The WWE brand of professional wrestling is a strange beast. The promotion tells stories week after week, 52 weeks a year, and not everything pans out as expected. The franchise’s flagship TV show, Monday Night Raw, is a good example of this; some things work, some things don’t, and often, what doesn’t work outweighs what does. WWE 2K20 follows that same mold. It’s chock-full full of superstars and features with the promise of more to come as the year goes on, but right now, just like a recent episode of Raw, it’s a complete mess.
WWE 2K20 is the first game in almost 20 years not to have Japanese developer Yuke’s at the helm. Yuke’s singlehandedly set the bar for wrestling games with SmackDown in 2000 on the original PlayStation, and every game since has been built off that engine. Visual Concepts, the developers of NBA 2K,...

Read More: Watch: Things Go Bump in the Night in Gruesome 'The Hallow' Trailer Corin Hardy's creature feature "The Hallow" isn't set to hit theaters until November 6. But DirecTV has just announced that the film will be offered exclusively on DirecTV Cinema from now until November 4 -- one month before the Sundance chiller hits theaters. The film, written by Hardy and Felipe Marino, and starring Joseph Mawle and Bojana Novakovic, spins a familiar web of familial terror with a few clever twists. What begins as a quiet move to a new home for a conservationist and his family quickly turns dark when it becomes clear that the neighboring woods are brimming with dark forces locals describe as "banshees" and "baby killers." A loving tribute to the monster movie tradition with a decidedly sadistic bent, "The Hallow" looks to be a satisfying labyrinth of horrors just in time for Halloween.

The Hallow is an absolutely killer Irish creature feature, a fantastical eerie fable about what lurks within nature. The film, directed by Corin Hardy, screens at the Edinburgh Film Festival this weekend before a UK and Us release this fall. Empire debuted the first trailer, an international clip that lays out its atmosphere, but very…

Is there aaaaanyone here who hasn’t seen at least a video clip of Winnie-the-Pooh and Tigger Too at some point? I know I’ve seen plenty – Winnie-the-Pooh was a part of my childhood, and is now a part of the childhood of this Auntie Em’s little nephew and nieces. And would it blow your mind to learn that since the 1990s, Winnie-the-Pooh and Tigger too have been…dun dun duuuuun…the same person? Because they have! Well, at least when it comes to the guy who does their voices.
This is one of the things I adore about voice actors – how versatile they are, and how they can do so many voices that just sound nothing like each other; even when the characters are in conversation together. It’s really amazing.
If you know anything about voice actors, you’ll know that when I talk about the voice of Pooh and Tigger,...

Imagine being trapped inside of an abandoned hospital, wherein something just doesn’t feel right. All of the lights are out, debris is strewn about, and weird occurrences keep happening, but all you have on you for constant light is your cellphone.
The aforementioned plot summary describes the premise of Zombie Studios’ Daylight, a disturbing-looking first-person survival horror title. Expected to hit PC and PlayStation 4 in “Early 2014,” it looks to be shaping up pretty well, and will hopefully bring a new meaning to the term, “Bump in the night.”
Below, we have Atlus’ first gameplay trailer for Daylight, which comes bearing “Don’t Look Back” as its ominous subtitle. We won’t spoil the video for you, though, so make sure to take a look at it before letting us know your thoughts, via our comments section.

I don't really do horror games, to be honest. The good ones freak me out -- and I don't like to be scared, as a general rule -- and the campy, gory slashers are fun, but ultimately kind of unfulfilling. Yet here I am, posting a trailer for Lunar Software's "Routine," the latest entry in a genre experiencing a sort of Renaissance.
There's something about the range of horror games that appeals to me, even if I don't end up playing many of them. The genre encompasses a wide breadth of setting, mood, and tone, and the most interesting things are coming from small developers pushing the envelope on how to scare, creep out, mortify, disturb, unnerve, and bother people.
Zombie Studios' "Daylight" and Red Barrels "Outlast" both take place in asylums, but one is a procedural exploration game about psychological trauma and the other is a...

The Songbird really, really wants to kill Booker in this trailer for "Bioshock Infinite," which is out today for the 360, PS3, and PC.
The critical reception to "Infinite" has been great so far--the question now is if audiences will get behind this very, very expensive blockbuster game out of Irrational. Normally, the dollars and cents of video games wouldn't be at the front of my thoughts when a new title has just been released (well, not exclusively, anyway) but part of the "Bioshock Infinite" narrative is how much the thing cost to make and publisher 2K pinning their hopes on it being a smash hit.
I loved the first game and even found Digital Extreme's conceptually superfluous sequel had a lot to appreciate (it just plays better), so I'm with the rest of you in wanting "Infinite" to be another sprawling, literate vision of dystopic excess.

Major Nelson quietly reveals the April 5 release date for the remake of "Double Dragon 2" (subtitled "Wander of Dragons") from developer Gravity after an 18 month delay.
The beat-em-up remake was announced back in 2011 but has been pretty quiet in the intervening year and change. The 3D remake was originally being developed by Barunson Interactive and based on the original arcade version of "Double Dragon 2" before they were bought out by Gravity.
"Double Dragon 2: Wander of Dragons" is priced at 1200 Msp and will feature both local and online two-player co-op.

I want to make you aware of something that isn’t going to be for all of our readers though I think more of you out there will find this an interesting grab despite its contents. Mill Creek has been sending us some excellent Halloween treats available at some very reasonable prices perfect for a variety of tastes and age groups. As you may know I have a gruesome twosome of little ones at home. Let’s just say that I don’t shy away from showing them some spooky offerings especially around Halloween. My little girls, aged eleven months and eight years old, love TV, and I am making it my duty to get them into the Halloween spirit and darker cartoons and age appropriate horror. For those of you who want to get on my ass about “too much TV” for kids, I am the product of my TV; shove it.

Summer is almost here. Are you still looking for something to keep your movie-loving kids (ages 9-18) busy this summer? Sure, you could drop them off at the multiplex every morning on your way to work, but allow me to recommend something much better — Austin Film Festival’s Summer Film Camp. Don’t worry, I am thinking exactly what you are thinking. “Why didn’t something like this exist when I was a kid?” Yeah, I know, kids have it so much easier nowadays! For example, I remember when I had to walk barefoot in the snow, uphill for ten miles to get to some lame-ass summer camp when I was a kid. Twenty years from now, do you really want your kids to be stuck in mindless office jobs reminiscing about their oh-so-boring childhoods while stressing out about what to do with their kids over the upcoming summer? Yes, that...

One of the most frequent questions in panels at Austin film festivals I've attended is, "What is available here for writers?" My advice on where to find the best content at a local film festival is the Austin Film Festival (Aff). Durng the mentoring sessions, roundtables and panels, emerging writers and filmmakers interact with veterans of the television and film industry.
You don't have to wait until Aff in October to catch great writers and filmmakers talking about their craft. Aff hosts Conversations in Film throughout the year. Their most recent event, "Words That Go Bump in the Night: Writing Horror Films," brought together screenwriters Tom Holland (Fright Night, Cloak and Dagger) and Alvaro Rodriguez (From Dusk Til Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter, Machete) to talk about how they started in the film industry and the state of genre filmmaking.
