Michael Shannon, two-time Academy Award nominee and occasional internet meme, has given us yet another reminder of the singular quality that makes him Michael Shannon. The “Nocturnal Animals” actor (who received an Oscar nomination for his role) was on “The Tonight Show” last night, treating host Jimmy Fallon and everyone in attendance with a rendition of Sting’s “Russians.” Watch below.

Perhaps coincidentally, Sting was also in attendance at the Oscars a few nights ago, where he was nominated for his song “The Empty Chair.” Shannon’s impromptu performance was preceded by some of Shannon’s trademark humor — asked about his hobbies, the two-time Oscar nominee professes an affinity for taxidermy and skeeball. “I like a challenge,” Shannon said before belting the tune. There’s a moment early on in “Captain Fantastic” where Viggo Mortensen’s Ben Cash, still reeling from the news of his wife’s suicide, addresses his children on the matter. “Last night mommy killed herself,” he says, “she finally did it.” The bluntness hits like a shock to the system.
It won’t be the last we encounter Ben’s child-rearing directness. Over the course of the film, he sticks firmly to his “no lying” mantra, going as far as to tell his young daughter about sexual intercourse after she asks. But that initial encounter is critical. As played by the extraordinary Mortensen, it’s a moment of deep tragedy. He gives the line a no-nonsense edge that proves euphemisms don’t run in this family, but his swelling eyes hint at how crippling that can be. It’s at this moment that “Captain Fantastic” asks its big question:...

Adrienne Bailon is, once again, keeping it 100. The singer opened up on The Real about why she'll never date someone for their looks because she's just "not that shallow." "Growing up in the music industry, you know, when you're in a teenage girl group, they don't want you to say you have a boyfriend. Like it is definitely something that is known that like, there's two things I was told back in the day. It was, if you really want to be a big superstar, girls should want to be you and men should want to be with you. So like, that's literally what they would say, which is terrible," she explained to the audience. "I feel really passionate about...

The merc with the mouth has finally gotten his movie. After years of false starts, internet rumors, and ‘leaked’ video clips the movie many thought would never actually get made has finally hit theaters. Fans will find Deadpool is well worth the wait as the character they love is fully represented in all his fourth wall breaking glory.
Even in a cinematic world flooded with superheroes Deadpool has found a new niche not yet tapped. Full of raw language, brutal violence, and sheer insanity it is not at all interested in appealing to the broad Avengers or Batman audience. In fact it as if it was purposely manufactured by diehard fans to create the purest comic book page to screen representation possible. A goal that was undoubtedly achieved.

The long-in-the-works "Friday the 13th" reboot has been stuck in development hell for what feels like forever, but the latest news of the franchise's next installment (the 13th overall) indicates that things may be moving in the right direction for the hotly-anticipated project. In light of the latest developments, here are seven things you need to know. 1. Director David Bruckner has dropped out of the project. Bruckner, who co-wrote and co-directed the cult 2007 horror film "The Signal" as well as a segment of the macabre found-footage anthology movie "V/H/S," was first reported to have taken the helm in April of last year, but according to The Wrap he has since departed the project to pursue other opportunities. 2. Acclaimed screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski ("Prisoners") is attached to write a new version of the script. Variety reported on Thursday that Guzikowski, who also created the SundanceTV drama series "Red Road," is...

Jon Hamm was on "The Daily Show" last night to promote "Minions"-- you can see a clip from the movie in his interview video below -- and the "Mad Men" alum joked that he was going to get in so much trouble with Universal after his conversation with Jon Stewart.
The "Despicable Me" spinoff opens July 10, and Jon Stewart started by saying he hoped the movie was about a quorum of Jewish men and maybe they just misspelled "Minyan." But he said kids really love Minions, including his own kids, joking that they are 18 and 19 and smoke a lot of dope. More seriously, Stewart said not everything can capture his kids' attention like this, and the Jons discussed the universal appeal of the characters for both children and adults.

It's been in the works for six years and retreats to new release dates seemingly every time the calendar draws near, however, the new Friday the 13th movie is very much alive and on its way back to the big screen, as the project has now added a new writer to its ranks, one who helped scribe the upcoming third season of NBC's Hannibal.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Nick Antosca (Hannibal Season 3, Believe) has been set to scribe a fresh draft of the new Friday the 13th movie for Paramount and Platinum Dunes. A prior draft was penned by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg (upcoming The Autopsy of Jane Doe).
Slated for a May 13th, 2016 release, the next Friday the 13th film will be directed by David Bruckner (The Signal, "Amateur Night" segment of V/H/S). Though THR states the film is "expected to employ the found-footage technique...

In a recent interview with Esquire magazine, Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller spoke about the company's upcoming second attempt at a reboot of the "Friday the 13th" franchise. Though the script is still being worked on, the most interesting quote revolved around the next film dealing with the continuity of the series.
Specifically it seems the film may deal with how iconic killer Jason Voorhes is seemingly killed at the end of every movie before coming back to life:
"There's always been this supernatural aspect to these movies. It defies logic that, you see Jason get killed in every movie, including ours, the 2009 one. And then he comes back and no one's ever really investigated what that is. So that's something that I think about a little bit. Like it is supernatural, but what is he? Those are the things that we're toying with. Nothing has been decided. But those...

We know that Platinum Dunes is currently working on a new "Friday the 13th" movie, which is set to hit theaters on May 13th, 2016. Up to this point, all the details have just been rumors. But now, producer Brad Fuller has revealed what's true and what's not. The plan is to shoot at the end of summer and the film will not be found-footage style. While he refused to say what kind of budget "Friday the 13th" has, Fuller hinted that it's between $4 million and $20 million. Regarding story, apparently director David Bruckner (The Signal) wants to explore Jason's immortality. "There's always been this supernatural aspect to these movies. It defies logic that, you see Jason get killed in every movie, including ours, the 2009 one. And then he comes back and no one's ever really investigated what that is," said Fuller. Seeing as how today is Friday the 13th we should really have some Friday the 13th movie news to share…and we do!
It’s been a long road to get another Friday film out there. 2009’s reboot was a success but it was followed by the era of micro-budget horror. Films like Paranormal Activity and Insidious were made for peanuts yet made buckets of money at the box office. Suddenly the thought of throwing $20 million together for one Friday film when you could make fifteen Paranormal Activity’s didn’t seem like something the studio wanted to do.
Producer Bryan Fuller is determined to get Jason back out there however, and is apparently looking to find a good middle ground between the remake’s $20 million budget and the smaller budgets of recent horror films.
“You can’t do a great kill quickly. It takes time and the blood levels.

What better way to mark today’s sense of occasion than an update on the long-gestating Friday The 13th reboot? Set up by horror remake maestros Platinum Dunes, the pic has seen more than its fair share of rumors, chatter and potential release dates. In a recent interview with Esquire, one of Platinum’s head honchos, Brad Fuller, sat down to set the record straight on the rampant speculation, revealing a few new twists in the process.
Thus far, we know that Fuller and Andrew Form will both produce this update on the Jason Voorhees saga with David Bruckner on board to direct. In terms of its writers, the most recent draft of the script was penned by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. However, their involvement may have already come to an end. "Dancing with the Stars" may be over for Season 17, but Tori Spelling is ready to throw on her dancing shoes for "DWTS" Season 18. Could this be the first celebrity name for spring 2014?
The "Tori & Dean" and "Beverly Hills 90210" star has already reached out to producers to express her interest, a source reported to Radar Online. Tori has now decided to make herself available and wants to appear on the upcoming season which is scheduled to begin in March 2014," that source explained.
Why is Spelling so desperate to get covered in sequins and spray tan? There seem to be two reasons. One is to change the public's perception of her. "The main reason Tori wants to go on is to rehab her image in the aftermath of the fallout from her book," the informative insider shared. "She doesn't want the public to think she goes around picking on Katie Holmes and Martha Stewart.

In her new book, Spelling It Like It Is, Tori Spelling says she lied to Us Weekly about how she lost 45 pounds after the birth of her son Finn. Spelling, 40, lied to Us Weekly when asked hwo she bounced back from pregnancy. The mom of four told Us in April 2013 that she had dropped the weight through a combination of low-impact cardio and a "healthy" diet of fish, veggies, soups, and "sensible" snacks like rice cakes, edamame, hummus, and avocado. Not so, it seems. The book 'Spelling It Like It Is' reveals the actress basically starved herself. "I really don't exercise much, period," she writes. "So I took off my weight the old-fashioned way. Four years ago, Star magazine ran a cover story claiming that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott were trapped in a "loveless marriage." As it turns out, that couldn't be further from the truth. In her recently released sixth memoir, Spelling It Like It Is, the 40-year-old actress revealed that she made an explicit home movie with her hubby just seven months earlier. "Dean said, 'We should tape ourselves having sex.' He had a little portable tripod, and he set up his video camera on it," Spelling wrote of their 2009 Valentine's Day plans. "Afterward, I checked my angles and they were good, so I allowed him to keep it." The video was uploaded to the couple's home...

Continuing to share more private stories about her life in her new book "Spelling It Like It Is," Tori Spelling reveals the intimacy of her marriage with husband Dean McDermott and how it put her in bad spotlight.
In her memoir, the former "Beverly Hills 90210" discussed her sex tape created with Dean on Valentine's Day 2009. Although it was made for their eyes only, it got leaked and copied.
"Dean said, 'We should tape ourselves having sex.' He had a little portable tripod, and he set up his video camera on it," Miss Spelling writes. "Afterwards, I checked my angles and they were good, so I allowed to keep it."
Unfortunately, the video was uploaded to the couple's computer that was without password protection and was accessed by a biker friend of Dean's. The act went unnoticed for two years before the couple was informed that the thief was trying to sell the video.

While she’s always tried to keep up with her Hollywood peers, Tori Spelling seems to be coming up short when it comes to finances.
The 40-year-old actress/author told People that she and husband Dean McDermott didn’t have enough money for him to get a $1000 vasectomy procedure.
Spelling explained, "We're in the entertainment business, and things change year to year. We don't have a series on the air right now, so we have to be more restrictive of what we can spend, just like anyone who doesn't currently have a steady job."
Tori also notes in her new book “Spelling It Like It Is,” "It's no mystery why I have money problems. I grew up rich beyond anyone's dreams. Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle, I can't seem to let go of my expensive tastes. And then there's my little shopping problem ... I can't afford to live like this anymore.

The other day I spent the best part of an hour mindlessly browsing through the TV box sets at HMV before I remembered why I had gone there in the first place; to ascertain the release date of HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 1 on Blu-ray.
