Members of the Writers Guild of America at Sesame Workshop and management avoided a strike after reaching a tentative agreement on a new five-year collective bargaining agreement, the guild announced on Friday.
According to their press release, the writers, who include members of WGA East and WGA West, won historic jurisdiction and minimum rates for animation and new media programs produced by Sesame, protections against artificial intelligence, paid parental leave benefits and substantial improvements to new media residuals.
The 35 members of the bargaining unit will vote to ratify the agreement in the next few days.
“We are so proud to work for an organization that values its writers, and we believe this new contract will positively impact writers throughout the children’s media landscape. ‘S’ truly is for Solidarity. We are glad to have a contract in place that allows Sesame to do what it does best – lead,” the WGA...

Far Cry 7 has a tentative release window of fall 2025 and fans and players are hoping that the game takes care of some of the repetitive issues of the franchise. The open-world games produced by Ubisoft have a couple of things in common – they boast of huge and explorable open worlds and the Npc interactions are repetitive which do away with player immersion in the game.
However, with the launch of its new AI tool, Ubisoft may finally be en route to putting those issues behind them. The new AI tool by Ubisoft’s R&d department La Forge, Ghostwriter, is capable of helping scriptwriters with the immersion mechanism.
The AI-generated ‘neo-NPCs’ might just be the answer to making Far Cry 7 a totally immersive and lived-in experience for all gamers.
Ghostwriter AI To Revitalize the Far Cry 7 Experience
One telltale sign of the Far Cry franchise has been its repetitive Npc interactions.

Janice Burgess, the two-time Daytime Emmy winner who created the beloved animated musical series The Backyardigans for Nickelodeon, has died. She was 72.
Burgess died Saturday in hospice care in Manhattan of breast cancer, her former Nickelodeon colleague Brown Johnson told The New York Times.
The Backyardigans ran for four seasons on Nick Jr. from 2004-13 and was a big hit with preschoolers. It centered on five animal neighbors — Uniqua, Pablo, Tyrone, Tasha and Austin — who meet in their shared backyard and embark on imaginary and magical adventures, often visiting different parts of the world or traveling back or forward in time.
Burgess was a production executive at Nick Jr. when she came up with the idea for a live-action show called Me and My Friends, with the characters wearing full-body puppet costumes. When execs didn’t go for that, she suggested computer animation to get The Backyardigans greenlighted.

10 Things I Hate About Julia Stiles
I hate that her idgaf attitude was not present in more 90s teen rom coms.
I hate that I totally forgot about the movie Save The Last Dance.
I hate that she doesn’t get the respect she deserves.
I hate that I thought she was in that movie Swimfan.
I hate that she got stuck doing generic rom coms.
I hate that her character in the Jason Bourne franchise never got a spin-off.
I hate that I really haven’t seen much of her later work.
I hate that she tricked me into liking Shakespeare as a teen.
But most of all, I hate the way I don’t hate her – not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all. Oh, and I hate that I don’t know what the heck happened to her?
So let’s find out: Wtf Happened to.

As the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences continues to figure out how and when to finally hold this year’s Daytime Emmys — delayed in June due to the WGA strike — it has gone ahead and announced the nominations for this year’s 2nd Annual Children’s & Family Emmys.
There’s no date yet for this year’s Chidren’s & Family Emmys — NATAS is likely waiting for a hopeful soon resolution to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike before firming up dates. But last year, winners were announced during two ceremonies—one focused on creative and technical arts, and the other to performances and programming—at Wilshire Ebell Theatre on December 10 and 11. This year’s Cafe will likely be held around the same time — and NATAS could very well use that timeframe to simultaneously finally hold the Daytime Emmys as well.

I’ve watched enough Doctor Who to know time is a complicated construct with rules fluctuating from one interpretation to the next. Thankfully, Rhys Darby’s Casper has time travel all figured out in Relax, I’m From the Future, a new time-traveling comedy that finally breaks the multiversal merry-go-round we’ve been riding for the past few years. In today’s exclusive Relax, I’m From the Future clip, Casper dismisses the Butterfly Effect and misinformation about multiple realities.
The scene finds Casper and Holly (Gabrielle Graham) discussing multiversal misnomers in a dimly lit diner over piping hot mugs of jitter juice. Casper explains how there’s only one reality, and that time is more like a mushy blob than anything we’ve seen in movies. Doc Brown lied to us, folks! Oh, the humanity! While branching paths in the timeline exist, they eventually converge in the same direction, leading toward a pre-determined future.

The viral song “Heart on My Sleeve,” which features AI-generated vocals mimicking the voices of Drake and The Weeknd, has been submitted for Grammy consideration. However, after initially suggesting the song might be eligible, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. is now changing his tune.
Mason Jr. backtracked on his comments in an Instagram video on Friday. After opening the clip by saying he wanted to clarify “bad and really inaccurate information” that’s been floating around, he said “Heart on My Sleeve” was not eligible because the vocals weren’t cleared and it’s not available commercially. It’s worth noting that the comments don’t address the AI origins of the song.
“Let me be extra, extra clear: Even though it was written by a human creator, the vocals were not legally obtained, the vocals were not cleared by the label or the artists, and the song is not commercially available.

Sorry, Ghostwriter, but the Recording Academy just handed you a big boo.
Seeming to walk back some apparently unpopular comments he made earlier this week to The New York Times, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. took to social media last night to deny that “Heart On My Sleeve,” the hit viral, A.I.-assisted song by the mysterious music creator known only as Ghostwriter, will be eligible for Grammy consideration.

After a report this week that a viral AI song that mimics vocals by Drake and The Weeknd was submitted for consideration for next year’s Grammy Awards, Recording Academy chief Harvey Mason Jr. took to social media on Thursday night to shoot down “inaccurate information” around the eligibility of AI songs.
On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that Ghostwriter, an anonymous artist who produces AI tracks featuring the computer-generated vocals of artists such as Travis Scott, 21 Savage and more, would submit his viral AI track “Heart on My Sleeve” for Grammy consideration. The track, which uses AI vocals to mimic Drake and The Weeknd, was uploaded to music streaming services Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music on April 4, but was quickly taken down after a copyright claim by Universal Music Group.

When he’s not pining for Blackbeard’s embrace on Our Flag Means Death or reprimanding werewolves for using foul language, Rhys Darby fights for the future of humankind! Blue Fox Entertainment‘s Relax, I’m From The Future trailer is here to tickle your ribs after the long Labor Day weekend. The sci-fi comedy hails from Luke Higginson for his feature directorial debut. In addition to operating the camera, Higginson wrote the screenplay and edited the film inspired by his short film of the same name that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 10 years ago.
In the Relax, I’m From The Future trailer, Darby stars as Casper, a time traveler trapped in the past who befriends Holly (Gabrielle Graham), a jaded drifter. They exploit his knowledge of the future, oblivious to the consequences they have set in motion, while a more competent time traveler, Doris (Janine Theriault), tries to stop them.

Sometimes, the people who make the biggest difference aren’t the ones who grab the spotlight. In “Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie,” we get to see firsthand how our lovable introvert, Marcie, makes a monumental difference from behind the scenes for both her friends and her community. To train for the school golf championship, Marcie assists Peppermint Patty as her caddie, offering thoughtful and deliberate advice to help her win. Meanwhile, after coming up with brilliant solutions to her classmates’ problems – from hallway traffic jams to lunchtime pizza shortages – Marcie is unexpectedly elected as class president … a role she never wanted.
Suddenly thrust into the spotlight, Marcie struggles to cope with the expectations of her new job and retreats as far from the public eye as possible. As the golf championship begins, Marcie is still in hiding and Peppermint Patty is forced to tee off with Charlie Brown filling in as her caddie.

Speedy Ortiz have unveiled “Ghostwriter,” another look at their upcoming album Rabbit Rabbit. Listen to the single below.
As a nu-metal homage, “Ghostwriter” finds Sadie Dupuis seething with rage — a reasonable reaction to this summer’s boiling heat, and what that means for the future ahead. Rather than breaking stuff, however, the bandleader tries to find a more productive release.
“While ‘Ghostwriter’ ruminates on the horrible realities that stoke my anger — in this song’s case, the death of our climate and the criminalization of environmental protesters — it’s also about trying to live with less rage in the day-to-day,” Dupuis explained in a statement. “And not always succeeding, but not getting mad about that, either. And sometimes directing that angry adrenaline toward positive actions.”
Dupuis continued, “My bandmates picked ‘Ghostwriter’ as a single, perhaps because it subtly nods to our unabashed love of nu-metal. It was really fun to...

On Friday, the Recording Academy did for artificial intelligence what film and TV have yet to do: It drew a line. Quite simply, AI can’t win a Grammy. Only a human can be submitted for, be nominated for, or win music’s highest honor.
IndieWire called up a real, live human being, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., to walk us through his stance. Perhaps the striking writers guild and likely striking screen-actors guild can use this as leverage. At least, it should provide more leverage than the pending directors guild agreement.
Bottom line: If a song or album doesn’t have “human authorship,” it is not eligible for Grammy submission in any category. A human must write the music and/or lyrics, and a human needs to perform the music.
However… that does not mean AI is banned. If a songwriter uses AI to create an AI-generated vocal track,...

When Sesame Street and Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood debuted in 1968, they didn’t just usher in a golden age of puppetry on TV. They also set standards for inclusion and education in children’s programming that the industry is still trying to live up to, decades later. Especially at the studios that launched them.
Developed for Children’s Television Workshop (now Sesame Workshop), Sesame Street paired producers with educators to create programming designed to support and empower young viewers from lower income and underrepresented backgrounds, and populated its Manhattan-inspired set not only with a colorful menagerie of Jim Henson’s Muppets but also a racially diverse human cast.
Meanwhile, Henson’s friend Fred Rogers, the eponymous creator, host, head writer, lead musical composer and chief puppeteer of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, leaned on the expertise of child psychologists like his own mentor, Margaret McFarland, to help children navigate their feelings, relationships, self-image and curiosities.

Speedy Ortiz have announced Rabbit Rabbit, their first album in over five years, due out September 1st on bandleader Sadie Dupuis’ label Wax Nine. They’ve also shared the album’s lead single “You S02,” and announced US tour dates for 2023.
“You S02” is rife with Speedy Ortiz’s signature poppy, ’90s style guitar rock a-la Splendora. Like previously-released single “Scabs,” it gets lyrically personal in Dupuis’ experience with some of her musical heroes, this time diving deeper into the ones who could use a little more humility.
The song title pulls from the Netflix series You, referencing how Penn Badgely’s character moves from one coast to another without at all becoming a better person. “Changing cities won’t make you a hero if you still treat others badly,” Dupuis said in a press release.

Artificial intelligence is slowly permeating the music world, and the prospects are perilous. Over the past year, songs have been released emulating the voices of Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and pop icons. Still, it feels like the most sparks are flying within hip-hop, where AI enthusiasts are involved in full-fledged digital projects. A viral Drake and the Weeknd AI cover titled “Heart on My Sleeve” amassed 8.5 million views over the weekend before being taken down this week.

Over the weekend, a song using fake Drake and The Weeknd vocals purportedly generated by AI went viral after being posted on YouTube and other streaming platforms. Now, it’s been pulled from streaming services after Universal Music Group issued a statement (via Billboard) that criticized “infringing content created with generative AI.”
Titled “heart on my sleeve,” the track was created by anonymous TikToker ghostwriter977, who uploaded it to major streaming platforms under the moniker ghostwriter. Opening with Metro Boomin’s producer tag and lyrics from both artists about The Weeknd’s ex Selena Gomez, it actually sounds like a collaboration that the rapper and singer would make.
“I came in with my ex like Selena to flex, ayy,” AI “Drake” raps on the chorus. “Bumpin’ Justin Bieber, the fever ain’t left, ayy.” Meanwhile, “The Weeknd” sings, “Got these pearls on my neck, got these girls on my check/ Like Selena,...

Metro Boomin‘s producer tag puts his signature stamp on “Heart on My Sleeve,” the viral song featuring what sounds like vocals from Drake and The Weeknd. But he didn’t have anything to do with creating it — and neither did they.
The record, which features line after line of lyrics fated to become Instagram captions, was created from scratch by the anonymous TikTok user Ghostwriter977 using artificial intelligence. Since being uploaded to the short-form video app on Saturday, April 15, “Heart on My Sleeve” has amassed over 11 million views across seven promotional videos.

As expected, the Radio Silence-directed Scream VI is another box office win for the franchise, the sixth installment surpassing the opening weekends of every other Scream movie.
At this time it’s being reported that Scream VI scared up $44.5 million in theaters here in the United States this weekend, compared to last year’s $30 million opening for Scream 5.
This gives Scream VI the highest opening weekend of any film in the entire Scream franchise, far surpassing previous record holder Scream 3 and its $34 million opening.
Here are the domestic opening numbers for each of the previous movies…
Scream (1996) – $6 million Scream 2 (1997) – $32 million Scream 3 (2000) – $34 million Scream 4 (2011) – $18 million Scream (2022) – $30 million
Last year’s Scream ended up making $81 million domestically and $140 million worldwide, so those are currently the numbers for Scream VI to beat when all is said and done.
Worldwide, Scream VI has currently slashed its way to $67 million.
