This must be what it felt when those who grew up on Metallica’s initial output first looked upon their bluesy Load-era work. All subdued compositions, guy-liner, haircuts and rockstar pomposity, it appeared the world had gone mad, as back then one of the biggest ‘underdog’-bands on the planet got a taste of stardom and took their punk-rock attitude of rebellion to new heights.
Back to Bullet though, and although the comparisons between the two end there, the feeling of “what has happened to these guys?!” is a strong one, especially when taking new single Raising Hell as indicative of what the band are capable of when they realise they’ve gone too far down the pop-route on last year’s Temper Temper.
Bullet remain a band that I find it impossible to give up on, primarily due to an abundance of perfected live shows and little glimpses of...

True Blood’s five seasons so far have all been very different to each other. From season one’s murder mystery, through season two’s twisted look at religious fundamentalism, season three’s gothic fairytale, season four’s hazy romance to season five’s slightly-different religious allegory, the show has so far reinvented itself every year. Some reinventions have been very successful, others less so.

We weren't kidding, Team Eric members, you really can celebrate.
Confirming what many have suspected/hoped for, True Blood creator Alan Ball says season four of his HBO hit won't follow the fourth book in Charlene Harris' series exactly - but the famous shower scene depicted in "Dead to the World" will take place at some point this summer.
"It is not a direct re-enactment," Ball tells Michael Ausiello. "It goes to a slightly different place... [but] Sookie and Eric are in the shower together. Everybody who’s been waiting for Sookie and Eric to hook up, this will be a very good season for them.”
Ball also detailed the role of Scott Foley, who will debut on the season four finale and then recur throughout season five.
“He was Terry’s platoon leader in Iraq,” the producer says of Foley’s character, Patrick. “So they [share] a military history," which, according to rumors,...

Previously on True Blood …
I’ll assume you did actually watch series 3 but, like me, you’ve probably forgotten a lot of it. As final episodes go, ‘Evil is Going On’ was fairly short on spectacular dénouement but very heavy on loose ends to tie-up this year.
So, in no particular order:
Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) was pretty much in a holding pattern all last season, developing a relationship with Jesús (Kevin Alejandro) who, finally, confesses he is “a witch” which quite delights Lafayette….
Sam (Sam Trammell)’s back story has risen up and bitten him, meaning he has family matters to deal with that culminate with him shooting his brother, Tommy (Marshall Allman).
Jason (Ryan Kwanten)’s infatuation with Crystal the were-panther has resulted in him being left in charge of a clan of inbred hillbilly shape-shifters.

Playing the smoking hot vampire Eric Northman is humbling, to say the least, for Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard. So to say that he’s used to the adoration from female fans of True Blood, the subject of this week’s Entertainment Weekly cover story, would be a bit of an understatement. (For proof, consider this little detail that EW dug up from Charlaine Harris, the author of the extremely popular Sookie Stackhouse novels that serve as the inspiration for True Blood: She says that fans often ask her to autograph the tomes to “Mrs. Alexander Skarsgard.”)

Waiting Sucks, but the first 6 minutes of an all new season of True Blood on HBO…sucks, too, but in a very, very devilishly delightful sort of way. Am I right? Okay, maybe it doesn’t suck! Get it here and now. Just hit play.
Go ahead. You can thanks us.
What other developments can we reveal to you Fangbangers out there? Well, there’s also a yummy season four clip. We have some “True Colors” promos for your eyes. Oh, and don’t miss the super exciting “Breaking Up Sucks” tease! Best for last? Okay, check out the love…uh, quadrangle?
What can you expect this season? Well, when we last visited Bon Temps, Russell Edgington, the king, was rather indisposed. Jason Stackhouse got some new and very heavy responsibility. Biggest of all, Sookie was spirited away to another world.

When I last wrote of True Blood, I described it as "HBO's hit vampire/werewolf/maenad/fairy/whatever-the-hell-they-come-up-with-next series." Well, I come to you now, friends, knowing whatever-the-hell-they've-come-up-with-next. Apparently, season four of True Blood is all about witches. But I'm sure that is no surprise to all you dedicated fangbangers out there.
The new season of True Blood (beginning June 26, despite what the poster says) is based on Dead to the World, book four of Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire Mysteries series. As usual, the show is playing fast and loose with the details of Harris's novels, but maintaining their spirit nicely — and, hey, when it comes to the supernatural, spirit trumps details every time.
Last season saw psychic waitress-cum-fairy Sookie (Anna Paquin) hook up with the hunky werewolf Alcide (Joe Manganiello) to find Bill (Stephen Moyer), her vampire lover, who had been kidnapped by the loony Vampire King of Mississippi (Denis O'Hare), of course.

When last we saw a "True Blood" vampire broadcasting his message from a television screen, things didn't go so well and the human population was left with a less than favorable impression of their be-fanged neighbors. But if there's one vampire who can regain the peoples' favor (especially the ladies), it's Eric Northman. And here he is to remind us that like our fellow man, each vampire is an individual--not a collective like the Borg.
Since Book 4 of the Sookie Stackhouse series, Dead to the World opens with Eric not quite himself, I'm curious as to where in the season that opening shot takes place. What's clear is that American Vampire League spokesperson, Nan Flanagan has her job cut out for her, trying to repair her kind's shaky reputation and making sure her "No Dead Humans" edict is followed. Meanwhile we get a few quick shots of just about all our favorite characters,...

HBO has released a great new promo trailer for their upcoming fourth season of True Blood. The promo is called Witches Vs. Vampires, and I think fans are going to love it. It got me more excited for the new season. The trailer is set to The Queens Of The Stoneage song, Burn The Witch.
The fourth season of True Blood will include 12 episodes, and is set to premiere on June 26, 2011. It will be loosely based on the fourth novel in The Southern Vampire Mysteries series, Dead to the World.

As Seth mentioned, these days, fall television isn't much to get excited over--especially when it comes to new shows. From what rumblings are out there, pilot season is going to be yet another disaster. But between now and then, we still have summer and while most people think of it as a television wasteland, there are a few gems that should at least land on your DVR:
"So You Think You Can Dance," May 26th, Fox
Of all the dancing and singing competitions, "Sytycd" is the best there is. Hosted by the stylish and sweet Cat Deeley, follow along with the best of the b-boys as they blow away expectations and check out the phenomenal ballroom dancers working through a Nappytabs routine. Then try to make sense of Lil "C's judging comments or Mary Murphy's screeching and make fun of Adam Shankman when he cries at every other routine.

HBO has released three new promo teaser trailers for the fourth season of of True Blood. The cable network always does a great job marketing this show, and getting the fans hyped up. I really like what they did with these promo trailers.

It's already been confirmed that the storyline from Charlaine Harris' fourth book Dead To the World featuring Eric getting his memory wiped will be one of the focuses of this upcoming season. You'd best be sure to keep all your True Blood continuity straight when season four rolls around, because Eric Northman won't remember any of it.
During the panel at Saturday's Paleyfest, actor Alexander Skarsgard had a few choice words regarding his character's arc for the coming season, which looks to draw inspiration from the fourth of Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries novels, "Dead to the World." Says Skarsgard:
"He messed with the wrong people. When we next meet Eric, he's definitely not stable, he doesn't know who he is anymore...Eric needs help. There are alot of friendly people in Bon Temps kind enough to help, but the powerful character he was is just gone. He's the polar opposite of who he used to be. He's just completely lost, and very vulnerable."

Plus, tons more season four spoilers — straight from the stars’ mouths!
HBO has finally released the first official footage of True Blood’s fourth season, and it gives fans exactly what they want: Lots of Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) in very little clothing. Based on Charlaine Harris‘ novel Dead to the World, season four begins with an amnesia-stricken Eric running through the woods — in the books he’s naked, but we’ll let it slide — until Sookie (Anna Paquin) finds him and nurses him back to health.
And by “nurses him back to health,” I of course mean that Sookie and Eric spend all their time doing the dirty like rabbits in heat. Now that Sookie knows her boyfriend Bill (Stephen Moyer) betrayed her, what else is a girl to do?

We're still a little over half a year away from the season four premiere of True Blood. While I was a little underwhelmed by season three of the show, here's hoping that season four returns us to the bloody fun that pervaded throughout the first season. Now, we don't know a lot about season four, but we do know that it will be based upon the fourth novel in the Southern Vampire Mysteries series, Dead to the World, and it will heavily involve witches, who we were introduced to a little last year. Now, we have just a tidbit more of information about the upcoming season: the second episode will be set in Eric's vampire bar Fangtasia, and will be titled "You Smell Like Dinner," according to E! News.

Fiona Shaw is coming to Bon Temps, Louisiana. In what can be counted as the first casting news for "True Blood" season 4, it is announced that Shaw would be one of the new recurring characters in the HBO series.
Shaw is perhaps best known as Aunt Petunia in "Harry Potter" movies, and her last TV project where she was a regular was British miniseries "Gormenghast". Producers of "True Blood" wants the Irish actress to be Marnie who according to Deadline is "a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch."
Back in October, EW reported that Marnie is painfully aware of what a joke she is as a z-lister palm reader. The role originally was set for younger actress but has since been adjusted to Shaw. Creator of the series Alan Ball has said that the...

Over the past week or so, details on Season 4 of True Blood are seeping out like dead vampire guts, so we may as well get involved. I can't stand feeling left out.

Just when you thought the gayest show on TV couldn’t get any more gay, it seems that it can. No, I’m not talking about Glee or anything remotely to do with Kurt’s upcoming boyfriend story line; it’s GLAAD’s No. 1 Super Gaymo show, True Blood, with the drama’s latest round of casting notices.

True Blood’s fourth season is a long ways away, but the spoilers are already starting to pour in compliments of EW/Soon to be indie Michael Ausiello. Fans of Charlaine Harris’s books probably already have a sense of what territory True Blood might venture into, since it will loosely interpret the material of Dead to the World, but they would also be the first to tell you that Alan Ball likes to stray – often wildly – from the literary basis for HBO’s hit series.
So if you are a fan of Charlaine’s True Blood series, it is your duty to tell us how far off these character descriptions are from what you’ve seen in Mrs. Harris’s pages:
Marnie – A palm reader/huckster who apparently sucks are her job of convincing people she has a sixth sense, until she becomes possessed with the spirit of a powerful sorceress.

Kristin Bauer has revealed that she would love the fourth season of True Blood to feature scenes from the original books by Charlaine Harris. In Harris's fourth novel Dead To The World, Eric loses his memory because of witches and stays with Sookie for safety. According to Entertainment Weekly, Bauer has now revealed that she would love the scenes to appear in the television show. Spoiler alert! If you haven’t read Charlaine Harris’ Dead to the World, the fourth book in the series upon which HBO’s True Blood is based, and don’t want to know what may await you in season 4, do not read this item. Those of you who have read the book or can’t help yourself, continue…
Fans have long wondered whether Alan Ball, who’s strayed far from the novels, would keep to the script when it comes to Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric losing his memory at the hands of witches and staying with Sookie in her home where he’s deemed safest.

During the "True Blood" panel at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Com, series creator Alan Ball promised the crowd that "Hallow will be a 'big' character in Season Four". Those who have read Charlaine Harris' books on which the show is based seemed happy, but the rest of us were left pretty much in the dark as to who or what "Hallow" is ... until now.
Here's the skinny from The Ausiello Files on EW.com: Ball reveals that he’ll be introducing Hallow Stonebrook, the were-sorceress from Harris’ fourth Sookie novel, Dead to the World. Preferring to refer to the character as a necromancer, the boss man says she’s “actually a medium. She communicates with the dead, and she’s interested in developing further powers.”
In the book Hallow casts a spell on Eric [and is] described as a tall, trim brunette.
Well, we've had vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, maenads, and more so...

Though this season of True Blood still has three episodes to go, I’ve already got scoopage on the next one: Long story short, it might as well be titled “Season of the Witch”!

The most revealing tidbit provided by Alan Ball and crew at the San Diego Comic-Con 2010 True Blood panel was that Ball and his writing crew are currently breaking stories for season 4. Ball dropped a huge hint as to what may be in store for True Blood fans with one word: Hallow. Fans of the books know exactly where this is going, thankfully for the less literate fans of the series their book-loving brethren can't spoiler toooo much since Ball likes to play fast and loose with Charlaine Harris's True Blood mythos. The breakdown goes like this:
Hallow Stonebrook is the lead witch of a coven that causes a lot of problems for Sookie and crew. The wiki page for "Dead To the World," The True Blood book that most prominently features Hallow and her crew, describes a fairly epic confrontation between the denizens of Bon Temps and the wicked witches of the bayou.

Guess who’s coming back to Bon Temps for at least one more season of debaucherous vampire sex? You are, probably – or at least HBO is banking on that, as they’ve just announced they’ve picked up True Blood for a fourth season.
Here’s some quotes from a press release!
“The new season of True Blood is off to a terrific start, as enthusiasm for this unique show continues to build among both subscribers and critics,” noted Michael Lombardo, head of HBO programming. “We’re looking forward to more chills from Alan Ball and his gifted team next year.”
“I am beyond thrilled to be able to continue working with this amazing cast and crew,” says Alan Ball. “This is the most fun I have ever had.”
Great quotes, guys! You’re all champs. Though Alan, I'd watch what you say... Somewhere on the set of Parenthood, Peter Krause...

I began reading Charlaine Harris’ “Sookie Stackhouse” novels shortly after finishing season one of True Blood. The check-out girl at Borders warned me that the series and the books only had a few things in common. “The books aren’t as sexy,” she said.
As if that’s why I wanted to read them…
Uh huh…
Dead Until Dark, the first book of the “Sookie” series, was almost exactly like season 1 with a few exceptions. Tara wasn’t there, Lafayette had a brief appearance, and because the story was told exclusively from Sookie’s point-of-view, there was no way to spend time with Eric, Bill, or Jason unless Sookie was hanging out with them.
Personally, I found the books refreshing because of Harris’ style, which is whimsical and reads more like a detective novel than a horror story. Sookie is engaging, fun, positive, and conflicted by her choices. Anna Paquin...
