Jolly good fun
Petey-1027 March 2008
Recently this movie was shown on TV for the first time since 1969.Matti Kassila's Äl' Yli Päästä Perhanaa (1968) didn't do too well then.I think it's a lot better than has been said.It tells about a bunch of people discussing about ideas for a movie. One of my favorites is the silent movie idea where Pentti Siimes does moves familiar from Charlie Chaplin pictures.I also enjoyed the one taking place at the time of prohibition. And I must also mention that where there are these presidential candidates and they're been elected to the office live on TV by the viewers. That's some great political satire. There are many familiar faces in this movie.Pentti Siimes, who I mentioned earlier plays author Ojala and some other characters.Recently this terrific actor retired from acting because his health isn't what it used to be.Maija Karhi plays his wife and other parts.Helge Herala is Sandels among other roles.Toivo Mäkelä is producer and so on.Matti Kuusla is himself.Hannu Karpo, Reino Paasilinna and Kalle Holmberg are seen fighting in a war. Also Anneli Sauli is seen in the movie. And so are the fine actors Juhani Kumpulainen and Olavi Ahonen.I enjoyed watching the work of these people as I enjoyed watching this movie.
