Sex & Nudity

  • A girl is shown being supervised by a nurse in the bathtub as she shaves the lower part of her body is not shown but the top part of you see her shoulders but no graphic nudity due to her leg being pulled up to cover her breasts
  • Sexual references are mildly disturbing.
  • A man and woman lying in bed, naked under the covers, are shown implying that they had sex. No visible nudity is shown.
  • A woman gets out of bed after sex and the side of her breast is shown as she is getting dressed.
  • Two women are shown sitting in separate bathtubs naked but no nudity is shown.
  • There is a split scene of a man and woman seen in bed getting undressed. However, they are interrupted twice. The first time, they are just passionately kissing. The second time, it is implied she is performing oral sex on the man. Nothing is shown as it is quick and doesn't seem like the act occurred, but it is implied later. The girls in the background who saw it laugh and make sexual noises. No nudity is shown.
  • A woman looks out a hospital window and briefly sees a man running around naked outside. The blinds are partially open, and only the man's rear end is partially shown, but this is shown quickly and from a distance. The shot of the man is also somewhat of a blur.

  • When the girls are on an outing with the nurses, they visit an ice cream parlor and one of the girls starts talking about toppings in a suggestive manner and another girl blurts out explicit genitalia terms.
  • A girl suggests that another girl is sleeping with her father.

Violence & Gore

  • A character briefly gives a graphic description of self harm to mock another. This may be triggering to those who have self harmed.
  • Not a lot of violence, but mostly verbal abuse towards mental characters.
  • There are many references to suicide and violence, and scenes involving girls shouting profanities while being restraint from the orderly in the institution and struggling to be released.
  • A woman's stomach is pumped as a result of a drug overdose due to "chasing a bottle of aspirin with vodka". We see that her wrist is bruised.
  • A burn victim in the institution is shown with burn scars on the left side of her body including her face.
  • A woman slaps another woman in two different scenes.
  • An argument in a brief scene leads to a woman taking a tight hold on a woman's hand purposely to scare her. She remains her grip for a few moments, forcing to release her hand. Another woman in this scene slaps the hand of another woman since bothered the hand was too close to her face.
  • A woman takes a pen and threatens to stab herself in her "aorta", but this scene is played for comical reasons.
  • A woman working in the institution forcefully grabs a woman out of bed, carrying her then throwing her into a bathtub. It is done purposely to awaken the woman half-asleep.
  • Daisy's wrists are shown with cuts on them, implying self-mutilation. Later, she commits suicide by hanging herself and slitting her wrists. Her bloody hands are shown at an angle in one point. Then, we see her lifeless body hanging for a moment.
  • A woman's fingers get slammed in a door. We see bloody results, and her fingers are shown in bandages the next day implying her fingers were severely injured.
  • A woman is seen about to commit suicide by injecting herself with a lethal substance, but she decides not to and drops the shot.

Profanity

  • Strong language throughout the movie.
  • Lisa Rowe talks about a "rim job".
  • When the girls are on an outing with the nurses, they visit an ice cream parlor and one of the girls starts talking about toppings in a suggestive manner and another girl blurts out explicit genitalia terms.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • A depiction of prescription drug abuse is shown among the girls in the institution.
  • Characters are seen smoking throughout the movie, including two brief scenes of marijuana use.
  • There are a few drug references and party scenes showing drinking and smoking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Mental patients go mad frequently.
  • Lisa is a sociopath and is very manipulative.
  • There are a couple scenes where a character is racist towards a black character in order to provoke her.
  • Mental illness is a relatable, but sometimes, heavy subject and issues are moderate level, so it can be a film mostly suitable for adult and teen viewing. Parental supervision would be recommended for pre-teens if they have similar mental health problems as the characters.

  • When daisy kills herself you see her body hanging which can be triggering to see.
  • The whole film is intense and gives a disturbing, powerful look at mental illness.
  • Intense verbal attack/bullying at the girl involved in incest.
