Some disturbing stuff has happened on “The Walking Dead” over the course of eight seasons, but what occurred in this Sunday’s episode was straight up cruel. Ezekiel slowly broke down over the course of the episode titled “Some Guy,” and a lot of that had to do with what happened to his fiercely loyal tiger, Shiva — who he rescued from the zoo where he worked. Let’s just say it wasn’t pretty. Also Read: 'Walking Dead' Fans Mourn Beloved Character Who Just Went Out in a Blaze of Glory After focusing basically the entire episode on...

Have you ever noticed how some bands seem to play the same song over and over again? There might be a few chord changes and the lyrics are certainly altered but when you listen to it you’re thinking to yourself “haven’t these guys done this exact same song before?” For example, remember when Bon Jovi did “Blaze of Glory?” I couldn’t figure out if that or “Wanted Dead or Alive” was the same song or one was the extension of the other. It happens all the time in music. Sometimes you take a hit, tweak it a little and just

Yet another Daily Show correspondent is striking out on his own: Comedy Central on Tuesday greenlit a news satire show led by Jordan Klepper.

It was a lifetime ago. It was just moments gone by.
Tuesday will mark twenty years since my wife, Kimberly Ann Yale, died.
I’ve been working on a column discussing the passage for some days but haven’t been satisfied with it. Sometimes you try to say something and can’t find the right things to say. I’ve come across an old column I wrote ten years ago. Just about everything I wanted to say I said back then so, if y’all don’t mind, I’ll just reprint it here.
Today is Thanksgiving and a hearty Happy Thanksgiving to you all. As it turns out, it’s also the birthday of my late wife, Kimberly Ann Yale, who would have been 54 today. This is a day for stopping and giving thanks for the good things in your life and so I’ll ask your indulgence while...

Once a blockbuster staple, the power ballad was the ultimate movie accompaniment. We look back at some of the classics...
For a glorious period from the mid-80s throughout the 90s, the biggest summer blockbusters were only worth their salt if they had an equally gargantuan song at the head their soundtrack. Often the success of one was inexorably linked to the other, with the likes of Four Weddings And A Funeral's feats matched and even exceeded by Wet Wet Wet's accompanying Love Is All Around.
The greatest and most successful songs belong to the power ballad genre, and are as emotionally charged and forceful as the gods of epic balladry such as Journey, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi and Meat Loaf. As the 90s became the 00s and the charts became increasingly irrelevant, the movie ballad became almost defunct, with even the song-dominant film soundtrack being...

The X-Men have more lives than a cat with a lazarus pit. They’re probably the super-team in both Marvel or DC with the highest percentage of its membership having died at one point or another, and come back to life. And that’s saying something.
Cyclical death patterns are part and parcel of comic book law, of course, with deaths of major and minor character used as a common technique to boost sales, but the X-Men suffer more than most. The mutants tend to fall victim to a high mortality rate due to their popularity, and the sheer amount of them makes it easy to pick off the occasional member. It happens with such alarming frequency that even the characters make light of it.

Sound on Sight undertook a massive project, compiling ranked lists of the most influential, unforgettable, and exciting action scenes in all of cinema. There were hundreds of nominees spread across ten different categories and a multi-week voting process from 11 of our writers. The results: 100 essential set pieces, sequences, and scenes from blockbusters to cult classics to arthouse obscurities.
Shootouts, unlike any other type of action scenes, put death in the forefront of the audience’s mind. Whereas a car chase draws the attention onto the race, or a fight scene onto the pursuit of victory, shootouts test the mortality of our protagonists and anti-heroes. Pleasure as it’s been to watch Justified embrace the fact that the end airtime is nigh, there’s a certain comfort in seeing the show slip back into habits that defined its spring and fall seasons. There’s also a fair bit of discomfort that comes too, when the habit in question is Justified’s patented Mid-Season Rut™, which is known for flaring up annually around this time. “The Hunt,” while by no means a bad episode, is a reminder that Justified’s great when it comes to stockpiling explosives and watching the fireworks, but has always had some difficulty when it comes to lighting the fuse.
“The Collection,” “Foot Chase,” “Whistle Past the Graveyard”: all episodes of Justified that lay in the seasonal minefield that hours six through eight have come to represent. What do they all have in common?Well, none are particularly good episodes of the show.

Following a recent trend, none of the nominees have made it to the top of the BIllboard Hot 100 chart, which tracks the success of singles by looking at radio play, online streaming and sales.
Following the announcement of the nominations, “Glory” made its debut at No. 25 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart dated Jan. 31 and is currently No. 92 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fxx has released a hilarious trailer for the tenth season of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The trailer is called "Blaze of Glory," and it features the gang all decked out in retro looking space suits and helmets as they walk towards and enter, what looks to be, a giant rocket. The promo parodies the awe-inspiring greatness of space exploration, but as you'd expect from these amusingly dumb-ass characters, they don't think things through, and the outcome of their adventure doesn't turn out very well for them. The full ninth season of the hilarious comedy series was also recently added to Instant Netflix, so now you can watch it whenever you want!

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 10 doesn’t premiere until for a couple months on Fxx, but we’ve already got our first trailer for the new season of the long-running comedy series. And although the video doesn’t actually feature any real footage from It’s Always Sunny‘s upcoming tenth season, that doesn’t meant it’s not hysterical. In the trailer for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 10, the Gang is treated like heroes, even getting a slow-motion-esque walk as they head towards what they believe to be a rocket that’s going to launch them into outer space but, in all actuality, is really just a cannon (because of course it is). Although it centers on Frank, Mac, Dennis, Dee, and Charlie (as it should), the trailer is also filled with numerous cameos from countless It’s Always Sunny recurring characters, such as the...

If you’ve been watching the fifth season of Justified then you know one of the subplots is observing the relationship between Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) and his work-dad and boss, Deputy Art Mullen (Nick Searcy) disintegrate after Raylan confesses his role in the murder of one of Theo Tonin’s henchman. Art’s response to Raylan’s disclosure was connecting a right hook to his marshal’s face. Since then, things have been icy and Raylan has gone as far to request a transfer out of Kentucky. It may not be as fun as hunting Drew Thompson, but Art has had a volatile season so far including being a part of one of the most intense scenes in the show’s run. We caught up with actor and “Acting School Teacher” Nick Searcy to talk about the latest season of Justified.

Did you know that only one other Oscar ceremony has ever been held on a March 2nd? That'd be March 2nd, 1944 which crowned Casablanca 1943's best picture. Let's hope Oscar chooses as well tonight.
May your favorites lose tonight ... if they're different than mine! Kisses.
Though Casablanca is one of those rare pictures that virtually everyone loves, it actually only won three of its eight Oscar nominations that night: Picture, Director (Michael Curtiz), and Screenplay. Only Hitchcock's Rebecca (1940) won fewer Oscars among the Best Pictures of the 1940s with just two statues. So I don't wanna see any online snarking if 12 Years a Slave goes home with only a 2 or 3 statues including the big one. Spreading the wealth is not a new thing and i'd argue it's a healthier thing for the movies, too.

This is the curse of a great story, as well as its blessing: You can always tell it over again. "The Secret Fate of All Life," True Detective's fifth episode and its best thus far, is preoccupied with storytelling and with repetition. Conspiracies, confessions, cover-ups, heroic archetypes that can be slipped into like a costume, occult prophecies that lock you into your life like a cell – each of these narratives helps turn the story of Marty Hart and Rust Cohle's finest hour into a labyrinth neither of them seems capable of escaping.

One of Mel Brooks’ (History of the World: Part 1) best comedies, Blazing Saddles has a new featurette and collectibles on this 40th Anniversary Blu-ray.
The 1974 movie has Brooks’ signature crazy laughs and Brooks himself as a dimwitted politico.
The film tells the story of a black sheriff (Cleavon Little, TV’s True Colors), who’s appointed by a corrupt political boss to ruin a western town. But, with a little help from friends like Gene Wilder (Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory), Sheriff Bart turns into a formidable adversary.
Another Brooks’ movie regular, Madeline Kahn (Nixon) also stars in Blazing Saddles, as a Marlene Dietrick-style chanteuse, and she was nominated for the Supporting Actress Academy Award for her performance.
The film also was nominated for Best Editing and Best Original Song “Blazing Saddles,” but alas didn’t win for any of them.

Wow, that was a tour de fucking force.
Shot as a single uninterrupted six-minute take and spanning an entire neighborhood, True Detective's climactic gunfight was the best TV action sequence since the Blackwater episode of Game of Thrones.
'True Detective' and 60 More Reasons to Love 2014
It showed us something about Matthew McConaughey's Emmy-bait undercover cop Rust Cohle, how for all his fatalism, his first instinct when breaking into houses while armed to the teeth and coked to the gills is to get any innocent bystanders into bathtubs for stray-bullet protection.

Millions of people have heard Steve Jablonsky's music, even if they've never heard of Steve Jablonsky. The 42-year-old composer has written the scores for the last five Michael Bay films, including all three "Transformers" movies and Bay's latest, "Pain and Gain."
"The one thing Michael Bay does, and I tell him this every movie, is he gives me this huge stage. People are going to see his movies, no matter what," Jablonsky told HuffPost Entertainment. To his point: The "Transformers" franchise has grossed over $2.7 billion around the globe. "He's presenting me with audience to hear my stuff just because he's got the audience already. I'm very appreciative of that."
Jablonsky assisted on scores for the Bay films "Armageddon" and "Pearl Harbor," but didn't get his big break until "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," the horror reboot that Bay's Platinum Dunes production company produced in 2003. His work there impressed Bay, especially because of Jablonsky's compensation.

This year, both Taylor Swift and Adele are nominated for the honor. Swift's "Safe & Sound" got "The Hunger Games" a little recognition, while Adele's "Skyfall" (which we're betting our money will win) got that film its only nod as well.
Also on the list are Jon Bon Jovi for "Not Running Anymore" in "Stand Up Guys," Keith Urban and Monty Powell for "For You" in "Act of Valor" and Claude-Michel Sconberg for "Suddenly" in "Les Miserables.

With apologies to beach-based sunsets and the sight of puppies asleep, is there anything better than flashback episodes of The Vampire Diaries?!?
The CW smash delivered another mythology-heavy thrill ride with "The Five," as we went all the way back to the 12th century; learned of a cure (yes, a Cure!) for vampiredom; witnessed Elena lose control of both her body and perhaps her heart; and discovered a key connection between Connor and Bonnie's new mentor.
And Rebekah got staked. And Stefan struck an alliance and Klaus. And a hybrid was beheaded. Yes, it was an eventful episode...
And with Stefan being forced to strike a deal with the devil (Klaus' words, not mine!) in order to live on the prayer of saving Elena from the pain of her first kill, please indulge me as I rundown the installment via song titles from classic rock band Bon Jovi...

When I think back to the first time I truly fell in love with movies, it was while watching Goodfellas at twelve years old. It was my first encounter with Scorsese, DeNiro, Pesci and abundant violence. It was like a wake up call (I know at 12 years old that seems hyperbolic, but compared to The Little Mermaid, it was like witnessing the Sistine Chapel in person). After that I started researching DeNiro. I learned about his legendary filmography and created a “Must Watch” list. Then I moved on to Scorsese. Then it branched out into Oscar winners, foreign films, etc. Goodfellas was my catalyst, and from that point on I knew that I found something that I was truly passionate about. Even though it opened me up to movies in general, it also started an obsession with crime films that I still have today.
