Ouija opened last night at 8 Pm in 2,061 houses and scared in $911K to start its weekend off in what is expected to be a spirited opening for the micro-budgeted Blumhouse horror film. It is expected to best the other newcomer, the Lionsgate actioner John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves, which pulled $870K in over 2000 locales. A couple of comps to look at for this violent, R-rated film is last year’s Escape Plan (also R-rated and also opened in October), which ended up pulling in $258K for a $9M opening, and then the PG-13 rated Red 2 which bowed this summer to $825K for an $18M opening weekend. Others are looking at November Man which opened in August on a Wednesday grossing $862K and opened to $7.9M, but that had a very different demographic makeup — it skewed much, much older with both males and females.

It’s already been a big hit on the festival circuit, and now the soundtrack to the soulful, feel-good dramedy “St. Vincent” is ready cozy up to your ears in a similarly warm and amicable way. Starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, and Naomi Watts, “St. Vincent” centers on a disillusioned young boy, rocked by his parents divorce, who makes unlikely friend and mentor in the misanthropic, bawdy, hedonistic war veteran who lives next door (played by Murray). A soundtrack disc, and an additional album featuring the original score by Theodore Shapiro, will be available digitally on October 21st and on CD on October 27th. Classics from the 1960s and 1970s, like Bob Dylan’s “Shelter From The Storm,” Brewer & Shipley’s “One Toke Over The Line,” and Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody To Love,” fill the movie, and Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy provides two songs as well: the funky “Everybody Hides” and the laid-back “Why,...

I bring forth a little featurette called “Living Life” as well as a clip in which Bill Murray sort of sings along to Bob Dylan’s “Shelter From The Storm”. St. Vincent is such a Bill Murray movie in the best way possible and if you’re not convinced yet, there’s this great clip from the movie […]

Bill Murray won over Toronto audiences with St. Vincent, in which he plays a curmudgeonly retired vet who takes a 12-year-old (newcomer Jaeden Lieberher) under his wing. Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts, Chris O’Dowd, and Terrence Howard also star in the feel-good pic from first-time director Ted Melfi. Harvey Weinstein was high on the film at Tiff, where Deadline’s Pete Hammond called this the best performance of Murray’s career and predicted awards gold. Here’s a sneak peek of Murray singing along to Bob Dylan’s “Shelter From The Storm” in the film’s end credits. The Weinstein Co. strategically opens the film on October 10, expands it a week later and releases it nationwide on October 24.

If you don't know who Nat Wolff is, a) you might be living under a rock, and b) you will soon. The high school senior just wrapped work on the much buzzed about indie flick "Palo Alto," in which he portrays a character from the twisted imagination of James Franco. There are also pictures of him making out with Selena Gomez all over the internet right now -- granted, he was shooting a scene for his role in "Behaving Badly," but don't think it hasn't gotten tongues wagging.
Perhaps best known as one half of the "Naked Brothers Band," Nat took a break from the Nickelodeon spotlight to grow up and reappear in front of cameras as a young man -- a remarkably talented and winsome young man. Among his upcoming film roles, Wolff stars opposite Tina Fey and Paul Rudd in Focus Features' upcoming "Admission." A songwriter and multi-instrumentalist,...

While Miley Cyrus isn't the first person to come to mind when making a wishlist of artists to cover Bob Dylan songs, we have to admit -- we're really looking forward to this album.
Miley and a host of her contemporaries have joined forces to pay tribute to both Bob Dylan and Amnesty International with a new cover album. The record, titled "Chimes of Freedom," features a huge variety of artists -- from Pete Seeger to Ke$ha.
"Glee" star Darren Criss even makes a contribution to the four-disc compilation, covering New Morning with his brother, Chuck Criss, and his band the Freelance Whales. The jam-packed album, which "salutes Amnesty International's 50th anniversary and life-saving human rights work," is set for a January 24 release. Check out the list of songs and artists below to see which classic your favorite singer will be covering.
