Gandy Goose and Sour Puss area couple of prospectors looking for a place to stay overnight. When a ghostly vulture eats their horse, they hole up in Ghost Town, named for its occupants, in this funny and scary Halloween cartoon.
This cartoon was released on September 22, just in time to kick off the Halloween season for 1944. Scary cartoons were a regular thing for most cartoon studios, like cartoons about Pilgrims for Thanksgiving, about Santa Claus for Christmas and even the occasional patriotic cartoon for the Fourth of July. By this time, however, the tradition was in decline. Now they had to be funny as well as spooky, and this one qualifies, with its jovial spectral cast singing and guzzling ghostly beer. This is a fine little cartoon from the tail end of Terrytoon's peak period -- Mighty Mouse was already on the scene, alas.
