sequel's in big trouble.

The last trailer for American Reunion was a Nsfw red band trailer that showed that though Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) have adult responsibilities, the two still manage to get interrupted during some private moments. This latest trailer shows that the rest of the American Pie gang have all grown up, too — even Tara Reid!
The last time the group was together was for Jim and Michelle's nuptials in 2003's American Wedding, but a high school reunion brings the East Great Falls Class of 1999 back together to see what's different and what's the same (Seann William Scott's Stifler, obviously) after all these years. Even Jim's Dad (Eugene Levy) is in a new, single place in his life, though Stifler's Mom (Jennifer Coolidge) may not let it stay that way.

[1] Tough as it is to believe, it's been over a decade since we first met the American Pie cast in 1999. If that made you pause and think "Wow, that makes me feel old," you're just where Universal Pictures wants you to be. The marketing team behind American Reunion has been pushing the nostalgia angle (not surprisingly), and I, for one, have found it totally effective. Their latest effort is a montage of the core cast goofing off inside a photobooth -- a simple idea that might nevertheless have you going "awww" as each familiar face flashes by. Hit the jump to see the slideshow, plus a promo image of the Class of 1999. And here's a small still of the old gang: [2] [via Vulture [3]] Seeing everyone together again, it's striking how some of the actors look exactly the same while others have changed considerably. Kind of like at a real high school reunion,...

The East Great Falls Class of 1999 is getting back together as a fourth theatrical American Pie film will be making its way to theaters on April 6, 2012 with American Reunion and a class photo of the reunited group has just been released featuring Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Tara Reid, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Mena Suvari, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Chris Klein and Alyson Hannigan, but the cast doesn't stop there. Also back for another slice are Eugene Levy, Shannon Elizabeth, Jennifer Coolidge and John Cho with Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle fame directing.
The synopsis tells us these characters are headed back to East Great Falls High School for their high-school reunion and in one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn't and that time and distance can't break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys...

We've already had a somewhat official first look at the nostalgic and presumably raunchy comedy sequel American Reunion by way of a set photo calling back to the original American Pie, but now we have some fun, more polished photos that really bring back fond memories of teenage life. In a photo-booth style slideshow, cast members from the new sequel like Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott and even Eugene Levy pose and make silly faces like it was prom again. In addition, there's a great high school reunion photo with the original cast posing as the Class of 1999. See all the pictures below! Here's the Class of 1999 photo and cool slideshow for American Reunion from People (via Collider): American Reunion is the fourth installment in the comedy series that started with American Pie in 1999. From the director of Firestarter, Class of 1999, Showdown in Little Tokyo, and Commando comes Groupie, a psycho thriller about a psychopathic rock groupie terrorizing a popular rock band on their comeback tour.
Groupie marks the first time Mark L. Lester has stepped behind the camera since 2005's highly rated Syfy original Pterodactyl. Taryn Manning (Hustle & Flow) stars as a mysterious groupie that hooks up with a famous rock band named "The Dark Knights" looking to rise again on their comeback tour. As she insinuates herself more and more into their lives and career, the more death and mayhem follows.
Hal Ozsan ("90210") co-stars at the band's troubled lead singer, along with Betsy Rue (famously naked in My Bloody Valentine 3D) and the venerable Eric Roberts as the band's almost assuredly soon-to-be-dead manager. Michael Feifer (Dracula's Guest) and Randall Frakes (Hell Comes to Frogtown) are credited with the screenplay.

Universal has nabbed their three famous leads from the American Pie series for one last sequel, titled American Reunion, reports What's Playing?. Their article states that so far Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy and Sean William Scott have officially signed on, the rest of the original cast are currently in talks to join also. The general story this time around is the East Falls Class of 1999 return to their California home town for their 10 year High School reunion (this is made possible by Facebook, of all things). When the gang hooks up for one more great weekend, the realization that they're no longer young, carefree teens sets in. Inside the article is a ton of spoilerific content, which I won't write here as it's pretty much the plot of the entire fucking movie. I will say this though, as a teen that grew up on the American Pie films, it'll...

Rick Baker. Friend of apes. Maker of monsters. Seven time Oscar winner. And that lucky number seven was for The Wolfman, shared with fellow Efx maestro Dave Elsey. Their on-stage speech was great, but the extended Thank You Cam was even better. Both Baker and Elsey thanked Jack Pierce and Dick Smith for inspiring them. Though there were grumblings online that the Academy clip showed the CG transformation rather then the make-up. It is always a treat to see our own getting the gold.

If futuristic movies were correct, we would have gotten armed, robot teachers (Class of 1999) and virtual reality that taps into our brains (Strange Days) in 1999, followed by a robot uprising in 2004 (Terminator 3). And all of that after the demise of the human population way back in 1977 (The Omega Man)! 2010 tested the prophecies of five more Sci-Fi movies and, for the most part, proved them wrong. So take a second to stop looking back on all of the horrible 2010 news and remember what movies claimed would happen this year. 2010 could have been worse! Or at least weirder.

It’s that time of year again, kids. Dread Central’s 2010 Horror at the Oscars coverage. Horror was indeed present this year and in black-tie. While Roger Corman and Lauren Bacall were honored a few months back at the Governor’s Award Ceremony, it was an unexpected delight to see Corman, recipient of the lifetime achievement Oscar, enjoy a standing ovation on national television.
I was, however, very disappointed that neither of them were allowed to speak. Roger Corman’s contributions to modern cinema are too vast for him to just stand up and wave. James Cameron was one of many Corman acolytes present, and his nomination speaks to Corman’s tremendous legacy. On the Terminator DVD Cameron mentions, "I trained at the Roger Corman Film School.” Jonathan Demme, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola, among many others, were also former students.
