Did you know
- TriviaPurposely released on Friday, January 13 because the Tales From The Crypt movies were originally to be tied with traditional "horror weekends" such as Friday the 13th or Halloween.
- GoofsWhen the group is huddled at the top of the stairs, Braker asks Deputy Bob how he is doing on ammo. The Deputy checks his revolver and says "Not so good...4 shots left." Later, when the Collector gets past the bloodshield, and the Demons are convening on the group, Deputy Bob yells at Braker and the others to get into the attic while he covers the rear. While the others are climbing into the attic, Deputy Bob fires off six rounds at the demons, instead of four.
- Quotes
The Collector: [Brayker has just burned his face with the Key causing him to jump off the window] HUMANS... You're not worth the flesh you're printed on...
[taking off his outfit]
The Collector: Fuck this cowboy shit! You fucking hoedown, podunk, well them there motherfuckers! All you had to do was give me the goddamn key! Then we could get on with our lives.
[cuts his hand to make new creatures]
The Collector: Alright... this house is hereby... condemned...
- Crazy creditsAt the end of the credits, there is a short sequence of The Cryptkeeper
asking the audience why they are still there and then inviting them to see
the next Tales From the Crypt theatrical release Dead Easy (Which was the
working title for the follow up Tales From the Crypt film, Bordello of
Blood).
This sequence existed on the VHS and DVD releases of Demon Knight, but was removed on the Laserdisc and Blu-Ray versions of this film.
- Alternate versionsIn the Sci-Fi channel version, the scene where Uncle Willy is tricked by the Collector was altered so that the girls in the scene would be wearing bikini tops.

Brayker (William Sadler) holds up in a rundown motel as The Collector (Billy Zane) is constantly following him. It turns out that Brayker has an important artifact that could destroy The Collector who just happens to be a demon. Soon everyone in the motel are being stalked by the demons.
The HBO series was an incredibly popular back in the day and it still has a pretty good cult following today. It's a little shocking that it took so long for the producers to bring this to the big screen but it finally happened in 1995 with TALES FROM THE CRYPT: DEMON KNIGHT. Is this a good film? Not really but at the same time there's no question that it's a tad bit better than the majority of the horror films that were out during this period.
Watching this movie today is actually a lot different than when I watched it back on its theatrical run. I say that because when viewed today you can't help but be impressed with the rather extremely good cast that is on hand here. Not only do you get Sadler and Zane but there's also a young Jada Pinkett, Thomas Haden Church, CCH Pounder and even the legendary Dick Miller has a small part. I thought Zane easily stole the picture as he's a lot of fun playing the bad guy as he always is. His charm and sly humor with the role makes it a memorable and fun one.
The film also benefits from some gory special effects. The demon designs really aren't anything fresh or original but I thought they were good enough for this type of film. The kills scenes are mostly memorable with a bunch of heads being blown or ripped apart. There's also a memorable scene with Zane throwing quite a punch. Heck, you've even got Miller going into make-up for the first time in his career. The kill scenes are certainly worth watching and they add some fun to the movie.
What keeps the film from being better is the fact that the story itself just isn't strong enough to carry a 92-minute running time. The idea of a horror film dealing with the Crucifixion of Jesus could have been used in so many great ways but there's just nothing done with it here. This probably would have worked much better at a half a hour or a hour at most but when they stretched the running time it just added a bunch of scenes that seem to do nothing but drag things out.
