The film is based on a novel by the Noble laureate Naguib Mahfouz. The director also turned Mahfouz's Trilogy into three films, all better than this one. The acting here is exaggerated. The ending is different than the novel and is more commercial. The films lacks important parts of the novel, avoided probably because of censorship. It is certainly still worth watching. As usual yousif shaban and samia gamal showed lots of talent. Shadia's and hasan yousif's acting was exagerated.
