"The Good Son" is an 11-minute live action short film from the UK. It was made back in 1998, so soon has its 20th anniversary. I cannot say I am familiar with director Sean McGuire or writer Stephen McAnena. The stars here are certainly lead actors Peter Vaughan (over 90 today, very long and successful career, recently in "Game of Thrones") and Gary Lewis ("Billy Elliot", "Gangs of New York), who is one of these actors you definitely have seen, but may not remember his name. The two play father and son in here and do a decent job as such. Sadly, the story here offers quite a few weaknesses and unrealistic developments, which made it difficult for me to appreciate this little movie. This is especially disappointing as the two actors did a good job and the film easily could have delivered much more on an emotional scale than it actually did. Overall, I still recommend the watch, but I also believe this was a missed opportunity and could have been a lot better.
