In 1996, Seagrams commissioned Matt Stone and Trey Parker(not yet of South Park fame) to do a short film for a corporate party celebrating Seagrams' recent takeover of Universal. David Zucker hired the boys and the result, shot in 6 1/2 days, is notable for being Matt and Trey's first 'Hollywood' gig. Featuring the likes of Steven Spielberg, Brian Grazer, James Cameron, Michael J. Fox, Demi Moore, and Sylvester Stallone, the film parodies stock, black and white, 'educational' films from the 1950's. While doing away with the 'old and stupid', and ushering in the age of the porcelain deer, the filmmakers show the stars of Universal interacting with the 'new' regime, and loving it(often with the help of Seagrams' Wine Coolers). Shot entirely on the Universal backlot, the 14 minute film gently(and not so gently) prods some legends of the studio, from the animatronic Jaws shark to the Psycho house being gaily repainted by Angela Lansbury. The film has surfaced on the internet recently, notable because the creators themselves did not even get a copy upon its completion. It is imagined, however, that they at least got to keep a porcelain deer.
