Having gone through its own 'Prohibition' era ('19-'32), alcoholic drink sales were quite strictly regulated by a State alcohol monopoly: because the lead actress (Regina Linnanheimo) played, and wrote for herself, too, the role of drink leading her into the perils of drink depravity so well, the film got tax exempted as was deemed beneficial to the monopoly's purposes for the good (health) of the nation.
Actually Finland ended prohibition 24 years before this film, so it wasn't "quite recently".
This film as good as ended the careers of both the director and the actress Regina Linnanheimo. Tulio did make one more film, the infamous Sensuela, but after what Tulio felt as unfair criticism Tulio decided to forbid showing of all of his movies. Fortunately before his death Tulio changed his mind and gave permission to show and sell copies of his movies.
