Sex & Nudity

  • David's former childhood crush Victoria grows up to become a sex education teacher, and that is talked about several times. No other sexual humor outside of that. No nudity.

Violence & Gore

  • Some of the violence is played for light comedic effects while at other times it turns surprisingly dark. In the opening flashbacks Roscoe is seen hitting David multiple times (no blood), David's son is seen hitting a boy a couple times before getting in trouble (also no blood), Roscoe pulls other pranks on David such as flicking peas at him, having him slip on vegetable oil, and tripping him. Later on in the film Roscoe is seen shooting nails around David with a nail gun. He is not hurt however. The film gets very dark towards the end, but there is no extreme violence throughout.

Profanity

  • 4 uses of shit 2 paired with bull 1 use of pussy, freaking and bastard
  • Surprising amount of profanity for a PG rated film. "Pussy" is said once during the flashback scenes. "Bastard" is said once, "Shit, and bullshit" are used many different times, "ass" is used a few times, a couple "hells and damns."

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • David and his friends enjoy some drinks in a bar midway through the movie. David's friend is shown smoking in the beginning flashback sequences as a child. Adults smoke at various times.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Roscoe tells David in the beginning that he urinated in his apple juice. This could be gross to some viewers although David pours out the urine immediately when he realizes it. The bullying scenes are pretty intense and likely to upset sensitive viewers. The ending turns dark and may be too intense for younger viewers.
