Larry : Is this like assembly, sir?

Ralph : Right. There doesn't seem to be anybody here except us
Jack Merridew : And a pig
Pablo : It was a wild boar!
Rapper : No! It was a regular pig! Big, but regular!
Piggy : If it was a regular pig then it must have got here from people
Rapper : Yeah, if there's pigs, there's people!
[Rapper snorts, and the other boys laugh]
Ralph : Ok, cadets, like I said, this island's probably uninhabited
Jack Merridew : But we don't know, we've gotta explore more
Ralph : Right, there's a lot of things we gotta do. But the main thing is we're not by ourselves, we've got Captain Benson
Piggy : Can I speak?
[Takes the conch from Ralph]
Piggy : The most important thing is who knows we're here? Nobody knows we're here. They know where we were going, but they don't know where we are because we never got where we were going
Larry : Where were we going?
Piggy : We were going home
Ralph : I'm sure they're out looking for us. We should set up some kind of steady signal like a fire and keep it going all the time. And we're gonna have to have rules
Jack Merridew : Can I have the conch?
[Takes the conch from Ralph]
Jack Merridew : Yes, Ralph's right, we've definitely gotta make a fire

Piggy : We might have to live here for a long time! Maybe the rest of our lives! If we are stuck here until we get old, then we can't go on acting like kids! We've gotta be sensible and make things work!
Ralph : [looking up at Roger pushing a boulder off the cliff] NOOOOO!
[the rock smacks Piggy's forehead, killing him, with blood all over his face]
Ralph : [to Jack] You're not gonna get away with this.
Jack Merridew : Yeah? And what are you gonna do, huh? What are you gonna do about it? You're out of it pal, you're on your own.

Jack Merridew : What won't matter?
Piggy : Whether we get rescued
Jack Merridew : You better start learning to live with yourself, because we ain't gonna get rescued
Piggy : What are you talking about?
Jack Merridew : Just being logical, a plane goes down in the middle of the ocean, there's no wreckage, who's gonna find us?
Piggy : Why don't you just shut up!
Jack Merridew : Are you telling me to shut up?
Piggy : What we need around here is positive people, not people trying to scare people!
Jack Merridew : What we don't need around here is you shitbrain!
Sam, Twin #1 : His name's not shitbrain, It's Piggy!
Jack Merridew : Yeah Piggy!
Ralph : Shut up! Everybody just shut up!
[to Piggy]
Ralph : It's just 'cause you're new
Piggy : No, it's not. It's always this way
[the other boys continue laughing]
Ralph : [to Jack] Just cut it out, ok!

Ralph : [Frustrated] If you guys hadn't let the goddamn fire go out, they woulda seen it
Jack Merridew : Hey man, we were hunting
Ralph : Great, killed a pig. Face it Jack, you fucked up! We could've been rescued!
Jack Merridew : Back off man! I'm sick of your shit and so's my gang!
Ralph : *Your* gang? What's that supposed to mean?
Jack Merridew : What it means colonel, is that if you know what's good for you, you'll stop trying to run everything!
[Jack pushes Ralph, who pushes back. Piggy then steps in to protect Ralph]
Piggy : [to Jack] Stop it!
[Jack pushes Piggy over. The hunters laugh]
Jack Merridew : I'm sick of all this shit! I'm gonna make another camp for hunters! Guys who wanna have a little fun!
Hunters : Yeah!
Ralph : Come on, Jack, that's crazy! We've gotta work together. Come on, what do you say?
Jack Merridew : I say fuck you! And that goes for you too, Miss Piggy.
[to his gang]
Jack Merridew : Come on, let's get out of this kindergarten
[Jack, Roger, Andy, Will, Rapper and Luke pick up the pig they hunted, on a stick, and walk away. John jumps off a tree to join them. Larry and Steve join them too]
Larry : I'm with you Jack
Jack Merridew : Right on, Larry.
[to Ralph's gang]
Jack Merridew : When you other brats get older or get hungry enough, you can come join us too!

Larry : Sir, are you the leader?
Eric, Twin #2 : Jack's the oldest
Pablo : But Ralph's the colonel
[group voices votes for Ralph]
Jack Merridew : I guess you just won the election.
Ralph : It doesn't matter who's in charge. We've just got to work together. First, we build a camp.

Jack Merridew : What's this dumbshit out here about a monster? We're gonna have to send you back to kindergarten!
Larry : I'm serious.
Jack Merridew : Ok what kind of monster? Did it have fur and poison fangs, or long slimy tentacles?
Larry : It growled and it came out of me and it's mouth, it was wet.
Luke : Maybe it was a bear.
Roger : Sounds more like a reptile.
Jack Merridew : Sounds more like bullshit.

Jack Merridew : Rodge, you okay, man? That was some jump.
Roger : I got him. Right up his ass.
Sam, Twin #1 , Eric, Twin #2 , Pablo , Andy : Up the ass!
Will : Come on, cut it out!
Ralph : Stop it!
Will : You dorks, it hurt!
Sam, Twin #1 : I know it hurt.

Ralph : We came here to try and talk some sense to you!
Sheraton : You don't have the conch, doesn't matter what you say!
Piggy : The conch is in our camp where it belongs!
Jack Merridew : What's the matter, tits? Were you afraid to bring it with you? Anyway the conch doesn't count anymore, Miss Piggy-tits!
[Shoves Piggy]
Ralph : Stop that!
Jack Merridew : [Shoves Ralph] Nobody's interested in you and your fucking conch!
[Shoves Ralph again]
Jack Merridew : Why don't you take your fat friend and shove off! You've had all the meat you can eat. Come on, hunters! Roger's the pig!

Jack Merridew : See you tonight, girls.

[At nighttime, the boys are around the fire. Jack is telling a ghost story]
Jack Merridew : The forest was totally dark, but he had to keep going because the "thing" was behind him. The pus was everywhere. He could feel it, and all while the thing behind him kept coming closer. And then, suddenly he realized it wasn't any normal plants or bushes he was trying to run through. It wasn't the leaves or plants that were brushing up against him, touching his arms and face. It was thousands of claws, long claws grasping at him, trying to stop him and hold him for the thing. And he tried to get away, but they held on choking him! He tries to scream!
[Jack screams, then so does Rapper. Simon hears it from another part of the island. Greg cries]
Piggy : [to Greg] It's only a story. It's not real

[the boys are resting on a small precipice. Using a survival knife, Jack carves a face into the rock]
Andy : Are you going hunting for pigs again? I wanna come next time
Rapper : Me too
Jack Merridew : I don't know what I'm gonna do

Peter : Sir? Are we ever going home?
Ralph : Of course we are. As soon as they see our signal
Peter : Jack says that we're never going to be rescued
Ralph : No, you misunderstood him, that's not what he meant
Jack Merridew : That's *exactly* what I meant. There's 8 million islands around here, why should they find this one?
Ralph : [Quietly to Peter] Don't listen to him. We will be rescued, Peter, honest

Jack Merridew : [to all the hunters] I'll get fire, I promise you. Tomorrow, we'll hunt again, but we have to be careful, because the monster might come anytime
Sam, Twin #1 : But didn't we? I thought we...
Jack Merridew : No! It could come again anytime, in any shape! Just when we're not ready, it could be there!

[the boys are trying to make the first signal fire. Jack is trying to use sticks]
Ralph : Here, let me try
Jack Merridew : I got it, I got it. Shit! Damn! Mother...
Piggy : Swearing won't help
Jack Merridew : [Shoves Piggy] Listen Piggy! Shut your fat ass!
Ralph : Hold it! Hold it! Hey, wait a minute. Piggy give me your glasses
[Ralph takes the glasses off of Piggy's face]
Piggy : Hey, give 'em back!
Ralph : Trust me
Piggy : What are you doing?
[Ralph uses the lens to focus the sunlight on the wood. Moments later a fire starts, but it goes out of control]

[Ralph is hiding behind a fallen tree from the hunters, who have set the forest on fire. Ralph sees Jack walking very slowly through the bushes, meters away from finding Ralph. The Twins find Ralph, but don't make it obvious]
Jack Merridew : See anything over there?
Sam, Twin #1 : [Lying] No
Sam, Twin #1 , Eric, Twin #2 : Nothing
[the Twins walk away. Behind the other side of where Ralph is hiding, Roger sees him]
Roger : Jack!
Jack Merridew : Get him!
[Ralph runs out of the bush, the hunters chase after him]

[the first night after the boys arrive on the island, they're all sleeping except Simon and the Pilot]
The Pilot : [Whispers] Water... water...
[Simon leaves, and by dawn he's made it to another part of the island, eventually finding a river. He drinks from it, then when he returns to all the other boys who are still sleeping, he wakes up Ralph]
Simon : Sir, sir. I found water
[Cut to all the boys going to the river and drinking from it. Ralph, Jack, Roger, Pablo and Rapper walk to the highest point of the island, and are awed by the tremendous view]
Jack Merridew : [to Ralph] Well, that's it, Colonel

[Jack and Roger are by the fire, where Sheraton and Tony are. Jack takes fire from a stick]
Jack Merridew : You should've seen it. He was scared shitless
Tony : Do you think there was something in there? Some kind of wild animal or something?
Jack Merridew : I know it. We heard it growl
Sheraton : Is it close?
Jack Merridew : Just over the big rise behind our camp. Real close
Tony : Holy shit
Jack Merridew : I just thought you ought to know
Tony : Yeah
Jack Merridew : Thanks for the fire
[Jack and Roger walk down the hill where the Twins walk up with Peter]
Tony : Here come the reserves
Jack Merridew : Better keep on your toes tonight, cadets
Sam, Twin #1 : What do you mean?
Jack Merridew : You'll find out
Eric, Twin #2 : [Referring to the flaming stick] What are you doing with that?
Jack Merridew : The next time we kill a pig, we're gonna have a barbecue

[Ralph and Jack are walking together down a beach]
Ralph : I don't know if he can hold up, I mean what if he suddenly gets really sick?
Jack Merridew : Man, you've gotta stop worrying so much, we got it made. No parents, no teachers, no academy, no girls. Of course, I wouldn't mind getting a little every now and then
Ralph : [Sarcastically] Like you ever got any
Jack Merridew : Well, I still wouldn't mind
[Jack pushes Ralph over, Ralph then does the same to Jack, playfully, then Jack pushes Ralph over again and Ralph lands on his cast]
Ralph : My arm!
Jack Merridew : You okay?
[But Ralph was just pretending, and kicks Jack down]
Ralph : Psyche!
[Both boys laugh. Then cut to Ralph and Jack in the jungle looking for the pig. Jack has a knife. They see the pig, and Jack quickly charges, but the pig gets away]
Jack Merridew : [Frustrated] Nearly got him. Next time
[Jack whacks a branch with the knife]
