After a lengthy hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be hoping to get back in front of cameras sooner rather than later in order to get the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Disney Plus exclusive across the finishing line. As of yet, the studio haven’t announced a delay, so the show is still scheduled to arrive in August, although there have been rumors that the production delay could see it split into two parts.

Avengers: Endgame truly marked a turning point for the McU. For the first ten years, stories usually focused on the core Avengers team, but now everything is changing at Marvel Studios. Part of this is down to many of the cast coming to the end of their contracts, with Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. fulfilling their obligations with Endgame and Scarlet Johansson doing the same with Black Widow.
So, where are we going from here? Well, it seems that over Phase 4 we’ll see the mantles of these characters being passed down. We already know that Sam Wilson will become the new Captain America (though what we’ve heard about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier suggests it won’t be an easy transition) and that Jane Foster will take up Mjolnir in Thor: Love and Thunder.
But now, our sources – the same ones who told us Marvel was developing She-Hulk and Ms.

Avengers: Endgame reshuffled the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s deck in a huge way, and while Phase Four is set to feature several familiar faces, a couple of them won’t look like they used to. Not only will The Falcon and the Winter Soldier build towards Sam Wilson officially inheriting the mantle of Captain America that was passed onto him by Steve Rogers, but Jane Foster is also set to return to the Thor franchise and assume the role of the God of Thunder herself.
Of course, both of these character changes have a precedent in the pages of Marvel Comics, and having recognizable faces take over as heroes that audiences are familiar with allows for plenty of fresh stories without affecting the shared universe’s established continuity in the slightest. That being said, both Sam and Jane have pretty big shoes to fill given that Chrises Hemsworth and Evans...

Frank Grillo perhaps isn’t one of the most recognizable faces in the McU, but he’s nevertheless appeared in three movies in the franchise. He debuted as Brock Rumlow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, before transforming into Crossbones for the opening sequence of Captain America: Civil War. He then returned for a brief cameo, thanks to time travel, in Avengers: Endgame. The Purge star had ambitions for a bigger role in the Marvel universe, too, having his sights set on playing the Punisher.
Grillo was even a pretty popular choice to get the part with fans if there was another Punisher movie. However, he’s now officially ruled himself out of the race. Not only that, but it seems he has no interest in reprising Crossbones in the McU, either. From what we hear, there’ll be a lot of unmissable content for Marvel fans coming to Disney’s newly-christened upcoming streaming service, Disney +. It’s been officially confirmed that Tom Hiddleston is reprising his role as Loki for a TV series made by Marvel Studios, but there are reports of many others also being in the works. These include a Scarlet Witch show, a solo vehicle for Nick Fury and a team-up series for Winter Soldier and Falcon.
Given this, Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t resist asking Bucky Barnes actor Sebastian Stan about the rumors of his character and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson getting their own show during his spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live. A total pro at keeping Marvel’s top secrets under his hat by now, Stan deflected the question by joking that the duo are starring in a reboot of classic cop show Miami Vice.

A couple of months ago it was reported that Marvel Studios was developing several series that would focus on various second tier McU characters that have not gotten their own movies.
Loki and Scarlett Witch were initially revealed to be possible characters, and that was followed up with Vision being included in the Scarlet Witch series, Nick Fury, and a Winter Soldier and Falcon series.
Loki has now been officially confirmed as the first of these limited series to be developed! There were no other details given regarding the series or what it will entail, but Tom Hiddleston will be back to reprise his role as the God of Mischief.
The question is, what would you like to see from the series? What part of Loki’s life would you want to see explored? Are there any stories or characters from the comic books that you like to see?

While Carol Danvers is set to help save the universe in next year’s Avengers 4, the ‘90s backdrop of Captain Marvel suggests that she’s been fighting the good fight since before most of her fellow superheroes even had their powers. This raises the question of where exactly the character has been for the last two decades, with many a theorist proposing ideas on what could have kept Carol so busy all these years that she couldn’t come back to Earth.
One user on Reddit, however, has offered an alternative solution which suggests that the universe’s most powerful superhero has actually been present and active in the vicinity of Earth for quite some time now. This recent post from Sinnik22 is a pretty lengthy read that presents its argument in several parts, but the gist is that Captain Marvel has been working again with her old friend Nick Fury,...

Despite Bucky Barnes counting himself among those affected by Thanos’ reality-altering snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, my gut tells me that big things await the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Likewise, the comic book side of things is giving us much to talk about, as the House of Ideas will soon launch a new Winter Soldier title.
Right now, not much information regarding the plot has been given, though we have been supplied with this brief synopsis:
You know his name. You know the things he’s done. And now that the man known as The Winter Soldier has found redemption, he’s going to help others do the same…even if it’s not as easy as he expects.
Granted, that does sound quite intriguing, but if you need more reassurance, know that the five-issue miniseries will be penned by none other than Kyle Higgins,...

Long before Avengers: Infinity War brought Marvel’s big-name heroes together in spectacular fashion, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes were at loggerheads during Captain America: Civil War.
It’s the other McU ensemble piece that threatened to collapse under its own weight, so it’s a credit to Joe and Anthony Russo – not to mention screenwriting duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely – that Civil War turned out to be a resounding success. And one need only look at the box office numbers ($1.15 billion worldwide) for evidence of that.
Granted, it’s not without its faults, but as far as McU storytelling goes, Captain America: Civil War did a stand-up job of weaving Bucky Barnes into the equation, before using the Winter Soldier to thrust a wedge between Tony Stark and his former ally, Steve Rogers.

As the ensemble action of Avengers: Infinity War made evident, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting awfully crowded these days, and if Disney wants this franchise to sustain for another decade-plus, it’s evident that some Thanos-style population control is in order. Thus, next year’s Avengers 4 is expected to see some major characters purged from the series, but contrary to the Mad Titan’s plan, Disney needn’t kill their heroes to take them out of action.
This new fan theory, for example, offers a peaceful means of concluding the First Avenger’s decade-spanning story. Though Steve Rogers is usually ranked pretty high in the list of characters most expected to die in the fight against Thanos, Reddit user Rocket135 suggests that Captain America could leave this saga alive via the widely predicted device of time travel.

Regular McU screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were the latest guests on Kevin Smith’s Fat Man on Batman podcast and among the various insights offered, the pair discussed their work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier, a film that drew inspiration from the conspiracy-thrillers of the cynical ‘70s in its portrayal of the complex relationship between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes.
According to McFeely, this paranoia-infused angle was something that in part grew organically from the lonely backstory of the Winter Soldier.
The genre sorta came from what we wanted to do with the character…One of the most exciting things about him is he’s the man out of time. So what does that mean to be the man out of time. It should not be, ‘I don’t like these short skirts,’ right?…It should be, ‘I missed Watergate, I missed Vietnam, I missed all this stuff.

Avengers: Infinity War has left us all wondering Wtf after one of the biggest cliffhangers in the entire McU. But we should probably start preparing now emotionally for the concluding chapter of Phase 3. That's because the directors of Avengers: Infinity War recently revealed that they're planning a game changer for the end of the untitled project currently being called Avengers 4.
During an interview on Sway's Universe on Sirius Xm, Joe and Anthony Russo were asked about the next film and how much Thanos' epic finger snap will impact the movies going forward. Anthony said, "It's hard to talk about because it's so specific to the ending, what he's talking about." Joe added:
"We will say this, obviously Thanos is a very formidable villain and to beat Thanos will come at a very high cost. We're committed to stakes, we believe in stakes, and we like to shake up the Marvel Universe.

The Russos revealed that this was their personal pick for the movie’s best scene while talking to EW, pinpointing the fact that they find that the “personal relationship” between the green Guardian and the Mad Titan in that moment makes the drama “much more complex.”

That's a lot of directors! After such a far and wide search, it will be interesting to see who they end up hiring. The only three names that we know of are the three previously mentioned, which include Deniz Gamze Erguven (the Turkish movie Mustang), Chloe Zhao (The Rider), and Amma Asante (A United Kingdom). Marvel has always done a great job choosing directors for their projects, so whoever they bring on will end up being the right choice.

Black Widow‘s director shortlist may be a little longer than we initially thought. Much longer, in fact.

Given what happens in the big-screen blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War, you’d think that the McU’s most direct TV offshoot, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., would “half” to follow suit. But will it? Can it?
Having caught Infinity War on Saturday night — and after doing way too much global time zone conversion math — here’s what I am thinking….(Again, movie spoilers will be discussed.)
Can S.H.I.E.L.D. Completely Ignore Infinity War?

Though she’s spent the past few weeks flirting with the idea of a standalone Scarlet Witch movie, Elizabeth Olsen is confident that Wanda Maximoff will enjoy a strong character arc during Avengers: Infinity War.
In fact, as Olsen told Yahoo Movies (h/t Cbm), it’s also her “favorite character arc” in the McU thus far, as she felt “more confident” and much more comfortable while filming Infinity War over Avengers: Age of Ultron, which marked her first foray into Marvel’s cinematic universe – alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson, no less, unless you’re counting that post-credits stinger at the end of Winter Soldier.
Via Yahoo:
This is my favorite arc… my favorite character arc. Ultron was really fun because I got to be with Aaron [Taylor-Johnson] and that was also a large story, and twist, but now I feel more confident and comfortable on set.

Though it’s yet to even hit theaters, the Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray has already sparked a fair amount of debate online.
Not because of its potential release window or even its price, but because of the inevitable bonus content that will be included.
What will it entail, exactly? As mentioned above, it’s far, far too soon to tell, but during a recent sit-down with Digital Spy, directors Joe and Anthony Russo addressed the Infinity War Blu-ray, which will seemingly be packed to the rafters when it comes to extras and deleted scenes. Fitting, really, given there’s never been an McU movie of this scale and scope.
Yes, April 27th will herald a very special and defining moment in Marvel history, and as for those scenes that didn’t make the cut? Well, we can readily expect a bumper package when Avengers: Infinity War eventually makes its way onto home video.

The Russo Bros. offer us another little hint at one of the long-running story arcs that began in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and will continue and conclude in Avengers 4. Avengers 4 will be the fourth Marvel film for the directors and in a recent interview, they explain that fans will see a conclusion to that long-running story of Captain America in Avengers 4. In an interview with Andy McCarrroll Movies, Joe Russo said:
"For us, this was the challenge of telling the story but also completing the personal journey that we started as storytellers in Winter Soldier. So the story that began in Winter Soldier and that ends in Avengers 4 is a, there's a very personal arc there for us. I think you'll understand our point of view as filmmakers and who we are as people when you watch all four of those movies together."

As the final solitary Marvel movie to precede Avengers: Infinity War, the post-credits scenes of Black Panther were always going to be the subject of heated debate.
And sure enough, ever since the film’s U.S. launch on February 16th, enthused fans have pored over both after-credits stingers in an attempt to decipher what they mean for T’Challa and the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in general.
The first is relatively routine, as it shows the moment when Chadwick Boseman’s new-fangled king begins sharing Wakanda’s incredible resources with the rest of the world. But the second credits scene is where things really get interesting, as we watch Bucky Barnes being nursed on the road to recovery. He’s come on in leaps and bounds, too, and while we don’t get to see very much of what the character’s been up to in Wakanda,...

2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier proved to be a major turning point for the McU. Not only did it move the title character into a more mature direction, but it also introduced Anthony and Joe Russo to the franchise. Four years later and the directing duo are now among Marvel’s top filmmakers, with their first Avengers movie, Infinity War, arriving this month.
While promoting the upcoming release, Joe Russo said that, as well as continuing the ongoing McU storyline, their work represents a very “personal journey” for them as storytellers. Once fans have seen all four – Winter Soldier, Civil War and their two Avengers films – Russo believes that their Marvel productions will demonstrate their point of view as filmmakers. He also teased that the story which began in Winter Soldier will end in Avengers 4:

According to "Avengers: Infinity War" co-director Joe Russo, 'Steve Rogers' (Chris Evans) will become the character 'Nomad' in the new film, with 'Bucky Barnes' (Sebastian Stan) aka 'Winter Soldier', picking up the shield to become the next 'Captain America':
"Obviously you can't deal with a character called 'Captain America' without dealing with the thematics behind that, " said Russo...
"...so we wanted a relevancy to it and we wanted to put him in a position where he was questioning the chain of command.
"You'll see in these 'Avengers' films, he's on a very specific journey as a character.
"Some people have suspected that he may be 'Nomad'...and I wouldn't say that he is exactly Nomad, but he is the spirit of that character..."

Of all the character developments set to occur during Avengers: Infinity War (see: Peter Parker’s Iron Spider suit and the Model-Prime armor), the one involving Steve Rogers has arguably sparked the most debate online.
That’s because the man once known as Captain America (Aka the Sentinel of Liberty) is currently in the midst of an identity crisis, one brought on by the calamitous events of Civil War. Disillusioned with the government and his former allies, Steve Rogers slips off the radar to become Nomad, an insurgent who is ultimately yanked back onto the battlefield once Thanos and his sinister Black Order reach Earth.
Nevertheless, when handling Steve’s transition from Cap to Nomad, the Russo Brothers looked to previous Captain America films, and how Marvel’s man out of time always seems to adapt to the situation around him – particularly when it came to The Winter Soldier.

Avengers: Infinity War marks the beginning of the end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it.
It’s been promised many times before that the event movie and its untitled sequel, Avengers 4 will totally change the franchise. Due to comments from the cast and crew, it looks like this means many of the old guard of the McU will kick the bucket. But one star who hopes to stick around for a while yet is actor Sebastian Stan.
He’s been part of the franchise since 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger and has been on quite the journey so far as Sergeant Bucky Barnes. He started out as Steve Rogers’ best pal in the 1940s, but was then reborn as the brainwashed assassin the Winter Soldier in the 21st century. Last we saw, Bucky had been cured of Hydra’s mental conditioning and was just starting to find himself again.

Since his McU debut in Captain America: The First Avenger, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes has grown into a bona fide fan-favorite, particularly after his villainous turn in the really rather excellent Winter Soldier. And while Marvel comic book readers believe it’s only a matter of time before Barnes assumes the Captain America title (perhaps in Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4?), we still have no confirmation on if that’ll indeed happen.
In fact, all signs have been pointing to the character heading down a different route, with his new codename in the film said to be White Wolf. As EW told us not too long ago, the “rehabilitated assassin now goes by White Wolf [and] it’s intriguing to see a man whose memories were scrambled, wiped, and rebuilt paired with Pom Klementieff’s alien mind-reader.”
But is it still possible for Buck to one day change course and become the next Captain America?...

You’d be forgiven for losing sight of all of the many Marvel heroes (and villains!) that make up Avengers: Infinity War.
On paper, Joe and Anthony Russo’s Earth-shaking event movie is set to feature around 22 mainline characters, as they come together to form an almighty super-team and, ultimately, ward off the impending apocalypse. That figure also includes the likes of T’Challa, Shuri, and Danai Gurira’s fearless Okoye, along with the old guard of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye (!) and the God of Thunder himself, Thor.
But if there’s one person that you may have forgotten about, it’s poor old Bucky Barnes, as played by Sebastian Stan. After all, ever since the end of Captain America: Civil War, he’s been housed up in Wakanda, laying low as Shuri works on re-wiring his brain to rid him of all...

The Winter Soldier is dead; long live the White Wolf.
In anticipation of Avengers: Infinity War, Bucky Barnes himself, Sebastian Stan, sat down with Bad Taste to discuss the future of his McU character beyond 2018. And it seems a cameo appearance in the Black Widow movie isn’t off the table.
Asked if he’d like to star opposite Scarlett Johannson’s Natasha Romanoff, Stan didn’t hesitate for a second, and even suggested that Marvel’s pool of writers could potentially draw from the comics when creating Natasha’s solo adventure. Besides, a Bucky cameo/supporting role would also help cement the film’s place in the wider McU, given it’ll likely be angled as a prequel movie like Captain Marvel before it.
Via Bad Taste:
Yeah, absolutely! Of course! I mean, anytime I’m ready. They have a very nice history in my opinion. It’s very intricate.

When Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes reunite in Avengers: Infinity War, it should be a big moment. After all, the former risked everything to protect his best friend in the hopes that he could be cured of his Hydra brainwashing. Thanks to his stay in Wakanda, that faith has paid off, as the former Winter Soldier is now himself again. And though the exact details on the big reunion are being kept under lock and key, we did catch a glimpse of it in yesterday’s new TV spot.
Encountering him in the aforementioned fictional African nation, Steve sees his old friend, pats him on the shoulder and immediately asks, “How ya been Buck?” “Not bad for the end of the world,” replies Sebastian Stan’s fan favorite.
