The next entry in the Resident Evil series may not be the mainline game, if that is what the fans were hoping for. However, that doesn’t mean they would be deprived of games until its arrival. They are likely to get one; they just don’t know what. The fans have put forth their speculations on the internet, and it appears like they want a multiplayer experience.
Lately, fans have been speculating about the different aspects that Resident Evil 9 would include. Some leaks suggested that the game is going open-world this time. That may also explain the delay, as a potential transition from linear narrative wouldn’t be a walk in the park for developers.

Metal Gear Solid, Kojima’s successful game series, is now considered one of the biggest and most important video game series of all time. So, what makes this series famous and enables it to sell millions of units around the world? Definitely the stealth mechanics and cinematic cutscenes that draw the player in.
2015 marked a significant milestone for the Metal Gear Solid franchise. It was the year when Kojima decided to transform Kojima Productions, which he established within Konami in 2005, into an independent studio. Unfortunately, following this divergence, things did not go well for the franchise.
Konami Can Revive Metal Gear Solid Kojima won’t be involved in the upcoming remake.
Players haven’t received anything from the series since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which was last released in 2015. It looks like they’ve run out of patience and think it’s time to get something. So,...

From venue changes and the pandemic to political backlash and the threat of litigation, Salem Horror Fest founder and director Kay Lynch has never been one to back down. The festival’s seventh annual event, which kicked off last night at Salem’s Peabody Essex Museum, was further proof of her resilience.
After its original headliner, Hocus Pocus star Kathy Najimy, canceled with less than 48 hours notice, the festival’s entire opening night ceremony was restructured. Tickets, which had sold for $50, were refunded and the program was made free (with the option to make a donation), costing the festival an untold amount of money.
But the show must go on — and it did so in spectacular fashion with horror icon Linnea Quigley sitting down for a live interview, while the Hocus Pocus screening was replaced by The People’s Joker, previously scheduled to be the festival’s closing film.

Only a handful of people can recall the gem A Knight’s Tale, starring Heath Ledger. Director Brian Helgeland recently disclosed that despite consideration for a sequel to the highly acclaimed film, Netflix’s algorithm predicted that the movie wouldn’t be worth the effort. Now, fans are discussing another disappointing sequel that was recently released, Zack Snyder’s brainchild, Rebel Moon: Part 2, which many believe should never have seen the light of day.

The video game autuer Hideo Kojima has never failed to surprise fans with his work. Too bad several of his ideas didn’t come to fruition. The Metal Gear Solid creator once desired to develop a zombie game, unlike the typical games in the genre we see today. Players would have had to play it with great care, as they wouldn’t have gotten another chance to.
Hideo Kojima is known for his unique approach to cinematic storytelling in his video games, which is a result of his strong passion for literature and film. And he’s also a fortune-teller; he just doesn’t know it.
Only if Hideo Kojima’s Ideas Were Accepted Would Metal Gear Rising Have Been Different
Kojima guided the Metal Gear series from 1987 to 2015.

It’s undeniable. Fallout is an absolute hit, and the age of terrible TV adaptations and low expectations is behind us (Halo notwithstanding). After years of sub-standard, terrible adaptations like Resident Evil, Max Payne, and countless others, we gamers thought we were in for the long haul while waiting for good quality TV and movies. Well, that wait is certainly over.
First, we got The Last of Us, then the critically panned but as-equally fun The Super Mario Bros. Movie which was an incredible Mario experience, if a terrible film, and now we have the excellent Prime Video Fallout. And this wealth of good gaming content on the big screen means a few knock-on effects in the actual gaming space.

Action shonen anime dominates the medium, for better and worse. Every big franchise eventually gets an original movie — or a dozen. "One Piece" has 15, "Dragon Ball" 24, and "Naruto" has 11.
The problem is that these mostly tend to be non canonical movies without much consequence. They are cute, fun adventures, for sure. Still, they are more concerned with providing fan service than providing substance. The best ones are those that manage to make the most out of their non canonical status and present truly experimental movies, like the best of the "One Piece" films.
Now comes "Spy x Family: Code White," a movie based on one of the most popular manga, published in Shonen Jump magazine — which makes this technically a shonen anime movie, regardless of its actual genre. The premise is simple. Loid is a spy, Yor is an assassin, and together they fake a family for convenience (and for...

Resident Evil films, as we know them, could’ve been different only if the late George A. Romero had entered the arena. He was an American-Canadian director known for the Night of the Living Dead series, which was also a major contributor to shaping the presentation of zombies as we see them today. Little did many know that he was this close to directing the first Re movie.
The first film in the action-horror series arrived in 2002, starring Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Joseph May, and more. Though the movie was a commercial success, generating $103 million in revenue against a $33 million budget, it wasn’t received well by the fans and critics. What’s more, it landed on the most hated list of renowned Chicago Sun-Times journalist Roger Ebert.

However, while promoting the film, Snyder opened up about the future of the ever-evolving franchise. The director revealed that he had several more installments in mind and planned for at least six more films.
A still from Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver
While Snyder seems optimistic about the future of the Rebel Moon universe, there is a disturbing trend about Netflix’s original slate that might worry some fans. Given Netflix’s past history and treatment of some popular franchises, it is likely that Rebel Moon might meet an untimely end. There was a moment in Japanese culture when writers and filmmakers began to update centuries-old fears so that they could still be effective storytelling tools in the modern world. One of the best examples of this is how extremely popular stories like Ringu and Parasite Eve began re-interpreting the cyclical nature of curses as pseudo-scientific “infections,” with this new take on J-Horror even making its way over to the world of video games in titles like Resident Evil (a sci-fi deconstruction of a classic haunted house yarn).
However, there is one survival horror game that is rarely brought up during discussions about interactive J-Horror despite being part of a franchise that helped to popularize Japanese genre cinema around the world. Naturally, that game is the Nintendo Wii exclusive Ju-On: The Grudge, a self-professed haunted house simulator that was mostly forgotten by horror fans and gamers alike despite being a legitimately...

Maid of Sker hardly set the world on fire when it launched back in 2020, but it had its merits and deservedly attracted a cult following of sorts. Which is rather fitting if you think about it, given the title’s folk-horror themes.
As we pointed out in our review, Wales Interactive’s chiller managed to (just about) distinguish itself from all of the other first-person spookathons that were clogging up Steam at the time, thanks to its uniquely British setting and an understated, gothic atmosphere. One that evoked the feeling of a classic 19th -century ghost story.
Fusing together aspects of pan-Celtic folklore and Greek Mythology, its breezy 3-hour campaign was rife with intrigue and gripped us right from the off. Among other things, we were fascinated by the legend of an ethereal siren that somehow washed ashore on the Welsh coastline; the aristocratic family that then exploited this creature...

Arrowhead Gaming Studios’ Helldivers 2 is certainly one of the most popular games in the world right now, so naturally, many other developers are looking to collaborate with Arrowhead to give fans exclusive crossovers. Dead by Daylight‘s official X account recently posted a Player Satisfaction Survey in which fans were asked to answer various questions about the game.
Helldivers 2
One of these questions asked fans to describe their experience with various popular video games and Helldivers 2 was also a part of this list. The list consisted of many other games like Payday 2, Left 4 Dead, and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. Many fans believe that this survey was conducted in order to analyze players’ demand and plan a crossover accordingly.
A crossover between Dead by Daylight and Helldivers 2 is indeed a bit unusual but there is a character in the game that could lead the Automatons in this crossover: Berserker.

Every year, gamers ask themselves: Is this the year video game movies finally gain some respect? And the answer in the year 2024 might, actually, be yes.
No, none of the three video game adaptations that came out this year have been outright critical successes. Quite the opposite, actually: critics saw “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” as unremarkable and mediocre, “Gran Turismo” as a glorified advertisement, and “Five Nights as Freddy’s” as a complete borefest. But the movies all performed respectably at the box office, with “The Super Mario Bros. These successes all affirm that, for better or worse, video game movies are hot right now. And with a new “Sonic the Hedgehog” film and “Borderlands” coming out this year,...

New data from Ampere Analysis shows that shows like ‘The Last of Us’ have helped raise public perception of video game adaptations.
Many fans of the “Fallout” video game series are likely already burning through the first season of the TV adaptation on Prime Video. “Fallout” Season 1 bowed on Amazon’s streaming service on April 10, and initial reviews suggest that critics are just as excited about the show as those who spent thousands hours playing the games. Adaptations of video games have often been a tricky nut for studios to crack, but new data from Ampere Analysis shows that as the quality of such projects has improved, so too has their popularity.
Ampere’s data found that search volumes for video game adaptations have risen, while comic book adaptation searches have fallen. Fan perception of the quality of comic book adaptations has fallen, and studios are responding by making big changes to their comic franchises.

Plot: Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them.

What’s the saying? Oh yeah… third times the charm and the Resident Evil series is no exception. For our third outing we’re here to explore the aftermath of the apocalypse with Resident Evil: Extinction (watch it Here). This one is pretty divisive with the consensus being some people, like myself, loved this film while others felt this was the beginning of the downward slope of sequels of the franchise. Hear me out as to why I sing its praises. For one, it tells a cohesive story and gives us a side of Alice that we’ve been dying to see. We get more new characters that bring gravitas to the story as well as a fully fleshed out villain and it’s a lot of fun. Plus, its pays homage to The Road Warrior in the best way. So, let’s hit up the Sand Dunes of Vegas,...

Saban Films has picked up the worldwide rights to The 4:30 Movie, which Smith will be taking on a multi-city national tour that will be followed by a nationwide theatrical rollout. Specific dates have not yet been revealed.

As Screenlife storytelling transitions into the livestream era, movies like Michelle Iannantuono’s Livescreamers have me most excited. Early Screenlife films like Unfriended and The Den read like one-takers but are computer-set events like someone recorded their computer monitor or laptop screen. What Livescreamers offers — or examples like Spree, Deadstream, and #chadgetstheaxe — is the propulsive energy of a continuous stream devolving into chaos. Creators who put on celebrity identities face dreadful realities, not the protective online bubbles they’ve built where their antics draw millions of views. Livescreamers cherrypicks elements of Stay Alive, House on Haunted Hill, Unfriended, and cringy video game playthrough streams to create something horrifying that both sells its chills and comments on the vulnerable current state of livestream culture.
Low-budget restraints might hold back specific effects, and the film’s narrative throughline is a little wonky in spots, but what Iannantuono accomplishes comes from a place of authenticity.

Demon’s Souls. Dark Souls. Bloodborne. Elden Ring. These games made FromSoftware into a household name, but they have been making games since the mid 90s in a wide variety of genres. The King’s Field and Armored Core series were some of their other most popular series, with the later series getting a new entry last year, but one of their smaller titles has always been their most intriguing to me.

Wrestlemania week begins tonight with Raw but you can kick it off with the over-the-top gory and insanely fun home invasion slasher Here for Blood, available on all digital platforms and also our Screambox streaming platform.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Platinum Dunes, the production company headed up by Michael Bay and Bradley Fuller, are teaming up with director Jonathan Liebesman – who they previously worked with on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and their 2014 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – to make a werewolf movie called Wolf Night. Now Deadline reports that Wolf Night has found a home at Sony’s Screen Gems.
Michael Bitar is overseeing the project for Screen Gems, while Alex Ginno does the same for Platinum Dunes.
Screen Gems has put out a whole lot of horror movies over the years, with titles including Don’t Breathe, Resident Evil, Underworld, Deliver Us from Evil, The Grudge, Carrie, The Stepfather, Prom Night, The Pope’s Exorcist, Insidious: The Red Door, and the upcoming Tarot. Getting compared to Elden Ring is a big accolade for any game. Dragon’s Dogma 2, the controversial game, has now been hailed by Marcin Momot for having an effect like Elden Ring on him. The director of Cyberpunk 2077 took to X to wax lyrical about Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Released on 22nd March 2024, the game is already mired in controversy regarding the numerous bugs and framerate issues coupled with the sleuth of microtransactions. Capcom, the publisher and developer of the game, is known to keep tons of microtransactions in its titles as has been evidenced in the Far Cry and Resident Evil franchises.
Despite backlash from fans, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has gotten unexpected support in the form of the Director of Cyberpunk 2077.
Marcin Momot Compares Dragon’s Dogma 2 With Elden Ring
Hidetaka Miyazaki’s masterpiece Elden Ring is considered by most as the gold standard when it comes to open-world RPGs.

The reactions to Netflix’s sci-fi epic 3 Body Problem are, if anything, inconsistent. The reviews from top critics are all over the place, from lavish praise to disses and everything in between. Viewers are similarly split, with some fans of Liu Cixin’s novel criticizing the series for its bold adaptive choices, and many others saying 3 Body Problem is one of the best genre shows they’ve ever watched (one might say it’s a chaotic era of 3 Body Problem reactions). Yet among fans who have finished the show so far, one consistent reaction is emerging: The show’s cliffhanger ending (no spoilers here) left them really wanting to see what happens next.

New leaks hint at Dragon’s Dogma 2 not being the only open-world game from Capcom for a while. After a recent info dump by industry insider Dusk Golem, Capcom’s upcoming projects seem to be following a pattern of innovation and evolution.
Known for its iconic franchises like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, the company seems to be delving into new territories while retaining the essence of these beloved series.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Might’ve Set a Precedent for Resident Evil 9
RE9 might follow the open-world formula of Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dusk Golem explains that Capcom tends to greenlight new initiatives in threes, often in close succession. This pattern has been observed in the past with games like Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5, which were all greenlit closely together to use the full extent of the (at the time) new Re Engine.
(1/2) So here's a little tidbit I'll share,...

While Capcom is busy apologizing for the performance issues and microtransactions in Dragon’s Dogma 2, there’s a new rumor about the next main Resident Evil title. Popular leaker Dusk Golem claimed in an X post that Resident Evil 9 will feature an open world.
Dusk Golem has backed this claim with an interesting pattern Capcom has been following lately. The leaker pointed out that the Japanese publisher applies new initiatives to three titles at a time, and there are several examples to solidify this theory.

First, Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2, and Devil May Cry 5 were greenlit quite close together, and all of them used the new Re Engine developed by Capcom.

At long last, Master Chief has arrived at his destination. It wasn’t a fake out, it didn’t end in an annoying rug pull at the last minute. John-117, Cortana, and unfortunately Makee have landed on the Halo ring. The next phase of the story is truly ready to begin! It took Halo two seasons to get to the events of the game it’s based on, but it did so in rip-roaring fashion in a finale full of twists and turns and…lots of death. In fact, the Halo season two finale clears the board of most non-essential secondary characters as it moves to its new ringworld setting. Even the manipulative Admiral Parangosky meets her demise in shocking fashion.
But despite the vast improvements this second season has made to the series as a whole, its finale also makes one questionable storytelling decision...

The Fallout TV series is right around the corner and has fans buzzing with anticipation. It’s the latest in a long line of game adaptations for television, joining the likes of Halo, The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Resident Evil and more.
However, as we go into season one, a key question lingers among many fans: what’s the long-term plan? Have the creators planned future seasons, or will season one be the end? Series co-creator Jonathan Nolan has revealed the team’s approach, and how it leaves the Halo show in the dust.

In a recent interview with IGN, Nolan emphasizes a measured optimism. “Our main goal is to deliver one terrific season of television,” he states. This aligns with current television expectations, where a strong debut season is crucial before expanding the story with further seasons.

Alone in the Dark is an extremely important franchise within the sub-genre of survival horror. The first game in the series is considered by many to be the first true survival horror video game ever released. Thus, without this franchise, other iconic survival horror titles like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alan Wake may never have come to pass.
This is one reason that this reimagining of the original Alone in the Dark was my most anticipated 2024 release, the other reason is because survival horror remakes have been knocking it out of the park lately. Last year alone saw Capcom expertly remaster the iconic Resident Evil 4, after the year opened with EA releasing a masterful remake of the original Dead Space.
All of this combined with the star power of David Harbour and Jodie Comer in the lead roles meant that Pieces Interactive’s 2024 reimagining of Alone in the Dark...

The new Alone in the Dark is meant to be an event—a revitalization of the 30-year-old franchise that created the blueprint for survival horror games. There is, after all, no Resident Evil without 1992’s Alone in the Dark, which sent polygonal characters through the gauntlet of fixed-camera angles in a sinister mansion. Now, the enduring success of Resident Evil, and especially its recent remakes, is a visible influence on this reimagining of the game.
Developer Pieces Interactive has reconceived Derceto Manor, the 1920s-era Louisiana estate at the center of the original Alone in the Dark, with modern graphics and an over-the-shoulder camera. They’ve even gone so far as to cast Jodie Comer and David Harbour as the two selectable protagonists: Emily Hartwood, a young woman searching for her troubled uncle, and Edward Carnby, a private investigator whose services she’s enlisted.

Everyone remembers that David Lynch commercial for the PlayStation 2 in all its Lynchian weirdness. And now it’s come full circle (sort of), thanks to a user by the name of DrJones20, who has recreated Lynch’s surreal masterpiece Eraserhead in Media Molecule’s Dreams for the PlayStation 5.
It’s obviously not the full length film, but this compressed version still includes many of the film’s iconic characters and scenes, and uses the audio from the film and a grainy 4:3 filter to complete the tribute. 2009 is not exactly a year that horror fans remember fondly. What came out that year? Off the top of the head, not much comes up. A quick search gives us The Unborn, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and Drag Me to Hell. Depending on who you ask, these range from ok movies to Drag Me to Hell, but not exactly memorable overall. Something happened at the end of the 2000s and horror didn’t give us much to work with for some reason. If we dig, we get better titles like The Collector, Laid to Rest, and Paranormal Activity, but their box office ranged from amazing in the case of Paranormal Activity to almost nonexistent for the others, so it was completely hit or miss, like studios didn’t know what to push and what to keep for the home video market. Here's my pitch to sell you on director Benjamin Brewer's Arcadian: it's A Quiet Place but with Nicolas Cage and better creature elements. The last part came as a huge shocker. Writer Michael Nilon sets the stage for an eerily familiar doomsday scenario that feels like Gareth Edwards' Monsters at first but quickly finds its roots as a sibling to John Krasinski's alien invasion franchise. Arcadian does take a bit to reach its full momentum, not as dynamically engaging as a survivalist drama, but once the monsters reveal themselves? Brewer executes what could be a knockout audition to direct the next A Quiet Place sequel, should there be more on the horizon.
We first meet Cage's protagonist, Paul, fleeing a metropolitan city under state-of-emergency sirens. Military rockets are fired towards an invisible foe as Paul escapes the crumbling architecture, eventually retreating to a homestead in farmland...

Capcom has announced today that Monster Hunter World has surpassed the 25 million global sales milestone.
World was the first title in the longstanding Monster Hunter series to have a simultaneous global launch. While the series garnered a fan following in Japan since its inception in 2004, it was 2018’s Monster Hunter World that brought the series, as its name would check out, massive worldwide appeal.
As shared by Capcom, Monster Hunter World now has the highest number of single-title sales among games from the Japanese company. However, if we had to go by series-wide numbers, it would be Resident Evil, and by a long shot, according to Statista‘s report. The Resident Evil series has a whooping 154 million titles sold across the series, with Monster Hunter sitting at 97 million currently.

The latest video game adaptation incoming is Prime Video’s Fallout TV Show, and after the latest trailer, it’s safe to say it looks incredible, just like The Last of Us, it’s clear the producers, writers, and directors are all determined to be as close to the source material as possible.
