. . . Raggedy Ann. The choice of this highly controversial adjective cannot be dismissed as random chance, political neutrality or dumb ignorance. Raggedy Ann was created by some know-nothing dude from the 1800's named Gruel in 1915 to spearhead the Right's war against Modern Medicine, Progress and Free Thinking. Supposedly Gruel had a daughter--Little Marcella--who developed a fatal case of bursitis while being protected against small pox. This reputedly prompted the grieving Papa to create the most ill-formed plaything ever conceived, with the idea that the anti-Freedom coalition would sell these gross monstrosities to raise funds in hopes of persuading a weak-minded American Public to reject Science. Given this RAGGEDY RUG picture, Gruel's plot against Humanity apparently worked.
