A Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight
A Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight (1930)
** 1/2 (out of 4)
The Fleischer Studio produced a number of these animated short films where the "bouncing ball" would have audience members singing together. This short starts off with a tree getting tired of the hot sun so he puts it out and replaces it with the moon. Forward over to a singing mouse who I'm sure Walt Disney didn't approve of. If you're familiar with the series then you'll already know that the animated beginnings were just a way to get us to the song in question. The animation here was quite good, the mouse character was in several of these and he was entertaining for the most part. The song too was good for what it was so if you're a fan of the series then you should enjoy this.
