This was Spede Pasanen's final and least successful film. It was screened for two weeks in one theater, getting only 316 viewers and has never been released on video or DVD or shown on television.
The principal photography took place already in May 1993, but the film was finished only several years later and mainly so that producer/director Spede Pasanen would not have to return the production support money from Finnish Film Foundation. The length of the film 70 minutes 11 seconds is also due to the fact that Finnish Film Foundation production support required minimum of 70 minutes for a feature film. However, apparently Pasanen did make some miscalculations and eventually had to return 567 456 Finnish Marks.
The final version of the film is actually the first edit which was not supposed to be seen by the public. Film editor Pekka Lampela completed the first edit from the scarce material that had been shot over several years. He told Spede Pasanen more material was needed for the final version. Pasanen ignored his request and the first edit became the final version, much to Lampela's surprise.
Spede Pasanen was infamous for not receiving funding from the Finnish Film Association despite sending several applications over the years. In the early 1990's the FFA had changed their criteria for handing out funds and Pasanen received one million Finnish marks to film Naisen logiikka (1999). The 81-page script he had send to the FFA was never used during the filming and none of the actors saw the script before shooting. Pasanen wanted to complete the film with as little money as possible, so actress Riitta Väisänen's house was used as a set and the film only featured four actors, all of whom were Pasanen's close friends.
