At one point, WCW Saturday Night was the flagship program of World Championship Wrestling. When WCW introduced its groundbreaking weekly live primetime show Monday Nitro (and later its Thursday show Thunder), Saturday Night slowly became a show featuring WCW's up-and-comers and mid-card talent. In 2000, WCW Saturday Night was reduced to nothing more than a weekly recap show, had its timeslot moved to early in the day, and became WCW Saturday Morning. The show was cancelled entirely soon after.
This long running wrestling show went by several names throughout it's run - NWA World Championship Wrestling (April 6, 1985 - February 28, 1987), NWA World Championship Wrestling: Saturday Edition (March 7, 1987 - April 8, 1989), WCW World Championship Wrestling (April 15, 1989 - March 28, 1992), WCW Saturday Night (April 4, 1992 - June 24, 2000), and WCW Saturday Morning (July 1, 2000 - August 19, 2000).
