. . . carrot addiction. I've heard a second-hand report from someone very close to me about how dire, if not life-threatening, this malady can be for those susceptible to it, such as the hare papa Raymond in HABIT RABBIT. My contact grew up in a family which made annual pilgrimages to Michigan's Mackinac Island when he was young. For some strange reason, he was the family member most upset by hamburgers being priced five or ten times the White Castle rate, and cheap tacos being an impossible dream. It wasn't as if he had to pay for this stuff with cash for which he himself had worked. Be that as it may, one trip he got the bright idea of buying dinner at the island's tiny grocery. However, the only thing he felt was reasonably priced was a two-pound sack of carrots. So he bought the bag, along with a half gallon bottle of orange Fay-Go to remain color-coordinated, and downed it all on the rocky beach. That night he says he nearly died of an upset stomach in the family motel room. Raymond has nothing on this Real Life guy.
