Since 2003 the raw footage of R.I.P. is being used for an editing exercise of third year students at the Netherlands Film Academy, resulting in about seven alternate versions every year.
Based on the short comic "Do Not Disturb" published in 'The Monster Times'
Huub van der Lubbe who plays zombie is actually a singer from the popular Dutch band "De Dijk" and was asked to play this role by director Jan Doense when he saw him riding his bicycle in Amsterdam.
Director Jan Doense sees this short horror-comedy as an homage to the American horror classics from the 1930s such as Frankenstein (1931)
R.I.P. was released theatrically in The Netherlands by UIP, accompanying 50 prints of Ali G Indahouse. It was the biggest release of a short Dutch film ever.
