- Collie: [singing as she watches White Fang walk away] Won't you tell me who you are?/Just stay with me a while./Have you ever been loved?/You seem so hurt and lonely now./You seem so afraid./Still you search for the truth, but if I could/Make you believe/That someone here loves you/And you'll come back someday/I know it was meant to be./And your heart in love would stay./Let me show you the way./Let me show you the way./Let me show you the way.
- Collie: Well why did you come back?
- White Fang: Well, because I realized
- [pause]
- White Fang: I'm the forest now, all that my life really is.
- Collie: That's your *only* reason?
- White Fang: No. Not the *only* reason.
- Collie: Hmmm?
- White Fang: I like your human's cooking.
- White Fang: [growling at White Fang] Back off, buster!
- [more snarling and barking is exchanged]
- White Fang: [sniffs Collie's muzzle] You're a girl!
- Collie: [sarcastically] No kidding! You noticed.
- White Fang: I-I can't fight a girl. It wouldn't be right.
- Collie: [sarcastically] Oh, please.
- [rolls her eyes, then looks back at White Fang]
- Collie: Afraid you're gonna lose?
- White Fang: What's he to you anyway?
- Collie: That'd be my business. All you have to know is that he saved your life. He's trying to help you get well.
- White Fang: I don't need his help.
- Collie: Fine. The door's over there. Go if you don't want help. Leave us alone.
- [White Fang backs away to Collie's dog bed and lays down]
- White Fang: Uh... I... I s-seem to be a little weak right now.
- Weedon Scott: [Collie is barking and growling in complaint after sniffing White Fang] We're not getting jealous, are we?
- Collie: Moi? Jealous at Monsieur Stinkbomb here? Please, don't insult my good breeding. I'm merely... curious.
- White Fang: [leaving the cave; talks to the bear] Thanks for the hospitality.
- [to himself]
- White Fang: Grouch.
- Lip Lip: Well, well, well, boys. Look what we have here.
- Two-tone brown dog: What the heck is that?
- Red dog: Don't know. Might be some kind of skunk.
- Gray dog: That's no skunk, boys. It's some kind of...
- [Lip-Lip sniffs White Fang]
- Gray dog: wolf.
- Lip Lip: Yep. It's a wolf alright. A stinking, smelly wolf.
- Lip Lip: [singing] I'm the meanest dog in town./I never lose a fight./And dogs from miles around/They tremble in my sight./I'm a legend in my time/ and evil to the core./So don't cross me, man/Or you'll be hurtin' that's for sure./
- [laughs]
- Lip Lip: All the dogs around here/Will tell you I don't lie./You'll know the meaning of fear./When you look in my eyes./Ask any dog you see./Yeah!/You better show respect!/'Cause if you don't a world of trouble you will get 'cause I'm the tough dog kingpin./Leaping mad!/I'm packin' four paws of thunder./You'll better understand./And if you see me comin' you better/Let it ride' cause I'm the tough dog runner./You better hide!
- [stops singing]
- Lip Lip: Catch my drift? What I say goes.
- White Fang: [waking up in Weedon Scott's cabin] Oh, my head.
- [sees Collie; his eyesight is blurry at first, then clears up]
- White Fang: Where am I?
- Collie: In my human's cabin.
- White Fang: What happened?
- Collie: Looks to me like you were in some kind of a fight.
- White Fang: [tries to move; briefly winces in pain] Oh yeah. Now I remember.
- [stands up]
- Collie: [watching White Fang eat the steak] Now I know where the phrase 'wolfing down your food' came from.
- Collie: [to White Fang] You really are a stubborn ingrate, aren't you?
- White Fang: What do you mean?
- [tilts his head]
- Collie: All my human was trying to do is help you. He offers you food, and instead of *thanking* him, you try to *bite* him.
- [sighs in exasperation]
- Collie: It's obvious you've been mistreated in life to be so filled with hate.
- White Fang: Well how would *you* know? You don't know a thing about me.
- Collie: You're afraid to trust anyone for anything. Maybe you need to take a second look. Not all humans are bad.
- White Fang: Collie, I *am* grateful for what you and your human are trying to do. Look. I *really* can't stay here with you.
- Collie: But you won't. You're not well enough to be out there on your own yet.
- White Fang: Believe me. You *don't* want me here.
- [starts walking toward the open door]
- Collie: Where will you go?
- [White Fang stops and turns towards Collie]
- White Fang: Up into the mountains, I guess.
- Collie: [sadly] Will we ever see you again?
- [turns his head away and continues walking]
- White Fang: [stops at the door and turns towards Collie] I don't know. Maybe. Someday.
- [turns his head away]
- Collie: [singing as she watches White Fang walk away] Won't you tell me who you are?/Just stay with me a while./Have you ever been loved?/You seem so hurt and lonely now./You seem so afraid./Still you search for the truth, but if I could/Make you believe/That someone here loves you/And you'll come back someday/I know it was meant to be./And your heart in love would stay./Let me show you the way./Let me show you the way./Let me show you the way.
- White Fang: [singing] # I wanna go back/To yesterday./To see your face./You just want to say/I can't find my way./Back to my home./The thing that I knew./Everything's changed now./I'm so alone./Maybe the stars will always shine./The sun will light my day./And in my heart you'll always stay./But for now/Show me the way./And so I'll return/To that strange place./"A new way of life./So much to learn."/It's what you would say./It seems a wolf I'll no longer be./I've lost that part of me today./But in my heart you'll always stay./But for now/Please/Show me the way. #
