Sex & Nudity

  • Sex scene between Ali and his wife. Thrusting and grinding make this an obvious sex scene but no nudity is shown.
  • Ali has sex with a woman he met. They are shown in bed with meaning but no nudity. Some sexual conversation.
  • Men and women kiss passionately, an implied sex scene.

Violence & Gore

  • The assassination of Malcolm X is very violent and bloody. He is shot with a shotgun, he is thrown back and the impact is shown from a distance.
  • The boxing scenes are pretty bloody with cuts dripping blood throughout the scene.
  • Some slight pushing and slapping.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated, although very little is shown and the scene is very brief.
  • Numerous boxing fights throughout the film. Televised war images are briefly seen.

  • One character is found drunk in his room after several days and asks for more liquor.

  • A man approaches and then shoots Malcolm X with a shotgun twice. Other then walk up and shoot him with handguns, making sure he's dead.
  • The boxing matches are violent and can be difficult to watch.
  • Some talk and videos shown about war.
  • We briefly see a black and white newspaper photo of a lynching victim whose face looks burned or torn up.
