Mind-bogglingly unfunny

Meet the Swels - The family that put the "Fun" in Dysfunction. OK with a tag line like that it was either going to be awful or an undiscovered independent gem.

It's awful.

Story: The whole action of the film takes place in one day and in one house. Wendy Shuman comes back to her LA family home for the summer break from her creative writing course in New York. After some not very comic or interesting misadventures (someone falls in the swimming pool, a cake is left on the bidet, a boyfriend steals the family car) she leaves, sits by the side of the road for a few moments and philosophises. The end.

This is a mind-bogglingly unfunny movie that constantly changes pace and direction for no reason, There is some business about them all having to leave to go to a party at the start of the film which is just forgotten. People wander off, get changed, eat, and generally forget the only plot point in the whole movie. The characters are so badly drawn and universally horrible that by the time you realise nothing is going to happen, you don't care that none of them are going to learn anything or die a horrible death (how I wished).

Kelly Maguire was bearable as Wendy.
