Weekly satire of contemporary events

If you have ever watched Finnish television programs, you hardly have avoided 'Uutisvuoto'. With Peter Nyman as the host, Captains Tervo and Tabermann re-interpret all the news from the last week and make it in their own particular way. Each week new there will be new celebrities on both Captains teams attempting to outwit all the others. There is also supposed to be some kind of contest between the teams, but scoring is not always according to any standards. The other team just wins and the other loses - very simple.

'Uutisvuoto' will bless Finns with its existence as long as the cast remains the same. Nyman as the host is excellent with this type of satire. He's very formal but has twisted sense of humour. Captain Tervo is a famous novelist from Northern Finland, who makes his excuses with clever wit and perverted humour. Captain Tabermann is a Poet from Southern Finland who at least knows how to talk to a lady.

This all is what Finns expect to see from television every Saturday, and because Finns probably can't even dream of anything better, they will also get what they were looking for. Each week the program also gives a prize for the winners and the losers. And those notorious prizes usually are something as twisted as the whole program, like toilet paper or bottles of booze.
