Mind the paint!

A delightful comedy ,based on play, and it shows, for it's very talky but the lines are often witty , and there's never a dull moment .

A late painter 's works were rediscovered and praised to the skies out of the blue, and now they're worth a fortune ! A patient of a bourgeois doctor,he gave him many of his pictures : but the physician did not think much of those lousy paintings and asked his maid to use them as wood for the fireplace ,or to cover the roof of the henhouse or of the attic .Fortunately, devoted servant Ursule has saved them from destruction.

Now the doctor is visited by cons, eager for thse masterpieces ; although the doctor is a man of principles (a kiss is a slur on his younger daughter's honor),he's in fact as greedy a vulture as the crooks who call on him; the elder daughter,a vixen afraid to become a spinster, and her mother ,support his dirty deeds.

In direct contrast to that, there's the kind-hearted Ursule ,who wants to keep her portrait ,not for the dough it's worth ,but because she wants to keep a souvenir of a man she considered a saint;her naivete is touching : an uneducated person , she shows more wisdom and more humanity than those vultures.
