Amazing, inspiring and smart show... a rare treasure!

How often do you come across a show aimed at teenagers that does not portray dumb kids doing stupid things in unrealistic situations?

What happened to shows that were "real", that people could actually relate to, that didn't have to be completely mindless to be successful?

"In a Heartbeat" was exactly what TV viewers needed. A very intelligent show, it followed the lives of EMT teenagers dealing with their daily lives in school, at home and at work. The characters easily hooked you on, and their adventures were interesting to watch. It was neither overly dramatic nor sugarcoated, and yet was still very enjoyable to watch. The acting was terrific and the storyline was simply remarkable. Most everyone who watched the show fell in love with it.

I have no idea what reason Disney could give on why they cancelled the show, and I'd love to see it start up again, but I know that it most likely won't happen. Instead, Disney should consider releasing the lone season of "In a Heartbeat" on VHS/DVD to make up for their big mistake.

A definite 10/10 stars show. Catch the reruns if you can.

Disney's only TRUE teen drama
Firetears_X17 May 2007
Okay, Disney is known for a lot of shows with teen elements. Lizzie McGuire dealt with a few teen issues, and so did The Famous Jett Jackson, but in all honesty, as much as I love those shows, it's still a kid's show. In a Heartbeat was different. It was a show really directed towards teens and it had interesting and realistic characters and stories. I remember one episode was about huffing and another episode where they called cheerleaders "skanks". It was unlike any other Disney show.

And as a kid, I loved the show. It has story lines for the younger girl too, to keep a younger generation interested, and a lot of EMT action to keep the older viewers interested as well. And above all, it was education. It taught me how to react to a lot of situations, whether it's a dangerous-life changing experience or something dealing with friends of mine. It was such a great show and Disney shows this satisfying only come every once in a while.

This is a great show

This is the show that started me on the path where I am today as a paramedic. Someone wrote that its unrealistic at times however I believe this was more realistic when it came out then shows on TV today looking back on a few episodes they did a great job at the realism. Someone said it was unreal because EMT's cannot give drums however is you follow the story line they receive additional training moving there level to intermediate as it was called at that time. All and all I hope Disney revisits the idea of making a new version of this TV show. Without it I probably would not be in a job I love today.

Two Thumbs up!

Just like the rest of you, I ask "Why"?

I was trying to figure out why Disney cancelled this show. At first I thought maybe they didn't want anymore Canadian produced shows.(No offense Canada. I love Montreal.) But that didn't make sense. Ratings? Yeah like that's a factor. If Disney cancelled shows based on ratings Dave the Barbarian would be gone by now along with Lizzie McGuire. So I thought and thought. Then it hit me. This show is a drama. All the shows they have now are comedies. So maybe they didn't want to loose there target audience with Dawson's Creek type stuff(I know there are better dramas than DC but I'm just trying to make a point). Let's face it. Disney's programming has gone down hill. After Jett Jackson and So Weird left, that was it. All the shows are crappy. Even the Proud Family is loosing luster. Disney made a BIG mistake in cancelling this show. At least this one had realism. They need better programming.

Disney, Disney, Disney...

Why did you have to cancel such a great show?! All they show on Disney are the same thing. All of their shows relate to comedy and its all the same. In a Heartbeat had originality, but no Disney was probably too scared that a kid may see a little blood. This was one of my favorite shows and I can't suggest that you check it out because Disney stopped showing the reruns, which is a shame. Its a shame Disney is not ready to handle a drama series and until then you will get the same old children comedy.

Sometimes I love you Disney other times you just screw up.

Best movie series that has ever hit the box office!
penguinsrulez11 February 2002
This show has it all! There are some great actors in it as well. This is probably one of my fav. TV shows because its very life like, unlike Disneys Lizzie Mcguire which I rate that show a 3 out of ten stars because the comedy in that is quite corny. Anyway back to In a Heartbeat has everything every tv show has and more. Fast pacing action, some thrills, tells life of a teanager and has some comic realief in it. It is a shame Disney canceled this show though, because this show is the best show ever made by Disney and the stupid other 'kid' shows don't come close to this masterpiece.

Great, great show!

A large majority of people hear the words, Disney Channel, and immediately tune out to whatever show you're talking about. It's quite shallow and ignorant, and I speak from experience, having encountered many of these people ever since I found out about the TV show, In A Heartbeat. I saw one episode of this show, early this year, and I somewhat became obsessed with it. I do not even have access to the channel in my own home and yet, I somehow still managed to stay a fan. The concept of the show is good and original, and I fail to understand why they cancelled this series. Good acting + good story = Very good show! There are a whole heap of fans who were just as disappointed that the show did not continue, and their are petitions and such to resurrect the show, but according to the production company, the ratings were not good enough. Disney has made a mistake in letting In A Heartbeat go. There are an abundance of other shows that do not get as many viewers, yet stay put in their places. Luckily, IaHB still gets the occasional rerun, so if you ever catch it, give it a chance and watch this great show that deserves way more than it got. Long live In A Heartbeat (reruns!)

A charming little show!

So you have The Disney Channel with a lot of their shows that lack something. Well In a Heartbeat is not that way it has a charm to it. This is a show about substance and quality. This is a show that could wind up on the WB Network it is that good. Now Shawn Ashmore spent time on the Nickelodeon show Animorphs which was a good offering that didn't last at Nick. All I can say is give In a heartbeat a chance with the sugar speckled theme song to the way it travels with the characters you'll see why this show is worth your time and mine.

it is a cool show

In A Heartbeat is a wonderful show. It is basically the only one I watch besides Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven. In my oppinion, I think it is sad that The Disney Channel may be cancelling the only educational show they have on their station. In my oppinion it is very life like, and you can relate to their problems, well not of the EMT thing, but of their relationship problems, and most teens go through that. SO i hope that the Disney Channel has enough sense not to cancel this show! luv to all! Em

The best show on Disney
sugar1425022 November 2000
This, in my opinion, is thebest show on Disney! It has an interesting setting and characters who's lives you can get interested in. All of the actors do a good job. Even though it is mostly a drama, it also has some comic relief. I don't think this show would interest adults or kids, mainly only teenagers will like it. If you want to see a show with interesting plots and some good looking people, this is a good one to pick.

Good Storyline
weatheralert17 December 2000
This show has a good story line, but is a bit realistic in some aspects. For example, technically, an EMT-B, which Disney characterized these characters as being, cannot administer medication, defibrillation (clear...shocking!), or other items that they do on the show. Despite that, which really isn't important, this show is entertaining, funny, and even in its own way, informative. In my opinion, the general age group that will enjoy the program at its best is 12 to 17, but don't go by me, check it out for yourself anyway! Its a good show, with a good "helping people and promoting international goodwill" story line.

Good show on Disney
kyjowa6 January 2001
This is a great Disney show. Most of Disney's shows are pretty corny, but this one is an overall winner. The show is about a teenage EMT (not really, all of the "teenage" EMT members are over 18 in real life) who go around and save people. there is also some comic relief in this show, even though it is mostly a drama. Kids and adults might not like this show, but teenagers will. it is a very informative show about the teenage EMT program. I give it a 8/10 - a little un-realistic (the teenage EMT in the shoe does some things that REAL teenage EMT's are not allowed to do, like administer medications), but the show itself has great actors and entertaining stories.

I agree with all of you

You know what? Since I'm only 17, I like the other Disney shows like, Suite Life, and stuff like that, but I REALLY loved In A Heartbeat. OMG! I'm pretty sure that's the best show I've ever seen on that channel. But still...WHY!! j/k but seriously. I freaking loved that show. Like, I know they would get better ratings (as if they weren't high enough) More of the older teens and maybe even more adults would watch Disney Channel. I mean I doubt that they would bring it back NOW but...IDK I loved that show. I don't think I ever missed an episode. (Yea I know I started watching dramas when I was like 3.) but, anyway, I really do think it would help popularity.
